Im an Unraid user but I really like this. Main thing that has prevented me from doing more with a straight Linux server is lack of webui and my lack of knowledge with SSH and command line. This looks to solve those problems once you configure storage so I’m excited to try this
Thanks for a simple overview. This really helps, because I've heard about it alot. But, you showed enough for me to know what it's all about. Very cool Linux Distro.
Ive been looking for a simple way to run a home nas of a laptop for fun, I got a Sambashare working eventually but it was a miserable process getting it working, this way looks much simpler :)
what's the benfit of this over just running docker and portainer, then having a dashboard container (heimdall or alternative)? Is the casaos solution just easier?
Thanks for this video, I have one question. The prerequisite is to have a already configured Linux distribution with docker and portainer pre installed, then deploying casa on this same system?
I’m pretty sure you can use CasaOS to run nextcloud in a container or facilitate it in some way. I could be wrong but the images on the site makes it look like CasaOS has some sort of compatibility with nextcloud along with whatever containers you decide to run

Fantastic tutorial -- thx very much. It would've been great to have seen how to setup (permanent) shares on my NAS.
Very time efficient tutorial!
Love CasaOS, use it on my Pi4, well actually both of them!
Great introductie video of CasaOS.
But terrible background music.

It does seem to simplify things quite a bit
great work Steve - but please - lose the music
Thanks.
I want to install mqtt and Zigbee2mqtt but they aren't in the casaos store. Can u please guide me through how it get them and configure. Thanks

Yeah I think it's just a simpler solution to install but you get the same results.
Makes it easier for me to manage my headless Debian install on my Pi 5 by having a dashboard that integrates it all.

Linux with docker. Portainer is not necessary.
@@StevesTechStuff what distribution do you use.
My test server is running Ubuntu server on a virtual box.
@@StevesTechStuff thanks a lot
I'm trying to figure out proxmox for all my containers.
I've been eyeing proxmox = )
too much thinking for me, i prefer to go with simple things like casa os. nice video btw!
Let's test umbrelOs
So... it's not an OS?
More like a dashboard.
A dashboard that sits on top of another OS like Debian 12.
Is this better than nextcloud?
Casaos is for docker container management. Nextcloud is cloud storage and office suite. They are not really on the same playing field.

The music is annoying and add nothing to the video. 😮
