A couple of weeks ago I discussed teaching our babies how to go down after being put down drowsy but awake. Some parents said putting their baby down in the crib drowsy but awake was not working for them.
Most either said that every time they put their baby down drowsy but awake, the baby wakes right up or they start to cry the second they hit the mattress.
Today I want to do some drowsy but awake troubleshooting that will help your baby learn this important skill.

How do you recover from a failed attempt, after which they’ve missed their wake window and are crabby? You just keep trying this over and over?

During those first few months, you may need to rock them to sleep if you missed the window. Then you can try again with a shorter wake window for the next nap or the next day.
