Im mexican, but I freaking love the arabian scale used. Its so ominous and mysterious, reminds me alot of spanish flamenco.
Flamenco is derived from it, so that makes sense
@ISRAEL ALFONSO HUERTA GUARDIA yes
It's Hijaz scale (makam to be more precise) not Arabian scale!
Amo la escala árabe igual
@ISRAEL ALFONSO HUERTA GUARDIA Flamenco actually came from music out of the Indian subcontinent. It may sound close but it wasn't derived from nor is it related to this.
I'm Iraqi and I've been looking everywhere for a good tutorial I really wanna learn this for my mum!! even though its hard I'm going to try it

That’s the problem every body plays Metallica but not many people play the Hijaz scale
I agree. Thanks!
It's the same phrigian dominat scale?
@@saredodevil yes
thats the problem
Kirk Hammett actually uses a lot of eastern influences in his solos for example wherever I may roam, and his solo live in Lisbon.
Beautiful! The phrygian dominant is my bread and butter. I also love emulating the Arabic sound of the Oud. I will give one more piece of advice. You see the problem with phrygian dominant in Arabic music is that it is a mode of equal temperament. You cannot access the Maqams played on the Oud with straight notes and slides on a fretted guitar like you can on a fretless oud and you get a more spanish sound this way instead. You need to use more bends and master 1/4 step bends and learn where to bend to get the right ones. This gives you access to the microtonal Maqams. I play this stuff on electric and I practice when and where to put the bends or I use my tremolo bar and kind of slap it for microtonal dips. I recommend finding videos of people demonstrating the Maqams on oud and using your guitar and finding the notes by ear. When he plays a microtone you can find where the 1/4 step bends need to go.
A quarter step bend, hey? Stay on the bus and keep on going... Bud,
or just listen to Jeff Beck ;)
Real greatness this arabic melody is unbelievable Arab’s culture is really such a rich culture
They have an instrument Called aud it looks like the guitar but thicker the sound of it is really amazing
Thanks!
Iranian culture is more complete and great and most of this songs are Iranian but after the arabs attack with Islam(to Iran) lot of iran's culture destroyed
I think even guitar has made from a Iranian instrument name oud

The scales used are the D flamenco mode (or Major-Phrygian scale or double harmonic scale) and the Phrygian dominant scale in drop D tuning. The difference between them being the major 7th and the minor 7th.

Wow perfect traditional Arabic cover
Thanks!
I don't have an Oud but I really wanted to play these types of riffs and songs. Turkish and Egyptian tunes. You know, the ones you hear in older movies while desert nomads are crossing sand vallies, something alike.
Welcome, my friend...
This is perfect sir. My congratulations for you. I really like this melody.
Thanks!
I put this on repeat and it really helps me to relax and meditate. One day I’ll try actually playing it myself. Thanks for sharing! 🧘♀️
This is just flat gorgeous.

I just took a patreon membership to support this channel. I am looking for tunes to teach my Syrian friend. Mentioning the tuning will help us newbies. Standard tuning does not sound like the recording.
Ignore the comment. Tuning is mentioned in the pdf. Thank you!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your support!
This is such beautiful music, you can tell there is so much history, and something mysterious going on in there.
Excellent! Liked and subbed! Cheers! Greetings from Scotland! 🏴🍻

Wow honestly really fun to play and surprisingly easy. The hammer ons get tricky but I got the hang of em 👌🏻
GOT TO LEARN THIS
This Arabian scale called Hijaz.
Called Phrygian Dominant, Hungarian double harmonics... as equivalent to the Arabic one.
I am russian and I really like arabic music. It’s like blessing for my soul
i am a mutt...i like it as well
I don't know anything about guitar
After watching this video I am inspired to learn guitar..
Please can you tell me how to choose a guitar and how to setup em 🙏
Go to music store and problem solved
cool stuff. maybe as a little background - the scale mostly used is phrygian dominant with a raised third.
A TON of flamenco uses these scales (harmonic minor). If you take an Emaj chord and add an Fnote to the chord, you have the phrygian flamenco sound.
Wtf guys I'm getting deep chills. I been playing guitar for 24 years and never took but a few lessons and is been mostly rock n roll. I had a few years where I got into nylon guitar playing either Colombian Folkloric music or latin american rhytms and Cuban Nueva Troba (Silvio Rodriguez) and a couple classical pieces including Isaac Albeniz "Asturias" so I been all over the place but last few years I've been improvising on my electroacousric Taylor to whatever feels good and this hit home. Idk my roots. Idk who is my grandfather from my dad's side. All I know is we are Colombian but have some arab/somewhere in Spain features . Never been out there. Live in the US and always been told I look bit middle Eastern but specifically Armenia. Is this why I feel these things on E minor?? 😅
Wherever I May Roam 🤘🏻 0:44
Sounds beautiful
Thanks!
For any reason, I cannot find the right tunning despite I tuned in D-A-D-G-B-E as in vid description. Any help? Anyone?
Drop D = D A D G B E
Drop D tuning is an alternative form of guitar tuning in which the lowest (sixth) string is tuned down from the usual E of standard tuning by one whole step to D
Only the sixth string, the thickest
@@AlexanderGuitar wonderful! Will try it at my earliest. Thank you very well!

This is Western interpretation of what Arabic music is! You guys only know two of our scales which you call phrygian but in this video we are presented with the first Phrygian Maqam (arabic for scale) we call Maqam Hijaz and it's being playex from Hijaz in D (Re) note and the second one we call Shahinaz which is the same Phrygian from D and it contains the same as fhe last one E flat and F Sharp with rhe difference being the B sharp at the end of the scale or Maqam but Arabic music is not just the two Maqams of Phrygian presented here and every wesyern musician only know about our music which are rhe two Hijaz and Shahinaz we have other scales two such as Ajam the Arabian Major Maqam (scale) and Nihawand the Arabian Miner Maqam opposite of Major amd we do also play what you call rhe evil miner that's mostly used in eastern European music for example let's say we play it from C the notes of the clef are E flat F sharp and B flat so it goes lije this
C - D - E flat - F sharp - G - A -B flat - C
We call this one Maqam (scale) Nakreez
I would love to do a video with you Alexander about these similar scales we habe in common snd how each of us interpretate these scales!
Makam music is not only Arabic music. I am sure you didn't mean that but I am also sick of western people who immediately think of Arabic music when hearing any makam. Makams are widely popular amongst Turkish, Greek, Persian, Arabic and many other countries' music. Opposite of this video would be like saying "How to play German melodies" and then improvising on major key randomly without pointing any spesific difference than other western countries' music.
@@efe9625 Maqam was originally arabic then spread to ottomans later
Thanks for the hints. But I searched for shahinaz and did not find in the internet.

I am playing all your tunes. And they all feel so nice.
Dude this is so sick playing this music makes feel like I am somewhere in a a desert all alone and Around me I see nothing but sand no end or beginning and I realize I have been walking in cirkels kind of specific but it’s really true!
Just sounds like harmonic minor to me. Only difference is you are starting on the 5 which tricks the brain into believing THAT is the root chord. You're merely playing G harmonic minor while emphasizing the notes closer to the D root. But instead of calling it a new scale, it's just an old scale (a MODE of that scale). Nice nostalgic sound.
It is difficult to get an Arabic sound on an acoustic guitar, you need to experiment with the tuning of the guitar
@@AlexanderGuitar Well, I don't know much about "world music". I know about standard music and what you played was certainly what I've heard in a lot of movies and such ref Egypt and that whole area which is the middle east. But yeah, I guess they might have instruments that have frets placed slightly off from standard or not all 12 notes. I just haven't looked into that personally. Malmsteen played a lot of what you call Arabic. He would chug on the low E string (well, the band would) while he played A harmonic minor riffs and scales over that. I think also Sails of Charon by the Scorpions does that too during Uli's solo. Cool stuff.
I have fond of arabic music 😍and as an absolute beginer, its definitely worth to play as practise😃

Hello Alexander. Absolutely spectacular playing. Music is all about emotion and feel and you nail it. I'm re-learning the guitar after many years away. I've always enjoyed reading classical music scores and listening along to see how the musicians interpret what's written. I'm considering becoming a Patreon member and I'm wondering if your tabs include a time signature and are they Guitar Pro files? Having a rhythmic foundation helps me learn.
Thanks! Sorry, there is no Guitar Pro on patreon, only pdf with tabs
