      @@avee3301 All the research I've conducted leads me to the Johnson lifters for drop-in replacements on the LS. Was also very pleased to see the "Make in the USA" on the side of the box! I know Morels are a good brand too (I run them on a healthy big block chev), but several machine shops have indicated that the Johnsons are definitely a step up!

    I think it’s worth noting that genuine GM lifter trays should be used to keep the lifters square on the lobes. I bet when people are buying cheap lifters they are also getting knockoff trays that allow the lifters to spin on the lobes causing the damage you pointed out.

    so, ive had 3 different L31 engines that have all had the same issue, noisy lifter, bleed down too fast and clatter upon startup.. Latest engine has been the worst, all 3 were comp camshafts, and every single one had the worst constant noise on the #2 bank, usual 4 or #6 cylinder. Seems to be a common issue but comp and many other manufacturers cant give me a reason why this occurs.. Usually its "its just part of the territory with roller cams".. Even the new 383 i have the builder says the same.. The last 383 I built i used lunati lifters and had zero issues.. Any suggestions?? Its just a street 470hp 383 sbc.. At this point im super frustrated,..

    • @jakefriesenjake
      @jakefriesenjake 2 года назад +2

      I'm looking for a new hrc for my sbc. I went with comp cams solid roller setup 15 years ago to be cool on the street. Well It took 15 years to finish my car. I've been driving it here and there and came back from a cruise and noticed the valve train was noisier. So I checked it. 0.111" back lash on one!
      I should have checked it way way more often but I just got it on the road.
      So with sitting for 15 years, high spring pressures, and not checking the lash, I gotta put in a new cam and lifters now. And springs. Probably go with hydraulic roller

    @nickgarrett2533 7 месяцев назад

    So according to Morel. Their lifter stated in this video has a travel of 0.120. Not 0.200. Also the "caddy" lifters require a smaller preload as they are short travel, so no, using the same pushrod as the LS7 style is not ok as it will over preload the lifters. They require shorter pushrods due to the less amount of plunger travel internally. Just a few points of misinformation i noticed.

    will the morel lifter be safe running up to 7500rpms or so?

    • @alexb6018
      @alexb6018 2 года назад +3

      You wouldn't run a morel lifter to 4k rpm. they are junk. Listen to the man and run johnson, or johnson hi-lift or Gatermen and or the gm ones and that it it full stop!

      @@bones_atx6303 well, we have run morel to 5200 rpm but the rattle as they collapsed made your butt hole tighten. Still stand by our comment with the addition that the Crane Hydraulic Roller lifters were the Best. So now it's Gaterman, Hy Lift Johnson or Johnson, Morel if you want to end in tears.

      @@alexb6018 This guy is right. I bought a set of Morel and they really are rubbish. Noisy as hell. DO NOT BUY MOREL they are rubbish.

      I guess you have your answer, buy Gaterman (which we stock) or HyLift Johnson or Johnson. Morel are pure marketing, and they don't honor warranty (all the excuses in the world how it is your fault and they can't warrant the way you drive or build) Morel are just a Heartbreaking way to reduce your Engine to a piece of crap.
