I'm sure glad this magnificent steamer is still with us. I rode across the Karoo behind it in 1982. She impressed me with both power and speed capabilities. Thank you for sharing this with us.
South Africa once had probably one of the most efficient railway networks on the planet managed and operated with pride and dedication by experts in their various fields. What has happened?
Lovely train, lovely scenic country thats tbe WCape. Ive got the HO scale model of her. What id like to know, whats the average radii of the curves and S curves at 17min till about 18min
thanks for producing and publishing a great video about trains, without a lot of extraneous nefarious music and chatter. Love the wheel slip starts on grades.

Nice production Henry. Myself and some of my friends can be seen at 21:50
As an American, this engine is just gorgeous. Unlike anything we have in the States.
so you have never seen the 4449, the 700, the 844 and the 3985?? Those are just 4 of the many restored and running steam engines in the US.
When is she going to run again ? Sad to see her deteriorating outside the Royal Cape Yacht Club
I believe she is still being looked after and may yet grace the rails in the future again.
Really exciting to see David Wardale's dream become a reality! Why don't we hear more of this masterpiece of Steam locomotion?
July of 2018 while on return from wellington she sustained an injury of some sort and has been laid up at the harbour ever since
Really nice to see her running again. I also filmed her that day ... from Wellington to Nuwekloof - see: ruclips.net/video/Gsjay3bYwwA/видео.html
Ja nee dit was ook die laaste keer wat sy op die spoore was 3550 nou sien jy haar nie meer want die mense het geen trots.
That’s one creepy looking steam locomotive
Hip.. Hip... Horreeeeyyyy... Run... Run... Go red... Run.....!!!!
Stupid vraag.
Ok🎉
Red is not good colour for steam Loco. Best is black colour. Colour of steam coal.
Are you sure? Even when the name of the loco is: The Red Devil⁉️
@@SteamerSA change name BLACK BEAUTY
