I can now check landing on a beach off my list. I probably could have come in a smidge slower, but I had plenty of runway and didn't want to lose a gust and "plop" it!
This video was posted on KPQ (Wenatchee WA) radio's web site today. This brought back memories of my landing on a beach in an "unsecured" area of South Vietnam during the war in an O-1 Birddog. The landing was easy but I really worried about the take off. I worried that if I got stuck I would get in trouble with my command. They would have had to send a Chinook to retrieve me and the plane. Worse, I could have be shot or captured by the Viet Cong. My pucker factor increase tenfold. The sand was soft and dry, but fortunately I got rolling and got off fine. I never told any one until now.
Very cool to see what the real thing looks like. I landed here in X-Plane 11 during a series of FS Economy flights, ferrying a 150 from Alaska to California.
Awesome. Wish we had airports like this on the East Coast. You really only use a 3M sticky mount for your wing camera? Can't imagine that is strong enough! Keep up the videos. Fellow 152 driver here.
Plopping would be bad, nothing good ever comes from a plop. The have a pill for that now, but you have to take it at least 30 minutes before your expected plop, and as we all know plopping is really unpredictable.
Maybe. High tides can vary in how high they are. I would recommend landing with the tide going out, so you don’t accidentally get stuck. As long as there is a stretch of dark compacted sand, it should be good. Stay away from the bright dry stuff!

Very cool and inspiring, people outside the aviation world have no idea
what this is about. Thank you Amy.

That was cool!
Nice landing.
Extra point for leaving the wheel pants on. Smart move with the +5-10 KIAS.
good landing

How cool is that ?!!
I was wondering how long till you found S16. It’s kind of a local secret to WA and OR pilots.
Nice! Another ungross landing.

Is it possible to land at high tide?

How would you be able to tell if this was gross landing or not? Then again, all your gross landings would be better than my good landings.
