Dad passed on the cutting duties to me as a teenager, I don't think he ever approved of my skill judging by the looking over my shoulder that went on for several years. Miss you dad.
Ha!Ha!, Iv'e Never seen Hippie Cowboy/Cattle Rancher's before👍🤪🤣, quite the operation you have there, & one lone Biker guy!!- Ha!--wait, What, you all have a Band Too???-- Dang, where do you find the time??--🤗 Cool🎶🎵🎸🥁🎻
Miss working cattle! Appreciate the video. You guys looked like a well oiled machine. Funny how rooster gets no push back from his instruction yet none of it is verbal! Everyone just knows. lol. Great job
Boy watching this sure brings back memories of being a very young kid working cattle but we did the other way and castrated and branded the calves on the ground. I really miss those days here in Holdrege, Nebraska
In the beginning there is a man, a big sweet gentle man called Rooster, and he says, "I'll get Rob to drive this, and I'll get the other engine." That's Montana language. Great to see your pearly whites Rooster, Thanks for being a great teacher to everybody involved. Where's that Arnica Salve?
Great to see the whole crew there working together. But. Here in Iowa, we did the annual running cows thru the chute every fall. My most hated day of the year. Glad i never have to do it again.
🇺🇸 You know this already but you got some good kids there. 'Weed' fits right in with the men and 'Lash' (apologies for any misspelling?) sure was a trooper on the iodine! Activities just like branding are part of the keys to your success. Live well and prosper, God bless 🙏
Looks like a beautiful spring branding day in Montana! We’ve been doing this work down on the desert 🏜️ all week then trucking them up to mountain pasture. It’s been 100-113degrees🥵 keep putting that cowboy hat on every once in a while 😜⚓️
😁😁👊🏼 man I gotta get down there sometime and hop in a truck when your headed to the mtns or home. Maybe loosely plan a “collaboration” is that what they call it 🤣
@@realwildwildwest “ collaborations” is what “REAL RUclipsRS “ 🤣 But we definitely need to do some Truckin’ sometime. I have yet to be in a truck at the same time as an actual truck driver. I have no problem admitting that I have a lot to learn!
That was a great video my friend. I’ve been around cattle most of my life but definitely not on the scale of what you have going on here. It was very interesting and the fact that it’s a family affair is even better! Keep the videos coming!
@@realwildwildwest Couldn't you video tape the event and post it on your You Tube Channel? Or create a video disc Live for sale? I like your live events. The wife, you and your son, playing each other's instruments. Awesome. Saved one of them to my Favorites.
11:22 Weed Man holding the tail up and a big ol' grin on his face. That was called stump training when I got to participate at 9 years old in a branding session. I was a big city kid who got invited to learn with other kids my age. I'm glad I never had to do it again. To this day I feel like, get the ranch hands and pull their pants down and put a hot Iron on their hiney and now you know what it feels like. At least then your woman knows which Ranch you worked for. It was done with the branding Irons in a wood fire pit back in 1968 in NM.
So do you eat the oysters ? I used to live in jerome Idaho when I was a teenager. Great memories of farming and ranching. What a great part of the US. Montana was my favorite.
When I was in middle school, there was a bully guy that would say my name in a loud voice then say my uncle ate cow balls. I said cows don't have balls, but bulls do! Thanks, Jax and family for bringing back some memories.
Me and son or beginner cattle guys. When u say knife cut what do u mean. For a dummy like my self . I think cutting sack and cutting nuts off. But not sure thank . Love ur channel love the it most when u get the family with ur kids involved in it . Need more family like urs to bring USA. If we want make it GREAT AGAIN IT WILL TAKE MORE FAMILIES LIKE URS
Hard work but a satisfying job when it's done. And Weedman really is growing like a weed, almost didn't recognize him in some of the scenes. How long before he passes you up Jax?
That’s the exact way we do it here at Mink land and Livestock in Cambridge Idaho, green shute an all. Does Rooster bend down and bite the testical’s off? Cool video.
Since Luke was at the ranch, any chance of getting a new steady at the wheel podcast soon???? We’d like a follow up on the girl trucker that’s in jail.
Hey brother, love your content. currently a company van driver saving for a truck.my plan is to find a company to use there authority so like lease on to a company for live stock maybe rent a trailer with them. Any tips or advice on how to find a company or steps I should take. Thank you and stay safe out there on them roads driver!!!!
Yeah check out our podcast steady at the wheel . Throughout the episodes we get Into it. It’s extremely difficult to get into, but there’s a way of a guy is willing to lean and put in the work.
I think the smell of branding is the worst, 😂. But I still miss those days. Giving injections one day , put the needle clear through my hand and didn’t notice till lunch. 😂Good times.
Burgers, you serious as a cattle rancher? Burgers for the young kids, Adults should have Angus Prime Rib, or a thick cut Porterhouse steak cooked just the way you like them! IMO, they worked hard, they should be fed well.
@@realwildwildwest Jax, I'm sure they taste great. My wife and I would only eat certified Black Angus beef. We quit eating it as she is in her 4th year 6th month of Blood cancer chemotherapy. 3 needles in the stomach per day for 7 days then 3 weeks off. About 7 months ago, we would eat the Angus and the next morning her right foot would swell. I saw this Open Nature brand of ground Bison ($11.50) per pound. She doesn't have a reaction to eating Bison. The Bison sirloin steaks for Christmas dinner were great. I just wish we could find more cuts than just the ground or the steaks. Bison has a different taste than beef, slightly sweet and not much fat plus has more protein than beef. She is also a Breast Cancer survivor.
Hi Jax are you interested in a nice older big cab?? I live in southwest idaho.. I could send you some pictures. Every time I say it , I think of you! 😊

Brother that was very interesting
Beautiful view out there !!
Perfect timing from Luke! 😂
How long did this take you guys? It's great to see the family together helping out with ranch stuff 😊👍
Start to finish was about 7 hours between gathering and sorting etc.
About half-way thru the video,... I found myself hummin' John Denver's "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" - COWBOY UP ! 🤠 Steve / W5BIB
Toby Keith said it best "I should've been a cowboy", I was born into the wrong family I so wish I could do this!
Those Powder River squeeze chutes have been around a long time. I had one and it was probably 30 years old.
Man that was alot of fun and a great day and the burgers after where awesome cant wait till next year
Fun to watch not fun to do. Been along time since I did that... lol
Always cool to see your family out learning and working! Was hoping to make it to Twin Falls to see the sightliners but will be working.
Darnit! Maybe next time .
