- After a downpour in Cambridge Springs, Pa I found this odd Lawn Bubble in my back yard. So strange but interesting. Contrary to popular belief. This is all natural, no membrane, no septic, and no broken water line. It was back to normal by evening. it happened in May of 2015 and has not happened since to my knowledge. Never happened in my area in Australia. It appears that this thing occurs mostly in areas that are more lush with more water, where the turf is very well kept and consistent, it appears to separate from the ground underneath, but all hold together because of how healthy the turf is, so it also happened on some golf courses, this is consistent that it occurs on a very homogenous well kept turf that forms this tight barrier, but also can separate from the soil.

That’s so weirdly awesome. I would’ve kept that lawn bubble for a while longer. It really looks like something you could relax or even sleep on - like a natural air mattress or something.

About a year ago I was walking in the city with my mum, and when we passed by the large grassy area that events partake on, I pointed out the oblivious strangely shaped grass terrain that stuck out. I told my mum it was one of those grass water bubble things, and she didn't believe me and said it was strangely shaped grass. I walked over to it and touched it, and to our surprise, it was a grass water bubble thing. After messing around with it for a bit, we informed some officer looking guy about it, and we left.
I am a better person for having read about your experience.

Here in the US, the Turf Police would first call for backup, then scream a bunch of contradicting commands at it with their guns drawn. When they get no response, one or two of them will taze it. When that doesn't work, they'll all mag dump on it, missing it almost every time, but hitting all of the windows of the daycare center across the street. After that, they are completely out of ideas. Maybe an MRAP and 50 cals?

This happened in three spots on the playground during elementary school.

I had never seen it before but I guess it happens a lot on golf courses with irrigation leaks. Interesting to say the least. Just wish we had used a better camera. Ha, we had no idea it would be viewed millions of times.

Same but I just read up what is the cause an I think this video gives it away. Some gardens have bad soil an the grass need to be sown on a stable layer of good soil. To do that you need to lay a layer or lining between the bad and the good. Ground water seeps upwards but the liner stops is from running away as per normal. You then get a blister or a zit. They can also contain gas if this was a landfill area. Back to the video I think he punctured the liner eventually in the correct place for it to BLOW. Weird but explainable. If you think about it any gravel pit that has been filled in with human junk has to have a liner put below and over the filled in area so that the contents don’t leach out into the natural water table. They then overlay the liner with a 6ft clay cap and then with soil. In the UK some of the former gravel pits have gas limiters on them to remove the methane that has built up under the cap. The reason for the gas is no one used to check what the hell went into these pits. It could be human waste, household rubbish, wooden furniture etc.. all of these are organic. When bacteria interacts you get methane gas as a result. But the liner here needs to be repaired if it is covering landfill as it will leach out whatever nasty under it.
