- Planting wildflower seeds in a container is easy. Use a type of media that says potting soil. Use a small rake or trowel to scuff up the soil on the surface. Scatter the seeds evenly across the area. Pat them in with your hand and water them in gently. Continue to water about twice a week until the seedlings are established.

Would the planter need to be covered with some kind of netting until the flowers sprout so the birds don’t just eat the newly sown seeds?
