    🚘 The Mercury Comet we cover on this channel is the same as a Ford Maverick.
    📆 The years 1970 - 1977 will all be based on same information for the most part.
    🧰 The DIY videos and How To videos would help you with these years but also relate and cross over to many other hotrod projects or restoration builds.
    📩 Let us know if you have any questions or need help building your race car, drag car or hotrod.
    🎨 We also cover a lot of painting videos along with body work and the salvage title industry when buying, selling, or owning salvage rebuilt total loss vehicles.

    Courtney it wouldn't surprize me if something in the Holley didn't crap out with no fault on your part. Digital electronics fail that's why jets sometimes crash, it's not always human error...

    I'm guessing that got burn up from fly back voltage from the solid state relay release. It is definitely important to shield against fly back voltage. There are several ways this can happen. Glad it's only 1 input.

    Brake wire, ECU wire, ECM wire, abc wire, red white and blue wire. I'm so f****** screwed when I have to wire my truck. 😢

      lol it’s not bad buddy. You just do one wire at a time. Maybe draw it all out on paper.

    Good video man! Helps to see someone going through something similar. Racing isn’t always sunshine and rainbows gotta grind and it’ll pay off! Learning day by day. Good work brother

    Had to send my terminator xmax back to Holley, gave me a new one. Drive by wire circuit was bad and wouldn’t all trans to shift. Great customer service. I thought my trans was crap.

    One strand of wire can still show a good ohm test. Now take a headlamp out of a 57 Chevy and wired into that same circuit and test it, it won’t even light that bulb,even though the circuit test good. Because That one strand wire can’t carry enough amperage to light the bulb.

    There gets to be so much wiring on these things. I always try to do one input or output at a time with another person. One person reading the diagram while one runs the wire. Then swap positions and verify each others work lol!

    Curious what exactly the “protector” does? Does it reduce voltage from 12 volts to 5 volts or something like that? Good that they (Holley) designed the controller with independent channels.

    • @ThePaintPaperHustle
      @ThePaintPaperHustle  7 месяцев назад

      It protects the ECU from “fly back voltage” when you release the trans break button

    • @quintongreene3652
      @quintongreene3652 7 месяцев назад +2

      The protector is a diode. A diode is a check valve for electronics (one way valve) and only allows electricity to flow in one direction. It has low resistance in one direction and high resistance in the other. Basically when too much current tries to come (fly back) through it limits the current and sends it another direction that can handle the higher current.

    • @funfun8095
      @funfun8095 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, a 10 cent diode will prevent it. How much is Holley charging people for that thingamagig?
