I have had pars defect for about 2 years. I am a collegiate athlete and I get epidural injections at least once every year. Every time I get the injection on the corresponding side that the pain is, the pain then shifts to the other side. Any explanation for this?

I am 45 and I have L5 S1 with pars defect and I am going to have surgery. What is the surgery like and recovery. I also have heart problems as well. Connery arthritis diseases.

Typically if you have a spondylolisthesis - I’d assume it would be a fusion to stabilise the segment. You’ll need to do proper rehab like the sort that our members do in backinshapeprogram.com

Long term as in years/decades, but you need to take care of yourself :)

Thank you, very well said. I have BPD in the L5 for 30 years, however in the past 10 years I haven’t had any problems with it like I did when I was younger. Do you know why now I haven’t had any issues for 10 years?

In 2018, I had bent over to pick up something from the floor. I found out from that, that I had a PARS 5 defect and it's been there since I was a child around age 14.
The trauma I received at 14 was failing down stairs and I had to walk with a walker for several weeks. Nothing was done at the time of my fall. It was a relative house and they thought I was faking it and so did my parents. No idea why, but no doctor or medical treatment was done. Just suck it up and live with it.
In 2018, I was getting out of bed and picked something off the floor. Something snapped and I was taken to the hospital and given meds and sent to a specialist. Specialist informed me that it was from younger age and parts are broken. Insurance told me to do physical therapy and this happened 3 times. I was denied any actual treatment options except to exercise.
2 years I've been suffering nothing but pain. I can't get any doctor to listen to me. My back pops a lot, about twice a week, and it's excruciating pain. I can hardly walk, typically less than 10 minutes at most. I lose feeling a lot in my thighs and legs and doctors keeps telling me I'm making it up.
How do I get the doctors in my area to listen to me and correct the issue? The physical therapy exercises actually increases the pain. How else can I get back to normal without surgery as doctors aren't listening to me at all.
