- Malaysia Airline's Boeing 777-200IGW (9M-MRA) 10 Years Anniversary of Great Circle Distance Without Landing record.
Uploaded this documentary just for the anniversary purpose.
On April 2, 1997, a Boeing 777-200ER, tail registration 9M-MRA (dubbed the "Super Ranger") of Malaysia Airlines, broke the Great Circle Distance Without Landing record for an airliner by flying east (the long way) from Boeing Field, Seattle, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, covering the distance of 20,044 km in 21 hours, 23 minutes.
LR is longer ranged than the ER. It took them 7 years to break that record - but if you consider weight classes, this record still stands as the 777 LR record was actually of a higher weight class.
Hey You Should Operate One B777 The 9M-MRA. Pls. It is still on MH Hanger Right?
@@zarepan5 yeah..thats true..
@@zarepan5 or buy a few B777-200LR and paint one of them with the same livery as B777-200ER to make a tribute to MH370 & MH17
@@irfanzufayri1117 well sadly the B777-200LR has been stop production, also Malaysian Aviation Industry announce Malaysian Carrier can't use B777 aircraft because of two fatal accident by two B777 aircraft.
@@panzerkamfwagenausf.jagdpa9281 Malaysia 777 were quite unlucky. 1 suicidal pilot and 1 missile. More than 90 percent of all 777 fatalities belong to Malaysia airlines
As a cabin crew... I love it so much to work in 777 instead of 747...✈️🇲🇾
Proud to be one of the passenger on board to Brisbane in back in 2001...full of sweet memories!
I feel proud being a malaysian.Malaysia wasa full of different people and different food and a lot of vacations.
Malaysia Airlines or MAS is really good coz the staff is friendly, the food is good, the entertaintment is also good.Plus the girls are simply beatiful.
Malaysia Airlines was the one who proposed the record flight, so they have something to do with the record being made. So why shouldn't they be proud. And another thing that Malaysia Airlines should be proud about was the fast turnaround by the Malaysian ground crew. That achievement contributed to the plane beating the record for fastest round the world flight by six hours!
oh my!!! malaysian airlines is the best!!! i've spent 13+ hours in a single flight one time and i never felt bored!....its soo cosy and comfy!
i would love to try the 21 hour flight!!!
The first hull loss was in 2008 after almost 13 years in service, the first passenger fatality was in 2013 after 18 years in service. It was and still is the most safe passenger jet airliner in history.
Agree with you ! B 777 is the most safest an most beautiful airplane in the world.
A340 zero fatalities
Love to see Malaysia Airlines boeing 777 and this video. Hope that the 6 new Malaysia Airlines A380, which will be delivered later, will have any news like this also. If anyone have Malaysia Airlines A380 video, please upload it.
Great video! Someone could help me?
1-What made this flight route?
2-What is the time of takeoff to the landing in Seattle in Kuala Lumpur?
3-The takeoff was of KSEA or Everett?
WOW! 42 damn hours?! These are some determined pilots :O
Actually Boeing per miles and hours logged is the safest major aviation builder
It's not exactly empty. There are cabin fittings, and there are passengers, primarily journalists and boeing crews. I believe Richard Quest is one of the passangers
ILOVE MALAYSIA AIRLINE,,,MY FAVOURITE AIRLINES,,PLUS EMIRATES AIRLINE
I flown on the aircraft 9M-MRA 18 years later on 2015 from AMS-KUL
this flight happen 5 days before I was born and its my favorite plane :)
I love the Boeing B777.
Nice Video
I wouldn't say that. I've flown SIA to London and I found the staff quite friendly. My cousin fell asleep and she put a blanket over him. They don't stop to chat with you though.
MH my 1st choice to go around the world. The hospitality that they have will never be the same like others.
It was Malaysia Airlines' 50th Anniversary.
They have updated the 777 many times since then! It has many more new features.
A380s are nice, But I still like the 777s. They can take off and land on very short runways compared to the size. They occasionally come to Albany International in NY even before it's 1,500 ft runway extension. The runway now measures 8,500 feet, and can now handle A340's.
today malaysia airlines triple 7 in memory
Thanks for sharing. Now that Malaysia Airlines B777 is retrofitted with new Business Class.
I don't remember it being hazy in April that year. The haze came later that year...
You are most welcome to come!
love to go to malaysia!
We never denied the contribution of Boeing or the Russian Space Agency.
We just want to show the world Malaysia can stand equal to other countries like Australia and France (for example).
For you to deny the pilots and the astronaut are achievers is like saying "Australia shouldn't be proud of Ian Thorpe because it wasn't Australia's achievement, it was Ian Thorpe's".
P.S. Why should you be embarrassed?
This the plane i flew go to Australia
@53Afiq yes it great planes, specialy 345 and 380, i flow with emirates this summer from london to dubai with a380,it realy awsome
Were there any passengers or any weight added into the plane?
MH370...MH370....MH370...missing just like that..pls prayforMH370 {:-(
It’s 2021 and Still missing 😞
Some parts already found. Fuck that pilot who crashed the plane
Now all retired Boeing 777 from Malaysia Airlines.
Yea,its really sad, the
Malaysia airlines 777-200ER is the girst airplane i have ever flown on,since then i love Malaysia airlines and its 777s , before it retired it was the last plane in malaysia airlines fleet to have the old livery, now Malaysia airlines has a new livery
B777 is an excellent aircraft!!!Better than any other...
I like Malaysia Airlines!!!!!!!!!!!!!
777 200lr 200er and 777 300er are the best aircrafts ever built
4-I forgot to ask the number of people on board and quantity of fuel?
I thank all who help and if they can, cite the source of information.
Big hug to everyone!
@fabianvelazquez1 Don't forget that Boeing also builds parts for rockets and complete satellites, and a lot of NASA hardware that gets used in space. I like some of Airbus newest designs, but I have to admit that Boeing is a well rounded company that builds a lot more than just planes, and will probably be around for a very long time to come. Competition between Boeing and Airbus is good, makes safer and better planes all around. I don't want a single company building all the planes out there.
O Sallent t
O Sallent t
Which 777 do you like?
very facinating
well in my opinion!! passengers dnt need world records!! they need comfort and nice prices and quality of fly!! i flow on 777 and on a340-500 ! the last one was more comfortable and more quiete!!it my opinion
is there anything video about that 777LR which did the flite from honkong to heathrow flying east? its distance was more than this one. tho the aircraft was newer and not ER
i like pianos and big planes too
Boeing 777 is really a great aircraft without any doubt ! I know there has been a few incidents with this aircraft, but it doesn't means that its a bad aeroplane. I think if we think above the MH-370 the B 777 is the one of the safest airplane on the planet. It was really well ahead of its time. 2 incidents are not enough to prove that it is a bad airplane. If we compare it to its Airbus counterpart the A330,the A 330 has recorded 8 hull losses as compared to 4 of B 777. So B 777 is the safest and the most beautiful airplane in the world.
well for airliners, the dates are 1958 for the debut of the 707. Airbus had theirs in 1974. And I like 777, but i don't like 727 737 and older 747 because they have a crash history. I still feel nervous whenever i fly a 737-300 for example.
I really hope MH will update it's economy cabin with a new IFE system and a 3-3-3 config (777) for economy.
why? isnt the 3-4-3 config for the 777/a350 already good?
I made a paper airplane that flew about 30ft once.
By the way How many used Loaded fuel?? and burn Fuel
i want Know Fuel Unit "lbs"
The 777 is a great airplane, also not too big meaning you are not waiting for your luggage with 600 other people.
what show is this? from Discovery Channel?
@fabianvelazquez1 Yeah, Boeing has way more experience in the industry, but Airbus have come along in way less time and caught them up, if not surpassed them. Don't seem so great in that context, do they?
Quite true. Though I prefer SIA's newest IFE.
SIA's Business Class is good, but looks weird in bed form. MAS's Business Class is (to me) a bit better as it has lumbar support and isn't too wide. Though, its also weird in bed form.
Yeahh!!
"maybeiloveyou (4 months ago) 21 hours! i can barely tolerate 10/11 hours."
lol true anyone would wanna be in first class for 21 hrs
Plenty of Boeing aircraft have crashed 100+ 727s 200+ 737s. and 50 747s. Compared to about 50 for the entire airbus range. Also Airbus hold the record for LARGEST COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT and LONGEST COMMERCIAL FLIGHT. Those are world records
@stabbicraft shes still a healthy bird~ you are so lucky~!
did anyone else notice they didn't use reverse thrust? 5:05
3 Stars (Philippines) vs. some 5 stars airlines (Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Asiana and Cathay Pacific)
i like Boeing...
You like Rolls Royce engines? Personally I agree. But for freighter aircraft, I'd prefer GE.
what music in early video?
Then you have good taste!
#PrayForMH370
autoland has been in use since the 70s, wat are you talking about?ever heard of a catIII approach?
i agree
Call me crazy, but I WOULD like to try that 21-hour flight...
did that pilot do that all the way with already exceeding his FTL?
exactly
I bet the airbus fans when the saw this or heard this they pull their hair and started crying hahahhahahahhahaha!!!!!
Aged like finest milk
@cairns65 its not all about technology you know BOEING builds tanks, commercial airplanes, jet, house hold utilitis and much more.airbus just builds just commercial airplanes and only one military aircraft thats sad.and boeing has more expirience face the truth .
the LR version is a longer range
They do sell spacial earplugs for that now.
#At #RM10 in #BackSide #3rdSeries #WawasanSeries!!!
Oh sorry I overreacted I thought you were someone else like some guy named fachy and 4 numbers as the guy that spams, but yeah the 777 is great, 727 has been retired but the 737 is very popular there are too many flights to be nervous about. The 747 is getting a new variant but it isn't popular as of yet...just Lufthansa and Korean Air want it. I like A320s and A330s a lot just as much.
I haven't seen Philippine Airlines getting a 5 star rating. Haha
@cairns65 I don't know about technology, but when it comes to beauty, Airbus just aren't pretty. Especially the A380. The last beautiful plane Europeans ever made was the Concorde, and we can thank Airbus for killing the swan.
Malaysia 777 non stop...I'll say! still no signs of MH 370...a never ending flight...
I assume that the Bermuda Triangle has been expanded by the illuminati with global warming lol and mh370 got sucked in
MH is the best.
Singapore Airlines.
why is malaysia airlines so proud of this feat? the company that should be proud is boeing period! same for their space tourist.....the accolades should go to the russians! malaysia has to come up with something she can be proud of soon or stop piggy backing on others and celebrate a hollow achievement.
42 hours
Still noting beats SIA, In my opinion...
MAS🎉🎉🎉
@53Afiq u right yes,but i still preffer a345 than 777 :):)
amen to that, lad hasnt a clue
All of us never actually. Because it's not exist :-)
I'd prefer its big brother the 777-300ER. Heeheehee
seriously you have never tried Singapore Airlines lol. poor thing
Yeah. But there are Christians, Buddhists and Hindus. Just to name a few.
The pilot is drunk ar 6:23
A380
Their very unlucky with this plane they lost 2 777's in 10 years new world record
i hate 777 i love 747 AA AmericanAirlines... they used to have but now is MD-80 !!!!!!!
But is too late malaysia b777 he got crash in indian ocean [MH370 9M-MRO] and got shoot rocket by ukraine [MH-17 9M-MRJ] rest in peace mh370 and mh17🕊😔
MH17 Was 9M-MRD Not 9M-MRJ
RIP MH370
RIP MH17
RIP MH653
Sorry S7r0ng3r-you are missing the point. Without Boeing or the Russian space craft-the pilot wont be able to fly for 21 hours straight and the astronaut would still be on the ground. I deduced you must be a Malaysian and I sorry you seem to be so spunned by the Malaysian media that you actually made to believe the pilot and astronaut are achievers. In the eyes the world they are really nobody. In fact we are embarrassed at Malaysia claims for the dubious feats.
i dont like mas it smells like herbal oil pheww i love sia singapore airlines
scarebus sucks. nobody is looking forward to anything other than getting their money back for the 2 year delays. there is a reason you see 1 airbus in a sea of boeing aircraft on a daily basis. because scarebus sucks, and there are only a handful of airports that can even support the a380. boeing is right. 380 is TOO big
