This music is like liquid gold! The 80's what amazing music! My gorgeous wife and I are together 40 years now. We still go out cruising most weekends in one of our several exotics machines. We have so many of their songs on our playlists. We love hanging out together alone! The journey we have been on has exceeded our wildest dreams! To not only have achieved the America Dream, but the best part is our 7 adult children in our first 11 years and now 5 grandchildren who are priceless. What a life we have been blessed with. As crazy as the world may be, it is not part of ours! Living our blessed life now!!!
I feel like as a genre easy listening love songs hit their peak in the 80s for whatever reason. There’s still good stuff in subsequent decades but the sheer volume and quality of the 80s stuff is unparalleled. These songs are still payed at weddings 40 years later for goodness sake

The love songs of the '80s were pure, honest emotions - speaking of how much of ourselves we were willing to risk losing if we should lose in this crazy game called love.
And went out with a bang, a very big bang not like any other decade( in deference to another comment directly below this one) then what happened? A complete diametrical change to our lives and music. As I like to put it rather bluntly, we got jammed. Not like 1999, 2009, or 2019 which all resembled the same aspect as a fish out of water and the amazing banality of the promise of our impending future: wow, faster internet connections and the creation of computer assisted design of more injection molded plastic junk that plagues our culture and fills landfills with polystyrene with a half life of 500 years. That is not epic, that is a tragedy.
Brings me right back to laying on my bed listening to my radio recorded cassette tapes for hour's. Thanks for this brought a tear to my eye. I miss my youth.
Growing up in the 80's was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Best music, prettiest girls, cars that had style unlike the cookie cutter cars now. Big hairdos, best colognes and awesome movies. I feel for our youth having to grow up in this wicked world.
The world was always evil, the 80's were full of drugs, war and injustice too. Little has changed, the difference is that now we have the internet to find out everything
God we had the most amazing music in the 80's and 90's. We were so lucky to be teenagers back then. I sure do miss those days. We did have the best music ever then. I wish I had a time machine so I could go back every now and then lol. But one can only wish. I am happy I got to live the best years as a teenager with such awesome music ever. The Love songs in the 80's were magical! Does anyone remember calling in to a local radio station and making a dedication? I think that's why they wrote such epic love songs. That's was the first social media!
Actually The 80's were pretty much the end of calling into the radio station to make dedications. By the end of the 80's the DJ's had play lists to go by and so they had certain hours each night you could call in to a local radio station to make dedications. It made me sad because in the 60's & 70's we personally knew our local DJ's, we called them to make dedication's, and sometimes just to Bullshit. In the 70's they actually ANSWERED the damn phone LOL. Oh how I miss the days when we knew the radio station phone number by heart.
I'll be 50 this year, yikes, and though yours is probably a rhetorical question, ppl living in their favorite eras is a thing now. Can't actually time travel yet, sorry, but said 'warpers' (?) are retrofitting their houses if not lives n getting nibbles of what it was like. Good luck. 👍

When I hear certain songs in this video, in a split second, my brain snaps me back to a memory 20-30 years ago. IMO, music is one of the best ways to trigger your mind to recall a distant memory. I remember exactly where I was when I heard Mr. Mister's song "Broken Wings" for the 1st time. We were riding in a gray Caprice Classic to visit our grandparents. I was relaxing in that back niche up near the back window when that song started playing. It's been one of my absolute favorites. Every time I hear it, I'm transported right back to that place.

80s and 90s were the classic. I'm glad to grow up with the legendary songs. All artists were phenomenal. Real music with emotion. Wish this music would come back to this time and carry forward.
I think many of us believe, rightly or wrongly, that this was the best decade for music due to the way we consumed it. Either on the radio, via the excitement of buying cassettes when they were released or the use of the music in films. The latter reason means we still associate the songs with moments in films when we see the actors today.

I was born in '67, and let me tell ya kiddo, the 80's was a time, where we had choices of what music to listen to, fashion, was also the thing, for me, my lifestile was great, I don't understand how some people can say the 80's was terrible. I grew up in So. Cal where you met every walk of life, from the good, the bad, and the ugly!!.......and even the ugly were kool.

I got a chance to live and experience 1st hand the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and todays music, if thats what you want to call it. I can say, that, living in the 80s was the best time in MY LIFE AS A YOUNG ADULT!!!! When I hear certain songs in this video, in a split second, my brain snaps me back to a memory 20-30 years ago. IMO, music is one of the best ways to trigger your mind to recall a distant memory.
I remember exactly where I was when I heard Mr. Mister's song "Broken Wings" for the 1st time.
We were riding in a gray Caprice Classic to visit our grandparents.
I was relaxing in that back niche up near the back window when that song started playing. It's been one of my absolute favorites.
Every time I hear it, I'm transported right back to that place.

I think many of us believe, rightly or wrongly, that this was the best decade for music due to the way we consumed it. Either on the radio, via the excitement of buying cassettes when they were released or the use of the music in films. The latter reason means we still associate the songs with moments in films when we see the actors today.
Even the comments here tend to dispute your assertion: so many posters from different generations praising the 80s as the best.
