@@Ram-gy9en When you say "walking down the road" do you mean "This Wheel's on Fire", used as the theme tune to _Absolutely Fabulous_ ? That's her husband singing-in duet with Julie Driscoll-not Jennifer. Unless she recorded it for something else?
I'll go out on a limb and say the visual is not what is recorded. She probably mouthed the words first to get familiar with them and that's what's on the video and then did another (probably couple of takes) singing in full voice.
She’s making it look effortless!!! When I’ve seen Bonnie Tyler sing it she’s like belting it out like a warrior while Jennifer Saunders just seems to just read the words and make it sound just as powerful. As bad as it sounds I prefer Saunders version...

I was formally introduced to this woman through Shrek 2 and I will ALWAYS love that movie for making this choice. She was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. And this remains the cherry on top of a BEAUTIFUL treat.
Gosh it looks freaking effortless for her, like breathing to us but then you watch the movie and listen to the song and you cant help but be in awe of her talent❤
Even though Shrek is effectively a kids movie, ever since I saw this scene and every other scene the fairy godmother was in, something about the voice and performance were just so unforgettable and catchy and funny, and now as a 28 year old I’m watching Shrek 2 again for the fourth or fifth time just to see Jennifer’s parts! And when I recently watched Friends for the first time, there was an episode where this one lady had a few really funny lines, and the same thing happened where I thought she just stood out of the crowd and was effortlessly funny.. Then I research it and realise it’s Jennifer both times! That’s how you can tell she’s an amazing actress and personality! What a woman!
Shrek 2 is one of the best films for the voice casting. Shrek 1 was predominantly American/Canadian, so I was expecting more of the same for 2. When they went with 4 English actors/comedians who are some the best we have, it was so surprising and yet it works SO well. The fact that Saunders was cast from an old tape in their archives as well is even more amazing.
In 1995 Nine Inch Nails created the song "Hurt", In 2002 Johnny Cash did a cover of it so good Trent Reznor said "that song isn't mine anymore". I think the same can be said about this song and Saunders.
On one hand she leads the charge as a ruthless cutthroat villain bent on securing power by controlling the destiny of a princess. On the other she's a surly inn keeper that seems like a villain at the start and then single-handedly fought pirates to protect her ward. This woman played her roles in Shrek 2 and Muppet Treasure Island flawlessly.
This woman was part of the greatest climax in movie history.

She *WAS* the climax
