Great, consistent playing, wish I could do that. The tones are both usable, but as a helix owner imho the fm3 has more depth, sound fuller, that's why I usually put a very-very small reverb at the end of the chain, that gets it a bit closer to what I hear from real amps. But a minor nitpicking: the helix doesn't have a powerball (unfortunately), but has a fireball, and doesn't have a mesa mark ii, only mark iv.
Soldano SLO on FM3 sounds better than the real thing LMAO (jk not really, but sounds so good). So not much difference between the two modellers some models better on HX some better on FM3. Thanks for the comparison.
The tone is very similar (it’s not about monitors, the “tone” is the on the people perceive, the one in the mix and/or the one on stage, as opposite of the room air one). The most audible difference in the mix is the Mesa Mark, but just because he is comparing 2 different amps, Helix Mark IV vs Fractal Mark V
Looking at the video, I can MAYBE hear a difference, but that could be psychogenic. If I was just listening to this, even actively, I would not hear a difference. Good job!
Easily Fractal for the win. FM9 and shut the front door. I bought one and it's amazing- better than the FM3. Twice the power and 3 times the foot switches and several more benefits and features. Nice playing demo but you should mix it up to hear some of the fine Fractal effects and amazing patches where it would pull ahead of the Helix even more.
I don't get it. You literally drop a video with these units sounding virtually identical and folks still chime in saying this or that modeler sounds better. They literally sound identical here. I own a Helix Floor and an FM3. This is by far the best comparison of heavy tones I've seen. You put in the work and the units both sound killer.
I have a helix. Don't have an ax fx and I agree in most cases. Although The uberschall and jcm800 sound better (less fizzy and flat, more lively) on the helix in this video to me through decent monitors. That's not to say that this specific video is the end all be all though. But it leads me to think maybe the choice is do you want to spend the extra time using fractals wayyyyyy less intuitive UI to get around(unless using axedit) or do yoy want to spend that extra time with the helix taking away the fizzy sounds which this video clearly demonstrates is doable with the 2 amps I listed above that sound better on helix even in isolation from the mix.
Sure if all you can or want to play is chuggaa chugga Ramstein covers then just go and buy a Zoom ms 70 g Don’t waste your money on gear with tasteful presets and then don’t waste your money on gear that sounds like Helix
Both of them sounds soo goood
Killer Tones Killer Riff, Good Job man!
Absolute unit of a comparison video. Fucking awesome, dude!
Sounds like you can dial identical tone on Helix and Fractal with some EQ and cab tweaking
Uber, Powerball and Mk5 on the Helix... FM3 for everything else.
Really appreciate the work put into this and the results! 🙏
Mk4 😋
Thanks, useful video!
Friedman and Mark 5 sounds identical, JCM's are vey close.
Could you share you presets for Helix please?
Has there ever been a part 2 ?
Very cool tune dude
Sounds great. Congratulations 🤘
Both sound good, whomever says they sound identical please get your ears checked or get better monitors lol
The fractal is absolute killing... more grid, more chunky! In the mix it Sounds often similar, but the isolated tracks let you here the magic ✌️
Very little difference. You can't hardly go wrong these days. I still prefer kemper amp tones though
What was with all the hiss on the Fractal JCM 800 though. Not so good
Great Sound!!! You did an amazing Job on the guitar! But i have to say: very very amazing job of the rest of the band!!!! Especially the Drummer!!!!
Great comparison. And seriously head banging riffs 🤘
I own an FM3 and it feels like a real amp...I wonder if the Helix feels the same....interesting...thanks for the comparison.
You used same IR or stock cabs?

Fm3 sounds better on some amps but they both can dial almost identical with minor differences. Can't wait for my fm3 to come in soon. Nice vid dude.
Nice video mein Freund! I prefer the line6 because its fuller tonewise in my ears.!! Again great work!
The cabs were stock or 3rd party IRs? Thanks!
Third party, since I wanted to use the same IR on both units 😉
@@VKzGibson Thanks!
Helix is a very user friendly thing... but Fractal is a freaking monster when it comes to full, more valve/ realistic sound.

i bet if they didnt specify the name, half the people here would even guess which is which

Same
If I don't watch the video just listen I can't hear any difference.
THANK YOU!!!!!
All i want to say GO DIGITAL!))
You got them to sound exactly the same.

Hi,you use stocks IR´s?
no, I'm using the same external IR on both, so the comparison is more fair.
@@VKzGibson Sorry,what irs you use?,sound awesome
@@khamull9827 on this one I think I used one of Bogrens IRs!

My post is better than yours
@@Xavii1986 It really is..
FM3❤
I like sound of fractal 🔥🔥
Almost identical.
Huhu mein Kleiner, Agentin 667 grüßt Agent 669 😉 einen schönen 4. Advent wünsche ich dir
🤟
👍🤟
Now let us talk about organic tube amp feeling while playing... We all know what device is the winner... 😝
Thanks for this. Seems some better on the Axe some better on the Helix. However the Powerball on both of them is complete ass :S
This proves there is no “better”, just “a bit different”. Fan boys be damned
The engl powerball sounds better on helix
FM3 has more of that realistic snarl that punches through. Line 6 sounds fizzy and flat/lifeless in comparison
I agree. Fractal is on another level in my humble opinion. Whoever is saying they're identical: please, try to listen with some better monitors.

They also sound literally identical on the friedman. And the helix is better on the engl too.
Fizziness is operator error. Easily dialed out while leaving all the good stuff intact
FM3 sounds slightly better...
