Creating a RWBY Parody Song (feat. Hbomberguy)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 сен 2024
- In this video I describe how I wrote intro music to parody the abysmal American anime, RWBY (the intro song is for Hbomberguy's video: "RWBY is Disappointing And Here's Why"). In the video, I discuss the anime songs and tropes that I decided to parody, followed by an explanation of my song writing: how I sketched out the harmony, recorded and mixed the parts and wrote the lyrics. Oh, anime lyrics are a funny thing... At the end, you can hear my lovely anime song in all its glory! The music isn't copyrighted, so you can have it for free too!

Hey everyone - I'm sure you've noticed that is often a large gap between my videos. The reason is that I have a lot of 'regular' work to do to pay the bills. Although my channel is still growing nicely, it's is not yet at the level where I can dedicate the sort of time I think it deserves. So, if you'd like to support my channel, I'd ask that you please consider become a Patron. If not, don't worry. Thanks a lot for watching, regardless! ... and that's maybe a good thing. You are among the absolute best original RUclips content makers. It doesn't matter if a year passes between each submission, as long as the content is as good as it is. I'm not convinced you will be able to continue making such good, inspiered stuff if you start pumping out videos on a weekly basis.
Dude keep at it. Top tier co tent every time and worth the wait.
It's cool, I'm not sure that anything could be more fitting for a collaboration with hbomb
Absolutely worth the wait, especially because these are videos you WANT to do and don't feel obligated to make in order to please the algorithm. You put so much effort into these, even just animating words with after effects to highlight your points, transitioning between backdrop clips of RWBY and screencasts of your workflow, and the cute cameo with hbomberguy. I'm perfectly content with an irregular upload schedule because every video is a hit year I can rewatch several times.
Thanks for choosing me to work with you! I had a lot of fun singing this and collaborating with two of my favorite RUclipsrs :))
Thanks so much for being involved!

No
Don't, it's rwbysh
Ruby is iconic in design (see all the cosplay), but the narrative and execution lack substance. Some of the set pieces and fights are cool but there's not much that justifies watching the joining content. It kinda veers from boring to cool whilst remaining not particularly interesting throughout. It's biggest crime is the missed opportunity with its premise. I'd recommend just watching the big fights and see if that holds your interest.

That was a surprisingly fair take on the music (read: i like the music and tantacrul didn't slam it). Jeff Williams is a pretty good composer, even if the music for RWBY is very cheesy; he more than makes it up with some sick chromatics and stupidly awesome vocal layering

@@HoxMouse What I mean is: imagine how much better it would have been had the show itself risen to the standards of their music? I think their music is too good for it.
@@HoxMouse It's not a "douchey" thing at all. The shows quality has dipped drastically over the years, but the soundtrack has always remained good - if not gotten better - over the years. Their talents literally are wasted on RWBY, in comparison to the work Jeff did for RvB, and Casey's personal band.

@@riverwater1406 It was a joke question, but I appreciate you typing all that out regardless.
As a pretty devoted anime enthusiast, the fact that you successfully emulated the sound of a certain kind of American musician trying to imitate Generic Hype Action Anime Soundtrack Music and missing the mark a little is really interesting, even if I would personally love to see your interpretation of Japanese pop and rock music tropes and quirks played a bit straighter without that remove. Specifically, "Tantacrul writes a Shinsei Kamattechan song" would slap (although SK are a bit… weird in their own right).
Just because the lyrics are nonsense doesn't mean Jeff missed the mark. You should actually give it a listen some time. You might like it in the same kind of way you might like a breakfast cereal that's all marshmallows or a movie that has no plot but lots of explosions.
that footage of hbomberguy wasn't a freeze frame, was it? did he really record like nine seconds of himself staring blankly at a camera for you?

Rwbys music dose sound like the sonic adventure 2 soundtrack got hit in the head a few too many times. That’s probably why i like it so much
Oh I love how you dissected the stupid "anime" lyrics!
I think a good portion of those are coming from the fact that Japanese themselves like to add some English lyrics into their songs purely because they think they sound cool! Also they have a thing called "Decoration English", which they put basically everywhere. Abroad in Japan has many fantastic videos on that, with hilarious examples of some of their domestic products English names.
And also that "revolution" word - I think (just a wild guess) Japanese often use "revolution" themes in their media (songs, animes, etc.) because their "real" society is very conservative and reluctant for change (despite their country looking very "modern"), and anime tries to escape from that a little bit.
"Decoration English" reminds me of this dress I have from Italy with the text 'below the salt'. Every time someone asks me what it means I have to explain that it was made by people with limited english, and really doesn't mean anything.
@@tortis6342 You could be taking the opportunity to tell a new semi-plausible lie every time. I guess you're a nicer person than I am.

Yeah, apart from making fun of the lyrics, I had fun emulating their style. They're a talented pair.
The part that stands out to me as being very different from Jeff’s writing is that he uses a lot of non conventional chord progressions in his songs, especially after V2. I felt like the one used here was waaaayy more simple than what Jeff writes.

RWBY, also known in some circles as "AMV, the full length series"
This is probably the best way to find out Hbomberguy’s uploaded: now I get to watch this AND have something to watch once I’ve finished!
I remember once wanting to record the film "Bad Boys" when I was 10. Mainly because I was interested in what an 18 rated film would be like. So I did the exact same trick! Except I was like "hey mum can I record the Simpsons?" they were on channel 4 at 6 but I just pretended they ran over for a double bill and then I could start the VCR recording on long play at 6:30 just before bedtime and boom! I had a (very low res and jittery) copy of bad boys (with all the ads). I can vividly remember the disappointment watching it back when I realised "18 Rated" just meant they were effin' and jeffin' every other word. It was a huge let down so I never did it again!
Lol. You just picked the wrong movie!
So good to see that hilarious VCR sketch in context hahaaaaa

Glad to be of service. It's important this story is told right!
I've only read the title and I already know this is going to be the best video I watch all year.
I was first introduced to RWBY through a crossover fanfiction, got to say the descriptions that I had in my head where orders of magnitude more pleasant to "look" at than the actual TV show.

And I really enjoy RWBY, its fights, progress in animation quality, cute characters and some of the intros (musically and the way they are produced/how they sound)
Now, I'm somewhat of an apologist for the series, I like it, even though I'm also of the mind that it isn't particularly good. There's some redeeming qualities, but especially over the last couple years, kinda just feels like it lost its focus/impetus, and the production values aren't strong enough to carry it on their own. The one thing I do stan about RWBY is that a lot of the music actually is pretty strong, but that's the only hill I'm willing to die on.

I feel like a lot of us modern anime watchers forget just how utterly brutal and graphic the medium largely was around the 80's. Most of this was predicated by stuff like Fist of the North Star, of course, but also infamously Devilman, and other works by Go Nagai such as Violence Jack. A lot of that has been buried in the annals of history and people nowadays, who are so used to the highly refined and often cutesy aesthetic, don't really realize that in the 80's, hyper violent OVAs and movies were a dime a dozen. I find it a very interesting part of anime's history, even if I'm not terribly interested in watching any of it.
