They would have, AFTER POWING planted the seed on the first farms, but by next season they had bought or made harrows to fluff out the furrows. After that they would have marked off the rows to be planted by making a sled like machine that cut markers spaced say, around 40in apart going entirly across the field one way, say N TO S. then do the same thing going from E TO W say. Where those lines intersected the kids would pull or push the handles dropping the corn seed.

No Anthony, They didnt live long back then. By and large, they lived much shorter. My grandad lived a bit longer than my G Grandad. My dad lived 15yrs longer than my grandad. Im 74 and Ive lived a year longer than my grandad, so far, and im still farming, a bit. Accident happened all the time. My grandmom was married to a man till 1906. He first got run over by a wagon full of ear corn. Then he finally got squashed between a horse and the manger when a neighboring horse reached over and bit the horse he was in front of causing it to lungh forward crushing him. Accidents happened all the time. Getting cut while cutting timber, accidently shooting ones self, runaways, tripping and falling around a buzz saw. Sometimes drinking helped these accidents occure. Doctors were MANY miles away, and IF the farm didnt have a telephone yet, then somebody would have to go into town to fetch the doc and bring him back, and in most times by that time it was too late. Steam engine explosions were common enough that in some years, there was an explosion every day tween late spring and early fall, somewhere in the USA. Sickness. The simple illnesses we more or less take for granted killed MANY people back then. Spanish Flu wiped out millions in town and country. A neighbor, who went to school, GS, with my dad was immune to it, so his dad made him do the chores on several farms where the men were prostate from the flu. He told dad, he wished theyd either get well or die as he was tired of doing all their chores. He later became a drunkered when I knew him, nor that the one has anything to do with the other. Babies died regulary, My grandmom lost one with her first husband, and one with my grandad,

My goodness I really don't think 🤔 people remember what all our ancestors had to go thru just to eat and survive! But they will soon know!

Not really, they didn't have much medical knowledge, so they'd succumb to rather simple diseases and pregnancy complications more frequently.

You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.
