    Some lore if you're curious:
Theater: the masked character is Jhin, he's a legendary serial killer who treats his killings as art. His "performances" have been causing trouble for a powerful merchant family in the city of Piltover, so they send their enforcer Camille to apprehend him. However, Jhin anticipated Camille was coming, so he laid out a trap in advance. The story is explored more in the Zed comic.
Arena: The character in the stands is Draven, he runs most of the fight pits in the Noxian Empire. He's overseeing a fight involving another character, Riven, who had betrayed Noxus after witnessing them unleash chemical weapons. Riven intrigues him, so he throws her runic blade down into the arena and faces her himself. The setup for this story occurred in the Sisterhood of War trilogy of short stories.
Village: The character with the knives is Irelia, she was a resistance leader and figurehead in the previous Noxian invasion of Ionia. She's defending this village from a returning Noxian army, but is overpowered by their undead general, Sion. At the last moment, Irelia is saved by Karma, Ionia's spiritual leader. Also arriving are several other notable Ionians, including Akali, an assassin, Yasuo, a disgraced swordsman, and Kennen, a prominent figure in the Kinkou Order. They successfully rally the villagers and manage to push back Sion's army. The events leading up to this story are unknown, but it's likely they will be explored following the release of the spinoff game "Ruined King: A League of Legends Story."

Thanks for all the background character info! And Jhin looks like a serial killer that would consider it “performance art” 😡 out of all the characters, he had such a creepy vibe to him 🙈

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames There's a reason why Jhin is one of the game's most popular champions. No champion in the game has quite nailed their lore, cinematics, AND gameplay the way he has. I play him fairly regularly and even his quotes send chills up my spine: "I never hurt anyone... It's the performance that kills." Damn, that's a quote...

When Jhin started shooting at Camille he was intentionally missing because he was guiding her to where he wanted her to be killed. This observation was not mine, I read it in the comments of the original video. Just wanted to let you guys know.

A fun and awesome fact about the big dude with an axe. His name is Sion, he's basically an undead Juggernaut. In the last battle he fought as a human, he lead an army against a Demacian army which is lead by it's king Jarvan the I. While both armies were retreating, he got so mad at the fact he didn't get to kill the king that he straight up turned back and chase the king's army alone, the dude is such a god damn UNIT that he literally plowed through Jarvan the I's army, tanking HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of cuts and slashes. But despite all of that he still had enough strength to not only reach the king, but also proceeds to ripped off the crown and choke the king to death WITH ONE HAND.
If you guys look at him again, you'll notice that he has a metal object attached to his bottom jaw. That metal object is in fact the crown that he ripped off from the head of King Jarvan the I.
He is my favourite character in all of League. If this doesn't make people think he's a badass, I don't know what will!

The Ending Encounter at the End in the Theater was between Jhin (the phantom of the opera like guy) and Camille (Cyborg with scissor feet). The thing with Jhin is everything is a performance and at the end when he bows it is because it was actually the finale (Jhins mechanic in game is he has 4 shots) and when he bowed he had only used 3 of the 4. So it is hinted that Luring Camille in at the end was the finale with the 4th shot.

You get a great look into his twisted mind. In some he almost shows remorse "I swear each performance will be the last, but I lie every time" in others his obsessive nature "perfection isnt good enough" others are simple but the delivery gives them such impact " when they find you they will cry" you can tell he knows what he is doing is wrong to a degree he just thinks that "art is worth the pain". Jhin, the Virtuoso (my personal favorite of the bunch, even though they're all amazing): A masked, psycopathic serial killer, who believes his murder to be a form of art, using exceptionally powerful hextech (magic technology) weaponry to make the final moment of his victims as beautiful as he can imagine and he can imagine a lot, considering his uncanny ability to legitimately set up an entire murderous performance for each of his murders. Also, has an obsession with the number 4 for some reason, hence why literally every piece of his gear has something 4 related to it (traps explode after 4 seconds, gun has 4 shots and the 4th is most powerful, has a shoulder-mounted grenade launcher, the projectile of which bounces 4 times before exploding). In fact, there is soo much 4 related stuff to him, that it would be too much to list here, so moving on...
Draven, the Glorious Executioner (the madlad with the knack for spinny stuff): King of the fight pits, he wields a pair of spinning, double-bladed "axes" (look more like beefy swords to me, but I won't argue with him about it) and is outright addicted to the spectacle of a good fight and having the cheering crowd echo his name around the arena. Perhaps a little overconfident, but the man has the skill to be just that arrogant.
Irelia, the Blade Dancer: The leader of the resistance against that massive army, she is fighting against in her part of the cinematic. Though she apparently got her position less on the basis of leadership skill and more due to the fact, that she was one of the few really skillful people, who would actively take a stand against the invaders and not just sit by to let nature take its course (in her land, many believe, that nature will find its balance on its own and deemed interfering with a nation's worth of soldiers coming in to wreck everything in sight, to be going against nature).
Camille, the Steel Shadow (the authoratative lady with the blade legs): Leader of what is effectively a private police force, operating in a not quite legal fashion. Yet another perfectionist, she just went ahead and got herself augmented big time to maintain whatever sort of order she deems correct with as precise and efficient a use of force as possible. Though it may now also be debatable, if she is even human anymore or just a cold machine.
Riven, the Exile (the chained up brawler lady): The result of what happens, when you have an ambitious soldier rise up through the ranks and then send them to tear up an entirely peaceful nation, which barely even fights back, even when provoked. Of course, she abandoned that army and is now more or less on her own with only that broken runic sword of hers to remind her of the past, she has to reforge. Though, she now has quite a bit more to boot than just the skills worthy of a general and a busted sword (which can reform itself into its complete form magically and is actually more used like a medium weighted short sword rather than a beefy greatsword), as she has picked up some ki related abilities on her journey to redemption.
Sion, the Undead Juggernaut (the humanoid bulldozer with a furnace stomach): A war hero so mighty, the higher ups of his army decided to make him serve even after his death, though now considerably less human and more a weaponized brute, a machine of war, which runs on the souls of friends and foe alike.
Karma, the Enlightened One (shielding lady with the jade crystals floating behind her): An ancient soul, reincarnated countless times across the ages. She seeks to bring harmony and balance to her people and give guidance wherever possible, though she knows that peace is a costly endeavor.
Akali, the Rogue Assassin (masked ninja lady, wielding dagger, kama and smoke bombs): Formerly trained by an order of ninja-style warriors, who uphold balance, she has abandoned them to use her training against an obviously malicious and destructive foe, when they thought it best to let nature balance itself out.
Yasuo, the Unforgiven (the samurai with the gigantic bun): Tragic backstory is tragic, this guy was falsely accused of murder and found himself forced to subsequently kill his own brother in self defence. Technically, all the world has forgiven him at this point, but he has yet to forgive himself. Oh well, at least he has the ability to wield and be guided by the wind with terrifyingly powerful results... like, say, casually whipping up a freaking tornado.
Kennen, the Heart of the Tempest (little, tiny, purple cloaked bundle of lightning and fur): This little ninja is a yordle, a mysterious species of little folk. They seem cute, they seem harmless, but dear lord never underestimate a yordle! This particular one has learned to master the art of tossing around shurikens... and also harness electricity to the point of generating what is undoubtedly a freaking nuke!
Quite the colorful cast of characters, but would you be surprised, if I told you, that we barely scratched the surface here? To be precise, there are an incredible total of 155 champions, each with their own backstory (though some may be more interesting than others) and then we haven't even begun to talk about the world of Runeterra itself. Seriously, the amount of lore there is to discover, that basically plays no part in League of Legends itself, is quite impressive.

League of Legends started on PC, and you can still play it there, but it is also now available in mobile form as "League of Legends: Wild Rift" on mobile devices.
There is also a very cool digital card game set in the same universe called "Legends of Runeterra" (Runeterra is the name of the LoL world) which is on PC and mobile.
I would also highly recommend watching all the other League cinematics, as they're all very well done. You may also enjoy checking out the "Champion Spotlight" videos, which give more insight into each character's story and gameplay style.

The League of Legends Trailers are amazing and I would definitely recommended watching a lot, if not all, of the trailers. Just to keep in mind is that the franchise uses a realm that uses a vast of technology and magic, which might seems why it's confusing. Their is magic, weapons, and steampunk like technology. The game is on PC but it did came out with a mobile version as well. If I would recommend which trailer to look at next would be the LoL Warriors 2020 trailer and LoL New Dawn. But of course, all of the trailers are awesome and some even focuses on a certain character instead of a whole bunch. Love your videos and keep it up! :)

At the moment, already a war between two nations, Noxus and Ionia, the girl with the flying blades is the character Irelia, who is defending Ionia from an attack by a platoon of Noxus and attacked by Sion, the big guy.
This is just a remnant of the whole complex history that is being built in this war, you can see a lot more on the Universe website.

He threw in Rivens runic blade to enter the arena himself because he thought Riven could give him the challenge he is longing for. This got rec'd on my feed, apparently that's how most of the League players got here lmao. There are a LOT of cinematics for League and cover different sort of events, but you can find everything I mention in the League channel's Cinematics playlist. This will be a long comment, bear with me!
Saw mentions of Kin of the Stained Blade, this is a long video but the ending of this ties into a couple other cinematics. The "Ruined King: A League of Legends Story" announcement trailer takes place right after Kin of the Stained Blade's storyline. There is a lot of lore involved, which can be daunting for people unfamiliar with League, but the two Senna cinematics (Dark Passage, Shadow's Embrace), followed by the Ruination cinematic will add more to this particular storyline.
The Tales of Runeterra cinematics! There are a few of these for some of the major regions in the League universe. The Call of the Mountain and Empires of the Ascended trailers for the Legends of Runeterra game are also more region specific cinematics that give you a feel for the world, and they're very pretty to look at, especially the Call of the Mountain one.
If you want more music cinematics, the big ones are the K/DA videos. League has three fictional bands: K/DA (pop styled group), True Damage (hip hop group) and Pentakill (metal group). They all have music videos, Pentakill has "Mortal Reminder" and True Damage has "Giants." K/DA has several, their biggest being their "POP/STARS" debut, then "MORE." There's also "THE BADDEST" (lyric video), "VILLAIN", "I'LL SHOW YOU" (concept videos), and "DRUM GO DUM" (concept dance video). Pentakill has two albums if they're your style. I personally like all three bands but the K/DA is more well known.
An addition the the above, "Get Jinxed!" music video is another good one. Not tied to any bands, but very fun cinematic and good song.
A personal favourite of mine is "Light and Shadow," it's very beautifully animated. It's part of League's Star Guardian alternate universe, with "Burning Bright" and "A New Horizon" preceding it. The latter two are short trailers and the three videos won't give you enough information to tell you what's going on but they have nice sequences.
Other miscellaneous suggestions, the "Welcome Aboard" Odyssey cinematic, "You Really Got Me" Wild Rift trailer, and "Xayah and Rakan: Wild Magic"
There is a ton of content to take in but the League community will help you understand whatever you choose to watch, have fun and enjoy!

Amazing! Thanks so much for all this info and glad you found us as we just start our LoL journey. We had some of these recs in our growing LoL list but just double checking for the Star Guardian series the trailer order goes Burning Bright, New Horizon and Shadow trailer?

    • @Kaikirith
      @Kaikirith 3 года назад +1

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames That's right! Burning Bright was the introduction to Star Guardians and is about Lux (the pink haired girl) and her team. A New Horizon follows up with Ahri (fox girl). I definitely will not explain too much at the moment until you view them yourselves, but I think it may be helpful to point out ahead of time that each Star Guardian has a gem, and the gems Ahri holds at the start of this cinematic have a connection with the characters featured in Light and Shadow. It won't completely piece the story together for you but might give you some additional clues to work with.

I will say while you don’t have to play the game they make some of the best if not the best cinematic and musical content in the industry. You should definitely check out “warriors 2020” “the climb” and before you look at “Ruination” you need to watch “Sennas Embrace” first. I love your reactions! They are fresh and I hope you are reacting to more cinematics and trailers and even the music videos of League of Legends (LoL) - they are all really recommendable and well put together (even though you started with the newest ones and go back ^^ but please keep the dates in mind- e.g. The champion in the arena here in "Awakening" is "Draven", who looks bored there and is the same as in "A New Dawn"(2013) - this alone shows the developement of animation style, quality and detail). League came a long way and it is very interesting to see how they evolved over the years with the quality of animation and also their concepts (cinematics with epic music - no dialogue, cinematics with story elements and dialogue, animated music videos, bringing up a virtual music group with original music) - so they even release an animation series called "Arcane" this fall on netflix ! They just stirr up the gaming industry with new concepts and ideas and that's so much fun about league and keeps the community hooked and hyped for this long :)
Just for the fun: this is the very first teaser trailer of LoL when it was still in BETA Mode - here you can see how they started - a lot more rough (and less budget) than what you see today but you can already see that they have a good sense of concept and music use

I liked the duo dinamic, also the hunger for female represantation. LoL cinematics is famous for being more representative than most games.
For more female power, you should definitely yes definitely check out "Warriors 2020" cinematic.
The first openly "gay character" (I won't explain the quotation marks because of spoilers) has his own cinematic called "Varus: As We Fall".
There are also a lot of music videos, where the ingame characters are made musical artists.
There are three groups made of characters: Pentakill, a metal band that has already two albums; True Damage, a hip-hop group made completely out of non-white characters; and the most famous one is a k-pop female group named K/DA. All these band names have ingame significance.
Also, League of Legends is a game produced by Riot. You can find other cinematics for other Riot games that share the same characters/world than those of League.
And to end this: some cinematics are attached to each other and are better when seen in order. There are these particular ones that were highly anticipated for YEARS: they are about a demon hunter known as Lucian, the Purifier, seeking vengeance on the spectre that killed his wife (Senna) and collected her soul. This is told throughout one teaser and two cinematics: 1. Senna - Dark Passage; 2. The Climb; 3. Senna - Shadow's Embrace. After all that, the two can be seen together in "The Ruination", facing the continuous advance of the shadows they fight against.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It was a mistake by the person. An honest one. But the ending scene of The Climb flows directly into Senna: Shadows Embrace. @@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames yes this is correct -I would also recomment to make one reaction video with you watching all three trailers in order :)
"the climb" is a cinematic with epic music and showcasting abilities and interactions of different champions (like a traditional LoL cinematic is like) but driving into the story direction and ending of Lucian ...
... "Senna: Shadows Embrace" continues this with still no dialogue but only showcasting with gestures and visual story telling some of the lore of Lucian and Senna in order to highlight the introduction of the new champion Senna (support champion but can also be played as a damage dealing adc) being Lucians (is also a damage dealing adc) wife...
...the "Ruination" (last cinematic video) continues with the story of the shadows embrace and leads to the interwined story of the new introduced champion and "evil source" Viego. This video has dialogue and feels more like an ingame cinematic like you know from WoW for example and has an open ending about the upcoming events. [a very rough nut in a shell explanation: Viego is an (arrogant) fallen king from 1000 years ago and possessed by wrath because he lost the love of his wife (after she fell victim to an assassination attempt that should originally kill Viego) and after rescuing her she stabbed him with his own sword and unfolded with this act the upcoming ruination].
      remark:
As you asked about console gaming - they release a game for PS4 and PS5 "Ruined King" which will be most likely heavily related to this part of the League story
here is a trailer for this
