Regarding Jinx and Vi as sisters, Arcane was the first time we got official confirmation of it, but it was very strongly implied in the voice line interactions in the game and story descriptions prior to Arcane that everyone "knew" they were sisters.
that's true. We got official confirmation of the sisterhood finally in 2019 when they were officially announcing Arcane. There was a slip up by an employee in 2015 in an interview but it was strongly denied at that time. But in fact, they planned the whole origin story of the 2 sisters from the start- they just didn't reveal their real connection- instead we were stuck with the presentation of them being somewhat related to each other because they are like cat and mouse and the GEt Jinxed video. They just saved the good parts of the story for the series because it would be boring if the players already knew the whole plot like other videogame adaptations do it. They even rewrote some parts for it because the original lore doesn't match exactly the first ACT. This is in fact the strong part about Arcane and the League lore universe. They mostly never animate things that are already told in a trailer but which are about to be told(--> go watch "The Call" for the best example - there, you can also see how small of a slice Arcane actually is in Runeterra). That's why I highly doubt at this point that we will see Urgot fighting Caitlyn and Vi in the series (at least not in S2) because this was already shown in the "Warriors" cinematic. BUT if Arcane continues to be such a big hit maybe they want to tell the whole story about Piltover & Zaun regardless of that it has already been teased - after all, it is just a small scene in a cinematic- the story behind that was not elaborated in detail until now. . Here is a little making of Arcane - the developers speak about the process of making Arcane with some parts from the developers diary- if you are interested: global.gotomeeting.com/join/775625029
@@captaintropical5939 yes I know that it is not absolutely cannon, that's why I wrote that they rewrote some parts but at this point these are minor parts in my opinion- they tried to keep the essence of the original characters and I wanted to stress the fact that Arcane is a origin story not finished by now and the characters are still developing. So even if Jayce for example doesn't feel like in the game in S1 this may be because his deveopment goes further in S2 -same for Victor and the other characters. Besides, Riot is fee too make Arcane cannon anytime in the future by rewriting the current lore.
@@captaintropical5939 I kept hearing Arcane is canon, so this message made me double check as I could easily remember wrong. But every single thing I find both official as non official says it's canon. So wondering where you got that it isn't.
So Get Jinxed was the introduction to the character when she was first added to the game way back when. One of the first music video type trailers they did and it was a huge hit. There's a bunch of easter eggs from it in Arcane, including the song itself which Jinx is listening to in episode 4 when Silco comes into her room.
@@Mr_wisk just logic. she was listening to her song in arcane. that was not background music, meaning it is cannon in the arcane lore that the song is actually recorded. the only one who would do that is Jinx herself, most probably. or who else would record a song about jinx blowing stuff up?
Seeing the Jinx champion spotlight, gave me nostalgia...the old summoner's rift map, the old runes and masteries.. can't believe that 8 years have past since Jinx got released (well technically 9) lol
@@lightup6751 Elemental dragons similar to Baron spawn. collect 4 kills on dragons (spawn every 5 minutes) and get dragon soul, a permanent buff. there are 6 dragons that rotate, the dragon that spawns 3rd time on the map permenantly changes the map state in a unique way. thats about it... tower's now have plating that grants addition gold for killing them inside of 14 minutes.
@@antonisnicolaou9212 uh alot has changed. skills and runes are gone. picking your role instead of yelling at your teamates before a match. trading champs, the dragons, the jungle dude theres that and more. alot has changed. it may have the same goals but if you stopped before the visual changes and now go back its a different game.
We really needed Arcane to understand Jinx's personality. It's just insane how much depth it has given to her character. Before Arcane we only saw her as a silly psychopath who enjoyed destroying buildings, but now she is just so much more complex
Either she develops later slightly goofier or she was portrayed differently in the Arcane. I get that Arcane was a backstory but she felt almost like different character in that.
@@akitahvanainen Riot isn't sure yet whether if they want to make Arcane the main canon or not. There are so many differences between Arcane's universe and the universe of the game. Things like Jayce having a completely different personality in Arcane, meanwhile he is a jerk who cares about noone but himself in the game's story
I think the game version is definitely more Harley, whereas the Arcane one is more Joker. Arcane portrays someone so damaged and fully psychotic as she does enjoy being who she is now, unrestricted. She kills with no remorse and is easily triggered to well pull the trigger.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yea she still has her connection to Vi, but Powder has long died and only Jinx remains. Her last question at the end of the series for Vi was for Vi to accept her as Jinx and not Powder, and each time Vi called her Powder was just a painful stab to her that her sister wants her to be Powder and not who she is which is Jinx.
It still baffled me how much Get Jinxed's style got retained and improved in Arcane. It's so amazing Also the gameplay of League you guys watched is really old. It looks much better now
I think before arcane released, League of Legends had never really openly mentioned that Jinx and Vi are sisters, but there were many hints in the champion bio of Jinx and Vi and the specific voice lines when Jinx and Vi face each other in the game. The trailers that they dropped for Arcane confirmed that they are sisters.
the devs kinda leaked it prior to arcane i think. I think it was when they were still working in arcane behind the scenes, one of the devs didnt know the fact that vi and jinx were sisters was not public information so they casually mentioned it.
The spotlight is basically saying that Jinx does a lot of damage and is able to kill many enemies in succession. You're right that the spotlight takes a bit of the "discovery" away from the game, but it's mostly meant to be a starting point and there's a lot of ways to build your champion in any given match.
The version of Jinx in the game (and in trailers prior to Arcane) is much more funny and fun-loving than the tragic version we see in Arcane. And I don't think they had any idea that Jinx and Vi would eventually be sisters. Also, back before Riot became a major media outlet creating series and pop music, and LoL was just one of many MOBA games, the female characters were much more one-dimensional (and had a lot less clothes on). Hard to believe that the "Get Jinxed" video was done by the same studio that eventually became Studio Fortiche and went on to create Arcane.
The music from Get Jinxed its what jinx is hearing in ep. 4, when Silko is screaming at her for killing 6 enforcers. Just another wink to old fans. Love it.
First, the wild rift trailer is 100% more light hearted but that is also because its a non-canon trailer for a new game they released and a lot of the other champions in that trailer are much more light hearted then they are in the lore (you just didn't notice because you have no baseline for them as opposed to jinx). As for the get jinxed trailer, it was released around 7 years ago and riot has said that arcane has been in development in some form for 8 years, so they probably had some idea as to what they were doing with her when they made the music video. Is this your first exposure to the actual gameplay of league? This gameplay footage and advice is a bit outdated, but is still good. In case you didn't know, league is constantly updated with not only new champions but graphics updates, new items, and even entirely new game mechanics. The little guys are minions that push towers for you, or if you kill your opponents minions you get gold and experience to level up and buy items. LoL is a game with a very high skill floor to get started, so yes there is a lot going on it it, but I think you guys kept up really well. I think it is really cool how you associated her gameplay to her personality in arcane (on another note, vi is indeed a tank and takes the hits for other people XD). Finally, as for if vi and jinx are sisters in lol, is a strong sort of. There are a bunch of voice lines from both them and other champions hinting that they are sisters, but we never had a solid piece of lore/story saying that they were sisters (or I could be wrong. if so, lore nerds correct me) I also want to throw out some suggestions for future stuff. Lol just came out with a new cinematic that is really good, so I would suggest you guys react to it. I would also suggest that if you love the lore of LoL as much as I do, the short stories that riot puts out are amazing and worth a read (even if you don't react to it). Putting these two suggestions together, the new cinematic actually depicts parts of some of riots newer short stories, so I had a lot of fun watching the cinematic, then going back to read the short stories. if you want, I can provide the exact short stories the cinematic depicts. Even if you are not interested in the shorts, watch the cinematic. It is epic XD Hope I helped a little bit, and I look forward to your next reaction and your next arcane episode.
Definitely helped and we appreciate all that info. And yes, this was our first real taste of gameplay. We saw Akshan’s gameplay a little bit in one video but it wasn’t as detailed as Jinx’s champion spotlight 🙂
I had to come to compliment this legendary wall of explanation. Also would like to add, the moba genre that league belongs to flowered from DotA; a mod for Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne which was, at least partially, developed by the legendary 'Icefrog'. Gameplay is structured the same, as a 5v5 with creeps (minions of DotA). It was incredibly popular, but eventually the devs decided they wanted to do more with the DotA concept. Icefrog was involved in the development of DotA2 and others went on to make League of Legends. And like that, a whole genre was born, off the passion of a bunch of nerds.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames 6 years from Idea to release. In fact, there were creating concept, choosing champions, artstyle, voice actors etc. Peak of production took about 3 years (including pandemic problems). So now they have almost everything (script, characters, style, many already done locations, etc), that`s why it will not take too long this time.
the blonde one is Lux. She is from Demacia and she´s a mage :D. also super secure next season of Arcane feature Demacia and Noxus. Demacians was mage slayers. and yes! Lux is a hidden magician in a non magic era.
love love love you two's league reactions so far and can't wait till your post arcane discussion! If you're looking more more arcane-based league content for reactions i highly recommend Path of Champions: Jinx's Story | Legends of Runeterra, its a post-arcane bit of content from the league game that was actually part of an event promoting the show and has lore for Vi, Jinx, and Cait post arcane in a similar vein checking out the Ekko and Caitlyn special interaction videos by Skinspotlights is a really cool way to check out how characters are ingame/ their ingame personalities without the surplus of mechanic info
Jinx was released in 2013 and Vi came out before her. Arcane started development 7 years ago in 2015. Lore was very loose and fast for a long time and it wasn't until around 2014 when they decided to reign things in and really focus on ways to allow continuity between champions and regions.
You guys HAVE to see the new 2022 Cinematic League of Legends just came out with. It's called "The Call", and it's the most realistic looking trailer I think they've ever made!
You asked how far in advance before they decided to make Jinx and Vi the showrunners in an animated series? The best answer I have read was an interview with the developers, who said they started working on Arcane around 6-7 years ago. The Jinx music video was around 8 or 9 years ago.
this is awesome finally someone reacting to champion's spotlights !! hope you guys will react to more champion spotlight videos, kayn's Champion Teaser and Champion Spotlight are really great hope to see his next, have a great day ^^
there were hints they were sisters. but they kept it under covers and was an "open secret" likely because they were working on the show. they started working on the show a little before the spotlight came out. its been in production a long time
Vi and Jinx being sisters was only heavily implied in league of legends for example in their splash art they both have the same background but for Vi the background is all nice and clean and in Jinx's art its all demolished rubble. Riot didn't really outright say that they were sisters until recently.
Jinx came out in 2013, Vi came out in 2012 and they started getting Arcane together in about 2016, from what I think I saw on a video. I was amazed how much they integrated into the show from past videos with them in it.
It seems interesting that there are more videos about Jinx that brings a joyful side of her than her depression state during Arcane times. Also best to watch how LOL championship goes as it’s very insane to see. Oh yeah Lol Wild Wrath is a mobile version of the game, just more mobile than on computer screen.
they decided to make jinx the main face of league when everyone showed how much they loved her she was popular on release but its just gotten more and more popular thru the years
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames for sure probably as high as ever and will keep rising for a while still espacially if season 2 turns out as good as the first one
Jinx was hinted at being Vi's sister several ways. the background of Jinx's original skin splash art is a destroyed version of Vi's Jinx has a line in game that says "You think I'M crazy?... *lowers voice*(you should see my sister)"
The evolution of Jinx as a character concept early on, comes mainly from the expanded lore of her new game skins: the Odissey Jinx one is "guardians of the galaxy-esque" themed, in which Jinx is portrayed to be a quirky mechanic with an attraction to explosions and bad guys, while another skin is Star Guardian Jinx, a "sailor moon-esque" themed skin in which she is portrayed as a cocky, magical girl loner with a troubled past and a heart of gold. All together they lightened up the tone of Jinx while also adding to her complexity, making her a very fun character.
"Wonder how far in advance after like creating this character are they like, Oh yeah you know we're gonna make a series based on Jinx and Vi." - Day 1. Arcane has been present in artwork and cinematics from nearly the start of LoL. We just didn't know what her relationship was to Vi until Arcane itself was released. You can imagine the shipping that went on. Vi has her own, "Theme song" that the singers duet. It's pretty amazing. ruclips.net/video/ZZmlUuTrQ_g/видео.html
Not exactly, there's has been a lot of changes between Arcane and the original designs, obvious stuff like Vi not being her real name. It wasn't particularly more complex than any other major subplots the game had.
Vi does have her own theme song as well, "Here Comes Vi" sung by Nicki Taylor. there was also a mashup of "Get Jinxed" and "Here Comes Vi" sung by Nicki Taylor and her friend Lunity(not the original singer), i recommend checking those out
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames and if you think Jinx was well made because her development respects her gameplay, let's take a look at the others : - Jayce is a high damage range champion that can switch to a even higher damage melee weapon. His gameplay needs a lot of reflection but still has a very impulsive style. - Viktor is a mage who casts powerful spells he created himself using something that look like "forbidden" technology. - Vi is a bruiser. She has all the skills you need to engage and win a close-combat fight using her fists. The more she stays in a fight, the harder she hits you. - Caitlyn is a real sniper, she uses her range to harass and takedown opponents. She has a role similar to Jinx, but her gameplay is more strategic as she can set up traps. - Heimerdinger is a mage who places turrets, he relies a lot on the safety of those. He is very strong if he manages to take a position and less powerful if you manage to force him to move. Annnnd Warwick is... about to come :D
I have to say that the championspotlight for Jinx is really old and the game was updated and overhauled several times since then. it looks better now and for example the runes and masteries system which was shortly shown got completely revamped. also fun fact: the song she listens to in her lab when silco interrupts her in arcane is actually her league introduction song from this vid. so in arcane she is crazy enough to record a song about herself blowing up stuff
Arcane changes all the characters to the point that they are more like alternative versions of themselves instead of the same one. Arcane improved every character by a lot, so Jinx is shown more serious instead of the fun crazy self of her in-game version. You should have reacted to "Welcome Aboard" instead of the spotlight. Arcane is the first time where it was officially said that they where sisters, before it was just theory.
Heavy Arcane spoilers below: The reason she's less unhinged in arcane is because her transition hasn't finished completely. Throughout the show we see her protest the voices in her head, which we can assume cause a fair bit of suffering within her. At the ending though, we see her embrace the voices that have tormented her for years, and she let's go of any semblance of Powder and by extension restraint and guilt within her. She becomes a manic sociopath with the chaotic and impulsive tendencies of an 8 year old, which is around the time she suffered her life scarring trauma, because trauma often causes such developmental blocks as a defense mechanism since people can't accept what happened, and rather stay in the mental state before the traumatizing experience.
so I just want to make things straight, there was an event when Arcane was released which is RiotxArcane, where it explains what happened on the Worlds ( Arcane was released around the World competition or after). Arcane and the Lol game and Wild rift is a multiverse just like what happened in What if or Loki. in the core universe it was never been mention that Jinx relation to Vi until a story in LOR where Jinx is confirmed to be Vi little sister but such as her background. I think the game universe will be so different than arcane, such as how she might be never be traumatized before or others (there are a lot different background stories on all characters). so yeah that's why you might felt that Jinx is so different between trailers.
Ah okay. So Arcane is a different multiverse than the game. That works and is a way for them to keep them separate and not be tied down to keep stuff in Arcane that works in the game but might not work for story telling 🙂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames even tho they are totally different, they still have some traits such as characters and the development of the stories. It was stated that they are not brave enough to make Arcane as canon story also to make it unpredictable by the lore lovers/community in lol community
To answer your questions about the Vi/Jinx sisterhood, that was actually a fan theory that was never confirmed until Arcane. Also Jinx was released for League of Legends on October 10th, 2013. Vi didn’t release until December 19th, 2012. Just wanted to put some perspective on the show’s background/development.
Jinx was made way back year ago. In the canon story Vi had a "unknown sister". Everyone speculated that Jinx was the sister. Also jinx story didn't have a origin story. We only knew her pike a crazy destruction girl who love to cause chaos and destruction. Like a joker.
Quick simple explanation. The 1st trailer was to promote the launch of League of Legends for mobile, Jinx was not the focus, that trailer never really happens. The second trailer was to promote the launch of Jinx when she 1st came to the game(PC), and even tough the events here never happen, the city, and everything related to Jinx do exists or connects to the universe. The third trailer was just a video explaining the champion(Jinx) to the game community. Something that might be worth listening to are the voice lines for the champions, there are multiple of them and are all available at "SkinSpotlights" channel (Jinx is from piltovel/zaun, so, something related to piltover/zaun might have her involved). The theme songs for such champions are also cool, mainly "Vi champion theme", they also have the Original design in the background for the champions, which is cool to see the differences. The theme + Original design are available at League of Legends original channel.
this old champ spotlights have so more infos in as the new ones. the new ones are only. "here look cool OP spells but we dont realy show weaknesses so have fun."
Holy crap, I never noticed that in the champion spotlight for Jinx they had nothing but Arcane characters in there. They had to have been working on the show already if the characters they put in this spotlight were Cait, Jayce, and Vi. That cannot be coincidence.
Alright, got a couple of things to say, (sorry for the essay). That champion spotlight was before the general game visual update that happened a few years ago, so league doesn't look like that anymore, looks WAY better, smoother, far more modern. - I'll give a simple/GENERAL overview to untangle the gameplay clips. It's a 5 v 5 game on a huge map divided diagonally, top left to bottom right. There are several roles a champ can be. There are two types of damage: physical and magic. Each champ has their basic 'auto-attack' and unique abilities. Positions you can choose in game: Toplaner, 2 Botlaners, Midlaner, and Jungler. - You earn gold for killing any enemy unit. Each champion is either ranged or melee (Jinx would be ranged*). There are three general lanes, middle, top and bot lane. Everywhere else is the jungle. At the two opposite ends are each team's base. The goal is, simply, to destroy the enemy base. - Those little guys are 'Minions', theyre generated by your base and act independently. You farm (kill) enemy minions (and enemy Champions) earning gold. There are other monsters in the jungle that are worth more gold (a position is 'Jungler' they roam the jungle killing monsters for gold. Gold is to buy items in game, to get stronger to be able to help your team). - Roles, some champions can occupy multiple roles - the terms below are common over many games: "Mage" (magic damage dealers) "Assassin" (physical or magic damage dealers, very mobile - high burst of damage) "Fighter/Bruiser" (sustained damage - usually a front line champion) "Tank" (absorb a significant amount of enemy damage, engage enemy team - front line champion) "Support" (champ that helps other champs, healing, shielding, keeping enemies away, stuns...etc) "Marksman/ADC" (i.e. Jinx - Physical damage dealer, delivers high amount of sustained damage. "Attack Damage Carry" - i.e. if they're 'fed' enough enemies (and earn a lot of gold) buy items in game to increase damage 'carrying' the game for the team) This is VERY GENERALLY how the game works. It does have a bit of a steep learning curve. But very addictive once you know how it works haha
Wish riot made more music videos like "Get Jinxed" for new champions. They have made plenty of good trailers for stuff but nothing hits me the same way like "Get Jinxed" it give you so much incite into the character well just being a damn good song you can listen to even if you dont play the game
Crazy how the time flies remember playing it 10 years ago at 2011 when i started, you can clearly see these guys have perfect marketing, they put money into a story based cinematics or just music cinematics thst have kinda very far from the game though of course it acts as an ad for the game aswell. The get jinxed video was actually a first music cinematic focused video from league, though actually their first music song if i don't mention the game soundtrack was actually from VI. I miss the good old times where the game was so slow, hour long matches very fun times.
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The game is becoming faster, since almost most of these new champions added to game everyone of them has leap dash or somekind of other way of mobility, items become progressively better and same with runes, all this stacks to bigger damage and quicker game, which makes killing enemies and pushing to the enemy base faster, the average game is now around 25 minutes, of course you rarely you still meet those 45 minute matches though teams need to be very well balanced to get this kind of result.
Speaking of Arcane.... When are the rest of your videos coming out for it? Did you guys already watch the entire series, or do you still have to watch and record your reaction? There are only the 1st 3 so far.
Jinx is totally one of my favourite characters in the game. That trailer made me fall in "love" with her lol. You should check out amumu trailer if you haven't already!
Also, do note: In the game lore, there is no familial connection between Vi and Jinx. Some implied, perhaps. The real relationship is between Cait and Vi as coworkers, both being inforcers. Cait is much more rigid/strict/by the book, which Arcane removed from her a bit (very welcomed, might I add lol), while Vi is the loose cannon partner who Cait is constantly chasing down and trying to keep up with who will do anything to get things done. Vi / Cait / Jinx = Batman / Gordon / Joker in the game. When paired together or put on different teams, they have special voice lines to jeer/taunt/pep talk each other.
the game can be very chaotic, there are 10 players in a game 5v5, as well as neutral(computer controlled) enemies, i have been playing for almost 2 years and i still sometimes get lost with everything happening on-screen
I think the main thing violence does for her is make her feel powerful. She has many traumatic memories of not being in control, not being good enough, and messing things up. You can't really mess up however, if your goal is just chaotic destruction. She also messes with people's minds to feel in control (the voice recordings in the tent with dynamite, the swing that says "boom" on the ship, the entire performance in the last episode,...).
The first video is Wild Rift, much like Tales of Runeterra, the other league game - it's pretty light hearted. Granted with Arcane they made Jinx, and a lot of the characters in Arcane are more serious and "realistic" then sort of goofy personalities with quirks in their original states - also Jinx is a fairly old character now in League and I really feel that the Arcane Jinx is more of the now intended integration of her personality and back ground since she has stepped away from the whole "Harley Quinn" vibe in which I'm sure she was originally inspired by. I can't imagine how odd it was to watch gameplay breakdown of Jinx in League of Legends - can't be very exciting unless you actually play the game lol. I would recommend if doing a bundle of videos on a character definitely skip that unless you have an interest in learning about the game itself, though since Arcane does typically utilize each characters abilities from League of Legends in might make a fun experiment to try and point them when they were used in Arcane.
Considering the Get Jinxed video is around 9 years old, its pretty impressive how much of Jinx's style holds true in Arcane. Using the striped bits of her costume as her tie to her younger outfit from childhood. The reuse of the cymbal monkey in Arcane and the Enemy music video. Jinx's tendency to graffiti her weapons and places she's been. It seems basic to recycle the visuals in future appearances, but with Arcane it adds more meaning. League's lore years ago before Jinx used to be pretty sparse. Riot initially focused more on gameplay and adding new characters for a while. The character details left much to the imagination, maybe only detailing where they came from. This seems to be happening with most game/comic studios though. Its interesting how far we've come as a society when it comes to character development techniques in storytelling. From basics like bad guy vs good guy, good vs evil to sympathetic villains and flawed heroes.
The arcane version of them are sisters but in game they are not. There is a song for vi called Get Dunked and then just champion spotlight. And it's okay if you don't get what he is saying in the champion spotlight for jinx. But just imagine if Harley Quinn and the joker had a daughter.
The Lore in League on Jinx was pretty vague, it was just clear that Jinx was heavily focused on Vi all the time and Vi also was very focused on getting Jinx but it was never really established why it was that way.
So the first trailer - at the point of League of Legends gameplay, there are no real "good" and "bad" because of the way the matches run and the teams are picked. Any team can pick any combination of characters. League is like the "all stars" or "olympic games" for all of Runeterra. Champions are "invited" to play in these games. So you can have instances where Vi, Jinx and Cait are on the same team (not ideal based on how teams are normally built, but it's been done lol). So while watching these scenematics, keep that in mind - any group of people you see interacting one way you will mostly definitely see again but in a completely different way in either the same video or a different one.
Hey guys! These are some interactions between the characters (in the game) that make sense now that arcane is out, because before some didn't have it ruclips.net/video/hLJ_XIFCGkw/видео.html
Definitely you have to see the trailer of the thematic odyssey "Welcome aboard" along with the videos of "Star guardian", I love to see your reactions :D greetings from Argentina
Well Jinx is the concequence, a crazy woman who have fun destryoing things and is always screaming and laughing, Arcane is the story behind Jinx and others League of Legends characters, that's why the LoL and non LoL players enjoy the show, Because it's and amazing and tragic story well written, but LoL players we all knew before Arcane that jinx was a crazy fun woman, if you see the comments in Jinxed Video, you can see people saying "this hits different after Arcane", oh the misery :(.
Yes they "change" some story things to make Arcane, but don't worry they made a great job doing all make sense. The story of this champion back there when was released were too diferent, because the story hints at Jinx had a lost sister, but the hints were different meaning, she was more a insane criminal with an obsession on Vi and Caitlyn and seems that her sister were another character from LoL, the time passed and Riot games started to change and fix a lot of storylines when suddenly Arcane appear and they confirmed that Jinx sister is Vi.
New champions in League always come with some background lore and often have some relations with other characters (siblings, masters, avenge stories) These stories are short but enough to give character to the champions. Many parts however can be open to interpretation. Arcane is based on those characters, let's say it's insipired, or used them as reference instead of being a natural extension to the characters of the game. I doubt when Jinx was made, they were expecting to make a show around her. Using the league world as a base for a show has a lot of potential, but it probably never be super canon. (Think Walking dead comic vs the show, or GoT books vs the show.)
I think jinx came out back then when they didn’t put lots of lore. I remember her lore was just a girl that caused chaos around she goes but never actually killed someone, she earned the name jinx because you were simply unlucky to her in your path.
@@marc789 there was more than that. One of her lines in-game was, if you think I am crazy you should see my sister, refering to Vi. Also in the gameplay video she used her ult on 3 champions, Vi, Caitlyn and jayce, chosen not by mistake.
The Vi/Jinx thing was HINTED at being sisters, and perhaps explicitly stated in places. BUT Arcane was really the big open CLEAR revelation that they were sisters. Similarly, there have been many references in game to Vi and Caitlyn being partners . . . but there were only hints of them being "partners", which again, the show is building on. Similarly, we know that Jayce and Viktor are going to part ways, but how and when, and what the exact details are has never been elaborated upon. "Ekko: Seconds" fills out Ekko's story in a similar way that "Get Jinxed" kinda filled out a bit of Jinx's story. There are other hints about in-game characters: Mel's family may be running afoul of Swain, a Noxian general. We may have glimpsed Warwick and had his backstory fleshed out more than we want. (likely coming in Season 2) Riot's done SUCH a good job building onto their long-standing lore without doing too much "nuke and pave" on the previous storylines. Glad you're starting to find how much detail they've put into it! Thanks for the reaction.
Glad you enjoyed the reaction and we are definitely impressed with how they were able to pull from the game for inspiration while still making it fluid and easy to follow for those who never played. 😀
This is from a LoL era in which lore was an afterthought. As you could see, LoL is not a narrative driven game, so lore was never on the forefront. Arcane comes from a change in philosophy within riot games, to try and make a more cohesive universe, probably because of plans to move forward more games and move into other kinds of media. I love what Arcane brought to the table but I can't help to feel a little nostalgic watching the old trailers.
BUT if Arcane continues to be such a big hit maybe they want to tell the whole story about Piltover & Zaun regardless of that it has already been teased - after all, it is just a small scene in a cinematic- the story behind that was not elaborated in detail until now. .
Here is a little making of Arcane - the developers speak about the process of making Arcane with some parts from the developers diary- if you are interested:

@@redroseibarahime8755 it was confirmed by riot that arcane is’t in the cannon universe tho
Cool beans. 🙂
There's a bunch of easter eggs from it in Arcane, including the song itself which Jinx is listening to in episode 4 when Silco comes into her room.
the real crazy thing is that she actually had to record the song herself in the lore of arcane to do that
😎🤟😀
Jinx came out almost a decade ago now
the character is about 8 or 9 years old at this point
@@uzrdutiutfiztdf3545 where did you get that lore piece?
@@Mr_wisk just logic. she was listening to her song in arcane. that was not background music, meaning it is cannon in the arcane lore that the song is actually recorded. the only one who would do that is Jinx herself, most probably. or who else would record a song about jinx blowing stuff up?
Seeing the Jinx champion spotlight, gave me nostalgia...the old summoner's rift map, the old runes and masteries.. can't believe that 8 years have past since Jinx got released (well technically 9) lol
Time flies right? 😯☺️🤗
I havent played since that old rift map. what has happened since then?

We really needed Arcane to understand Jinx's personality. It's just insane how much depth it has given to her character. Before Arcane we only saw her as a silly psychopath who enjoyed destroying buildings, but now she is just so much more complex
Lots of layers to her indeed 🥲
So Harley
@@robertgandy9792 More like if Harley Quinn and the joker had a baby jinx is what popped out
Katie 'TeaTime' De Sousa stated Jinx was inspired by the Batman villain the Joker, Gollum from The Lord of the Rings, and Helena Bonham Carter.
But she still has that connection to Vi. There is still a soul in there we’d like to hope 😢
It's so amazing
Also the gameplay of League you guys watched is really old. It looks much better now
No idea but somewhere I heard or read that they were working on arcane at that point. Or at least it was being discussed.
We heard the gameplay champion spotlight trailers got better too 😊
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Oh yea for sure!
If you guys want another jinx cinematic shes pretty much the star of the Welcome Aboard Odyssey trailer

I m waiting for the reaction to "The Call" new cinematic. It was legendary
Seconded!
IT STILL LEGENDARY!
We will for sure be checking that one out 😁🥳🥳😎🤟
I don't know if yall known but neat tidbit is that Get Jinxed was playing in the background when Jinx was dancing in Arcane while Silco was yelling
We didn’t realize that 😯😀 Thanks for sharing that info
I think before arcane released, League of Legends had never really openly mentioned that Jinx and Vi are sisters, but there were many hints in the champion bio of Jinx and Vi and the specific voice lines when Jinx and Vi face each other in the game. The trailers that they dropped for Arcane confirmed that they are sisters.
the devs kinda leaked it prior to arcane i think. I think it was when they were still working in arcane behind the scenes, one of the devs didnt know the fact that vi and jinx were sisters was not public information so they casually mentioned it.
😎👍😀
The spotlight is basically saying that Jinx does a lot of damage and is able to kill many enemies in succession. You're right that the spotlight takes a bit of the "discovery" away from the game, but it's mostly meant to be a starting point and there's a lot of ways to build your champion in any given match.
😎👍😀
You dont have any idea how long I was waiting this video, I love it :)))
😊🤗🥳🥳☺️🥰
Love it.
Love that they put that in there for people to recognize that new the song beforehand 😀
I’m like 90% sure she blows up that airship in the music video because Milo says he wants to shoot one down someday in Arcane
That’s actually a pretty cool theory 😀
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames you said you watched arcane already so I want to know if you remember hearing that song at all during the show
I'd never seen the Jinx spotlight before, and the game looks way different now so this was cool to see. Thanks :)
Our pleasure 🙂🥳
There are a bunch of voice lines from both them and other champions hinting that they are sisters, but we never had a solid piece of lore/story saying that they were sisters (or I could be wrong. if so, lore nerds correct me)
I also want to throw out some suggestions for future stuff.
It is epic XD
Hope I helped a little bit, and I look forward to your next reaction and your next arcane episode.
Arcane was 6 years in production and Jinx got released in late 2013, took em few years to think out the story
Can’t believe they worked on it for 6 years 😯 Hope that’s not how long season 2 takes 😂
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames they showed in the trailer for the show i think, that the next 2 seasons will come in November of 2022 and 2023
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames 6 years from Idea to release. In fact, there were creating concept, choosing champions, artstyle, voice actors etc. Peak of production took about 3 years (including pandemic problems). the blonde one is Lux. She is from Demacia and she´s a mage :D. also super secure next season of Arcane feature Demacia and Noxus. Demacians was mage slayers. and yes! Lux is a hidden magician in a non magic era.

Thanks so much for the vid rec on more Arcane related stuff 😀
Jinx was released in 2013 and Vi came out before her. Arcane started development 7 years ago in 2015. Lore was very loose and fast for a long time and it wasn't until around 2014 when they decided to reign things in and really focus on ways to allow continuity between champions and regions.
Glad they finally decided to reign things in and focus on the lore and backstories 😊

You asked how far in advance before they decided to make Jinx and Vi the showrunners in an animated series? The best answer I have read was an interview with the developers, who said they started working on Arcane around 6-7 years ago. The Jinx music video was around 8 or 9 years ago.
That’s still a really long time in advance 😯
this is awesome finally someone reacting to champion's spotlights !! hope you guys will react to more champion spotlight videos, kayn's Champion Teaser and Champion Spotlight are really great hope to see his next, have a great day ^^
Another vote for Kayn. Must be cool spotlight trailer 😀
there were hints they were sisters. but they kept it under covers and was an "open secret" likely because they were working on the show. they started working on the show a little before the spotlight came out. its been in production a long time
😎👍🙂
Vi and Jinx being sisters was only heavily implied in league of legends for example in their splash art they both have the same background but for Vi the background is all nice and clean and in Jinx's art its all demolished rubble. Riot didn't really outright say that they were sisters until recently.
😎👍🙂
Knowing what I know about Jinx now I can’t help but cry every time i see the toy monkey
Jinx had the best league of legends character introduction ever

Jinx came out in 2013, Vi came out in 2012 and they started getting Arcane together in about 2016, from what I think I saw on a video. I was amazed how much they integrated into the show from past videos with them in it.
Such a long time for them to be working on it even from 2016 😯
It seems interesting that there are more videos about Jinx that brings a joyful side of her than her depression state during Arcane times. Also best to watch how LOL championship goes as it’s very insane to see. Oh yeah Lol Wild Wrath is a mobile version of the game, just more mobile than on computer screen.
We definitely like the joyful Jinx more. To watch at least. Easier to watch her happy and destructive than sad and destructive 😢
they decided to make jinx the main face of league when everyone showed how much they loved her she was popular on release but its just gotten more and more popular thru the years
And will only grow with Arcane we imagine 🤩
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames for sure probably as high as ever and will keep rising for a while still espacially if season 2 turns out as good as the first one
Jinx was hinted at being Vi's sister several ways.
the background of Jinx's original skin splash art is a destroyed version of Vi's
Jinx has a line in game that says "You think I'M crazy?... *lowers voice*(you should see my sister)"
Like the hints they had dropped in the game for that 🙂
I have heard that they started planning arcane shortly after they released VI as a character. so that's nearly 6 years of development if that's true.
That is some serious planning. No wonder it was so good 🤩
Never knew Jinx got her own "Collective Miscellany". Nice!
Haha, We got that Genshin Impact reference actually 😅🙃
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Yep. I kinda expected that. 😊
😎🤟😀
Damn! 😯 That is some planning right there 😀🥳😎🤟
Seeing that champion spotlight brought back memories, I started back in season 2, the game is so different now

It’s cool they had those little bits and hints and dialogue interactions that now mean so much more ☺️😊
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames and if you think Jinx was well made because her development respects her gameplay, let's take a look at the others :
- Jayce is a high damage range champion that can switch to a even higher damage melee weapon.
Thanks for sharing the fun fact about the song 😀
Toss out any dreams of Jinx becoming a hero, she was born a villain lol
😈
Arcane changes all the characters to the point that they are more like alternative versions of themselves instead of the same one.
Arcane improved every character by a lot, so Jinx is shown more serious instead of the fun crazy self of her in-game version.
You should have reacted to "Welcome Aboard" instead of the spotlight.
Arcane is the first time where it was officially said that they where sisters, before it was just theory.
Heavy Arcane spoilers below:
The reason she's less unhinged in arcane is because her transition hasn't finished completely.
Yup. That should’ve been the third vid. We tried to find a third Jinx vid and that is like a hidden one when we did a search 😂🤗
Wow seeing the old league map and models is a trip

Whoever has exclusive voting power get them to react to Deus Ex franchise and the Infamous series.
Both on our list to check our eventually 😅
so I just want to make things straight, there was an event when Arcane was released which is RiotxArcane, where it explains what happened on the Worlds ( Arcane was released around the World competition or after).
Oh man. Anyone else remember Runes and Masteries? I miss those.
Thanks! 🙂
Jinx was made way back year ago.
In the canon story Vi had a "unknown sister". Everyone speculated that Jinx was the sister.
Also jinx story didn't have a origin story. We only knew her pike a crazy destruction girl who love to cause chaos and destruction. Like a joker.
😎👍🙂
That’s cool each champ has their own theme song. Reminds me of movie I’m Gonna Get Ya Sucka. “Every hero. Needs a theme song” 😁
Arcane was actually in development for about 6-8 years

this old champ spotlights have so more infos in as the new ones. the new ones are only. "here look cool OP spells but we dont realy show weaknesses so have fun."
I think Lux got exited in the first one, because Malphite looks like her friend Galio

- Roles, some champions can occupy multiple roles - the terms below are common over many games:
"Mage" (magic damage dealers)
"Assassin" (physical or magic damage dealers, very mobile - high burst of damage)
"Fighter/Bruiser" (sustained damage - usually a front line champion)
"Tank" (absorb a significant amount of enemy damage, engage enemy team - front line champion)
"Support" (champ that helps other champs, healing, shielding, keeping enemies away, stuns...etc)
"Marksman/ADC" (i.e. Jinx - Physical damage dealer, delivers high amount of sustained damage. "Attack Damage Carry" - i.e. if they're 'fed' enough enemies (and earn a lot of gold) buy items in game to increase damage 'carrying' the game for the team)
This is VERY GENERALLY how the game works. It does have a bit of a steep learning curve. But very addictive once you know how it works haha
Sounds like it would be super addictive and time consuming for sure to learn all that and get good at it. But bet it is also very rewarding 😀
Wish riot made more music videos like "Get Jinxed" for new champions. They have made plenty of good trailers for stuff but nothing hits me the same way like "Get Jinxed" it give you so much incite into the character well just being a damn good song you can listen to even if you dont play the game
😎🤟
I'm super excited for your reaction to the horror cyphers/rap battles/Team ups
Crazy how the time flies remember playing it 10 years ago at 2011 when i started, you can clearly see these guys have perfect marketing, they put money into a story based cinematics or just music cinematics thst have kinda very far from the game though of course it acts as an ad for the game aswell.
The get jinxed video was actually a first music cinematic focused video from league, though actually their first music song if i don't mention the game soundtrack was actually from VI.
I miss the good old times where the game was so slow, hour long matches very fun times.
Hour long matches 😯 How long do they take now?
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames The game is becoming faster, since almost most of these new champions added to game everyone of them has leap dash or somekind of other way of mobility, items become progressively better and same with runes, all this stacks to bigger damage and quicker game, which makes killing enemies and pushing to the enemy base faster, the average game is now around 25 minutes, of course you rarely you still meet those 45 minute matches though teams need to be very well balanced to get this kind of result.
Jinx is basically harley quin of league !!!
😎🤟🥳

It’s nice they didn’t handcuff themselves to stay 100% accurate to the game with Arcane 🙂
the game can be very chaotic, there are 10 players in a game 5v5, as well as neutral(computer controlled) enemies, i have been playing for almost 2 years and i still sometimes get lost with everything happening on-screen
Okay so the chaos wasn’t just us 😅
Love you really got me!!
My girl Ahri is back!!!
The lack of ahri in these cinematic is criminal
I personally think that Jinx takes killing and damaging others as a way to deal with her own pain
We buy that 😢
Vi and Jinx's story I think, is inspired with Joker and Batman's relationship
Interesting. We wouldn’t have thought so until playing Arkham City recently and the ending of that with the care Batman showed Joker 🤔
I think jinx dont get joy hurting people but get joy from the fight
😎👍🙂
It was our first look at the gameplay vids and we probably won’t check out more unless we start playing but we wanted to see it first 🤗
Considering the Get Jinxed video is around 9 years old, its pretty impressive how much of Jinx's style holds true in Arcane.
We’ve been told they are separate universes so that Arcane is not cannon to the game, but they still are linked a lot stylistically like you said. 😊
The arcane version of them are sisters but in game they are not. There is a song for vi called Get Dunked and then just champion spotlight. And it's okay if you don't get what he is saying in the champion spotlight for jinx. But just imagine if Harley Quinn and the joker had a daughter.
Jinx is sooo their daughter. Good call 😁
The Lore in League on Jinx was pretty vague, it was just clear that Jinx was heavily focused on Vi all the time and Vi also was very focused on getting Jinx but it was never really established why it was that way.
Vague lore made it easy for them to play with in Arcane 😀
😎👍🙂
Yeh, go go for the call! xd
We will 😎🤟
Hey guys! These are some interactions between the characters (in the game) that make sense now that arcane is out, because before some didn't have it

Thanks for sharing the link 😀
Definitely you have to see the trailer of the thematic odyssey "Welcome aboard" along with the videos of "Star guardian", I love to see your reactions :D greetings from Argentina
🇦🇷 🤗🥳☺️
It’s nice that they had a framework but weren’t tied down by too much previous lore that they could have freedom with the story 😊
"Gameplay looks kinda crazy."
Those who have played "uuuhhh...yeah."
😂
😎👍🙂
So, Jinx and Vi being sisters wasn't official before Arcane, it had been heavily theorized though
Some people even shiped them before and well it aged badlly
😎👍🙂
There are other hints about in-game characters:
Mel's family may be running afoul of Swain, a Noxian general.
We may have glimpsed Warwick and had his backstory fleshed out more than we want. (likely coming in Season 2)
Riot's done SUCH a good job building onto their long-standing lore without doing too much "nuke and pave" on the previous storylines.
Glad they decided to invest in the lore and tell stories and backstories because they are quite good at it 😀
