Yeah there’s no way that won’t snap right in the middle where that crack is. It could be an alright display knife I suppose. He did put a lot of manual effort into it.
The gears are made of case hardened steel (a tempered steel to which has been increased superficially the quantity of carbon to make possible an induction hardening): not the best solution for a blade, which will be for sure tenacious but not with high hardness. Said so it looks really nice
I saw that too. It looks like it is going all the way thru the blade. Guaranteed the first time he tries chopping with that blade or putting it under any kind of real stress then it's gonna snap right at that spot
Well sir, I see that you have made a mighty fine looking blade there but I can't help but wonder just how strong the blade is? I saw that when you were forging the blade and sanding it down that you had one big ole cold shut on the right side of the blade. I think if I were you then I'd be very careful using that blade. I suspect it will snap at that cold shut but it is a great looking blade just the same.
Forging is not cutting out a blade and tang from a slab of iron filled with cold shunts. Contestants have been disqualified on Forged in Fire for that because it's not forging. I would not trust this blade to *not* to snap in half with use. I hope it's not been made for actual use because an epoxy handle with no pins, steel with cold shunts and cracks, and was that cooking oil? (cooking oil to finish off wood will go rancid. I can't think of any oil that looks like that that you would use except mineral oil to finish a wood handle) It all does not make for a practical knife.
Perhaps this is incorrect, but if you are making a knife to hack at things, I was under the impression that you needed to pin the handle or it will likely break.
It will eventually loosen up without a pins to keep it tight. Maybe he didn't do that because he made the tang so thin? Eithe way a good couple of jolts down the tang and than handle come right off.
Gorgeous crack right in the middle of the blade ...
I was thinking the same thing 😅😅
Yeah there’s no way that won’t snap right in the middle where that crack is. It could be an alright display knife I suppose. He did put a lot of manual effort into it.
I would tested the crack be hitting the knife against something hard like a tree to see how sturdy it it was
Stop blaming about the crack u ain't blade Smith as do I
Two, actually….
wow

There’s a great big crack through the steel where the bend is on the blade. That’s never right!!!
Yep, that fault will get worse.
could see the crack from the very beginning! why continue?
I saw that too. It looks like it is going all the way thru the blade. Guaranteed the first time he tries chopping with that blade or putting it under any kind of real stress then it's gonna snap right at that spot
És um grande profissional..parabéns.
Great Work, great effort, great knife, great art
Beautiful, lad. A pleasure to watch you work your art….

I've never built a blade but that was my assessment as well.
ok
and l'm not sure about that burnt tip i saw, but agree , looks great
He almost broke the blade clean off when he removed materials with his pliers, so yeah, that blade is shite, whether he mended it or not.
The result is beautiful and flawless
Muy buen trabajo te felicito desde España

Simplesmente linda a faça, parabéns
Looks great at the end though I do wonder about all of the cold shuts from the drill bit.
Wow! You made an amazing knife. It's absolutely beautiful. You have great skills. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from California
i was worried first with the big crack but the final result is just beautiful
What did he finsl temper it with? Pig shit was an old medium.
Near as I can tell the crack on the left face is still there. That's why we only see the right side in all the finishing shots.

Ela trincou.
Has anyone here noticed the enormous size of the fissure in the middle of the blade?
yes
Oh yeah, it’s cause he didn’t grind the teeth of the gear. Also that tang has massive stress risers in it so it’ll break off super easy.
I seriously doubt this knife is still in one piece
Yes
I loved it. Great skill.👍
Excilent work 🙋♂️👍
Well there is a crack in it but hey blacksmithing is a learning experience, in terms of looks and what it originally was you did a good job.

I' like that kind of Jungle Knife. Very sharf and nice?

looks nice on one side but that crack on the other would make i break first time you used it

So you're saying this blade _will not kill_ ?
Go cry somewhere else.
I get what you mean but blacksmithing is a learning curve give the guy some credit will ya?
Beautiful Kukri... very well done!
NICE💗🥀
There is lot of delaminations on the Blade and many stress point. Probably after hiting 10/20 on hard area the blade will face crep failure 😌
There was a crack in the midle of the forged piece.
Did you weld it before de heating treatment?
No mechanical connection in the handle? Just epoxy? A few good solid jolts down the tang will loosen that handle in time.
Gorgeous. Well done!!!!
Magnifique 👏👏👏
Very good man can you make tranch knaef 🐺👋🏽🇮🇶
Really Beautiful 😊😊
looks amazing
Maybe I missed something, but did he not heat treat this blade?

Nice bro
The crack on the other side is still visible, couldn't you trim it more?
Exactly. It'll do for the video. Not for work. Dangerous.
Beautiful👍
woow awesome ;) great job
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
