She was "playing crazy" until it was obvious it wasnt going to help.
In the long run with her, nothing matters. She knows shes screwed
Initially she thought bagging up all the body parts would let her "get away" with the act.
She took all the internal body parts out to lighten up what was left of the body.
All of them. Im sure she has cooked her brain with meth, a lot of people have.
That doesnt make you innocent. Im surprised she isnt shackled hands and feet both in court. She admired Dahmer, and wants to be famous.

My sister was on meth for a while. Something happened one night to her. She started hearing voices and thought she was being watched and followed. She would do things like take the batteries out of the smoke detectors because she thought people were listening to her through them. This was 5 years ago. She’s been clean now for about 4 years and is functioning in society now but still sometimes hears voices. And has like this static electricity feeling. She says she can make sparks with her hands and she can see it at night. Something happened to her that’s irreversible. But I’m proud of her for beating the addiction.

Although she started to use when she was in her late teens, she lived to be almost 50 years old. But from what I learned she was never the same. I loved her, and all intervention we did failed. This man who raised Taylor from the time she was eleven is currently locked up for sexual assault of a minor. The odds that he was abusive towards his daughter are enormous. She was committed to a mental institution twice, at around 13 and 15, and began using meth about this time. Taylor's serious mental defects have been notable for a long time.

To Dr. G. She did not laugh because she was amused with anything. She thought it was hilarious when her friend on the stand used the phrase, " We were just chopping it up." That means just hanging out, but she was bursting out in laughter because she was on trial for chopping up her boyfriend and the dude on the stand used that phrase. She cracked up when he said chopping it up. I think most of her facial expressions are in relation to what is being said by prosecution about her. She is thinking he is ridiculous in what he is saying about her. It is like hey dude, you don't know anything about me. She is scoffing at prosecutions statements about her. That's all. Most of her expressions are not all that deep as Dr. G is making them out to be.

I feel that part is missed. The feeling in a court room is very intimidating and she has had time to do nothing but think about everything shes ever done. Its intense to be in that defendant seat. The prosecutor usually truly exaggerates and dramatizes events to get their point across and to make it stick. Id love an analysis on a prosecutor doing an opening and closing statement once.

He steers clear of jargon. He is very clear about what facial feature to look at, and what movements to observe. And he will show the relevant minutes of video several times, so that we are able to properly see to what he is referring.
This makes it far easier to follow what he thinking about and explaining.
He always gets right to the subject. There's no 10 minute preamble of hokey jokiness, or blow hard-ary.
It is also nice that he clearly distinguishes between faked, performative craziness and true strangeness.
Additionally he is very pleasantly free from making too much of things such as...whether someone looks to the left or right when they are trying to remember something. There are some people who make SO much out of little things, or if a person scratches their nose. .

Yup, Dr G is totally right about the insanity defense and the whacking her attorney. It relates precisely to what had just happened in the court hearing.
Taylor S. had wanted to go with an insanity defense. The court appointed psych evaluator had done their report and concluded "she's sane". TS wasn't happy. She wanted to have a second one done, hoping, we'd assume, that she'd learned enough from the first one to be able to make the second one go her way.
The judge is making the decision about whether she'll get this second evaluation.
So TS wants to do what she can to influence the judge to say "yes".
She attacks her attorney. Rolls around with the deputies.
Then...she sits up and says, "what happened? I don't remember anything!"
    Total performance.
And all her gurning and face pulling during the trial..exactly like Leticia Stauch. Even if it doesn't work during THIS trial, both have their hopes set on future appeals. Thinking that people might look at the trial footage and see them looking nutty.

While I agree much of her behavior is manipulative and/or related to substances; the fact she was diagnosed with bipolar, psychosis and other mental health issues at 14, long before her meth addiction; AND she’d had bizarre behaviors in schools since elementary school…there’s more going on here. Her non-compliance with psych meds AND her manipulations make it difficult to try and tie a single dx down. After hearing her father this morning, knowing why HE was just sentenced to 12yrs on Ch Mo charges…wondering if that could be at least contributing to her psychology-whether she was one of his victims, or just knew of his…predilections.

To be diagnosed with bipolar you have to exhibit the symptoms WITHOUT the presence of drugs or alcohol as the psychosis can be caused by drugs so when you sober up the voice and hallucinations go away. When she was first diagnosed with bipolar in the psych hospital she still had drugs in her system. At a later date when she was held for a couple weeks her psychosis disappeared because the drugs were out of her system.

Psychosis does not always mean 'out of control' especially if we're talking about paranoid psychosis. My father has schizoaffective bipolar and my grandmother has been schizophrenic for years (since the birth of her children- as hormones OFTEN trigger mental health conditions or exacerbate exsisting conditions.)
In my own post partum psychosis, i had horrible derealization. The main components of manic or schizophrenic episodes that i have seen in family my WHOLE LIFE are: hyper-religiosity, hyper-sexuality, and hyper-paranoid delusions. This case seems marked by HYPER SEXUALITY (the act leading to the murder and actions after the murder itself).
Along with some adjustment disorders. She is clearly incapable of managing herself and her own life, even if she is able to mask or 'preform' for a period of time. Both my father and grandmother could go periods of time between psychosis or delusions. And they were both great, kind, amazing people when they were 'sane'!
Maybe a reactive attatchment disorder. To lose so many people close to her.... Its sad.
I do think she is absolutely enjoying the attention, but i dont think she is acting for the sake of seeming crazy or for the sake of garnering sympathy or attention.
Body language analysis is fine, and probably pretty much the same for people without a plethora of mental health issues. But i dont think body language is as acurate with people who have mental disorders like this. The body and mind become so mixed up, they dont aleays follow this neat little playbook for analyzing body language.

One thing I’ve noticed in most of these murder trials is that the defendants always try to show, even if it’s hyperbolic, anger when someone describes the description of the murder, the murderers hate being seen as a murder even though that’s exactly what they did, you can’t make a lighter image of a murder but they always seem to show anger because they rather you not see them as a villain when that’s exactly what their actions have done to them. You were spot on about the theatrics, most of these defendants that try to claim insanity follow the same trope every time, it’s open curtain for them, but the public isn’t buying the performance.

For many years I worked with schizophrenic dually diagnosed who have one foot inside of reality able to speak and ask for help to tend to their needs they get dressed they eat , interacting with people while simultaneously laughing and making facial expressions speaking under their breath. It's amazing to see. A great example is one morning a young man college-educated well- dressed and aware of my presence asking me to help him because the floor was on fire. How does that work he was aware of my presence of reality simultaneously believing the floor was on fire. Taylor's eyebrow raising seems more like a tic than "look at me", imo, and halodol is also prescribed for tics. I also think some, not all, of her odd, inappropriate facial expressions could be from her mental defects/thought patterns. I don't see her being manipulative, I see her more towards being deranged. Not criminally insane, as she knew right from wrong, but def has/had organic or drug induced psychosis.

She was laughing at AJ and him describing them getting together earlier that night to hang out before she and Shad went to his house and the murder happened. She was laughing because he was very slow and was using terms like "we were chopping it up" (hanging out, chatting and talking) and generally stumbling around trying to understand and answer the State's questions. She appeared to be amused by AJ himself. Nothing was being said about the "things that she did" at that particular point in the testimony that she would be laughing about.

The lips show emotion. You hide lips because you don't want to show emotion that will betray you if you are guilty, or because it is a cultural thing. Brits and Asians both do that.

@@mjremy2605 and yet, I've seen Brits do it instead of a smile, or when being polite in an awkward situation, or when showing sympathy - altogether a conscious gesture. I'm not saying, of course, that it's not part of the general body language when hiding emotions, just wondering if it differs, or if it's something that a British body language analyst would perceive differently or as less striking than an American one, for example.

I’m British, I’m not sure what you mean by the lip hiding. Fascinating to hear this though. When I married a German I thought his quirky body language was his own till I came here and everyone else was doing it. Language is also body language too.

At what point was lip hiding mentioned? I must've missed that bit. I'm British and wondering if I do it and if it's what I'm thinking it is.
ETA, just rewound and saw it. Yes it is something I have done and I've seen others do it but have never analysed when or why it was done. Interesting that it seems to be a common thing in British and Asian cultures, maybe we're too polite and trying to keep things bottled up

She showed amusement when her friend used the phrase “chopping things up” to mean interacting with each other. I think I saw a flash of awareness in his face for a split second as well. I think his phrase, which might be his personal vernacular, did amuse her under the circumstances. She does flash her brows, probably because she is not allowed to speak, and she is communicating some awareness, I think. During her intent forward stare, I think she was looking at the judge. I completely agree that she is performing. During the reading of the verdict, I think she looked as if she was in pain, as in physical pain, and that likely was not performance. I appreciate your analysis of all of this. Personally, I think she is a psychopath.

I think the reason she was amused by the officers asking about being “armed” when she sat in the stairwell was her using as a pun and saying no one was “armed.” Same for AJ saying “chopping it up.” She finds it a hilarious pun.

That witness who was talking about how they were "chopping it up, like we always do", and even mentioning it twice...jeez, I'm almost fine with her getting the giggles over than one. The witness was a good friend of his actually chopped up friend. He can't be all there.

Dr. G. Excellent work, as usual......I watch every single video you publish on RUclips. It's interesting to me that you blame a lot of her behavior on her use of substances....but could it not be psychosis? To me, it appears that she is responding to internal stimuli. It's fascinating how she seems to communicate with her eyes and forehead only, and not her mouth. She seems highly disconnected with reality, by use of her hand gestures. These could also be "gang signs" as her husband Warren and her father, Arturo Coronado have spent time in jail. Highly Antisocial, highly Narcissistic. So glad you picked Taylor to analyze. Thank you! :)

That's a good question. The quality of her behavior, to me, looks different that much of the psychosis I have worked with. If she is psychotic, it seems likely it would be secondary to substance use.

Damn doc, you made me feel a bit guilty right from the start. I happened to take my daily dose of Adderall before watching, and as you probably know, AMPH & METH have structural and pharmacokinetic similarities. Oh yes, the joys of neurodivergence, got to get my dopamine from somewhere.
Well now that my moods up, time to dissect this broken toy. I'm looking forward to hearing your perspective, as always. Your breakdowns are always smooth, accurate and concise as I see it. It's a lovely contrast from Spidey and the behavior panel. You three of the tops in my book. Cheers from Toronto. 🧠

No need to feel guilty. Methamphetamines have neurotoxic effects which make them different to other substances that may have similarities.

Mr. Phd., You are completely missing why she was laughing. You said she is laughing because she is amused by the things she did. But that's not it at all. It went right over your head. She was laughing because of the choice of words her friend used. He said they were all hanging out, "chopping it up", which is slang for hanging out and chatting. Given the circumstances, his choice of words was pretty ironic. That is why she was laughing. It made me laugh too.
