A death-row inmate who spoke to Ted fairly regularly asked him privately, why he did what he did and Ted said "because I liked it". That's probably about as honest an answer as we'll ever get on the matter from him.

Sometimes while in prison ,inmates will say things that they may feel that they want others to hear. Especially if it makes them sound like a ruthless killer who will kill and resort to violence at any time. Somewhat a defense mechanism. So other guys in prison won't mess with him.

One of the scariest video clips on Bundy that I've seen (which I since haven't been able to find) is when the jurys' verdict came in guilty. His charisma immediately disappeared and he turned around, faced the jury and raged with a facial expression like a caged wild animal. His narcissism was so profound the thought of a guilty verdict never occurred to him.

He was so confident in his abilities to be a lawyer he was convinced that he would not be found guilty, so it was a big surprise to him when he was found guilty, and then given the death penalty. In a way, he didn't mind the death penalty because it gave him more attention.

      From Bill Frakes the photographer:
“This is the photograph I get asked about the most. Ted Bundy, the day he was sentenced to death. I was in the courtroom, focused solely on Bundy. This was 1979 and I was an intern at Miami Herald-cameras in the courtroom were a “new” thing in Florida. The rule was the camera had to be as quiet as a Leica. But I needed longer glass than the 135 we had for the Leica. So I wrapped an SLR in foam, gaffer taped it in place and used a 300 f4.5 lens. I was shooting at 1/30 of second and pushing TriX film to 3200. It was a huge gamble. I shot very few frames that day, afraid I’d make too much noise and Judge Cowart would throw me out-it was pretty tense in the room. Earlier in the day I’d made an image of Bundy praying that was the front page lead. The great Gene Miller, two time Pulitzer Prize winning writer was covering the story for the Herald. I got back to the paper, souped the film, incredibly nervous about what I was going to find. I edited the film, printed this frame, gave the film to the pool who were anxiously waiting to see what I had (only one photographer allowed in the courtroom so the images were shared) . I took the print out to Miller’s desk where he was pounding furiously on his typewriter-handed it to him and said you should see this. He looked at me, yanked the paper from his typewriter and started over. The question I get asked is what was Bundy thinking? I have no idea. But it was the only split second of emotion I saw in more than a hundred hours of watching.”

She came across as if her family was perfect and Christian and therefore Ted was innocent and it was the state that got it wrong. Very aggressively abusive, so no wonder his mother was so detached and out of touch with reality. Did she have to work hard to suppress that knowledge? Narcissists usually have some kind of trauma in their past they're coping with, which is proably why they have to build themselves up by deluding themselves with a made-up identity who's perfect, and tearing other people down to get their narcissistic-supply. Newsflash: every human being is narcissistic and manipulative, because in order to live together we all have to sort of cruise along in society and find our place in it. That means dealing with and manipulating people everyday. Even a fake smile is a form of manipulation and even when we actually pretend we are interested in something someone is saying out of courtesy is also a form of manipulation. There is always a power dynamic involved between two individuals and how they relate to eachother. There is always a game going on.
The difference between Ted Bundy and your ex is that your ex doesnt like killing people. Tee did cross that boundry.
Usually when relationships dont work - its always because one person overstepps the boundries the other person has either once or too many times depending on the tolerance level of the other person. In the worse case scenario- both sides decide to overstep eachother's boundries or what is called pushing eachother's "buttons"
Without narcissism and self love- we would actually not be able to function and probably wouldnt care if we lived or died.

It is also proven that many men have become addicted to that rubbish - so PLEASE don't play it down this way! It may not have been the one reason, but it has definitely played a role! Many men are so damaged by pornography that they cannot function anymore in a normal relationship! Evidence against him was extremely weak, and he had strong alibis. They had multiple suspects that they let go solely on flawed polygraphs without blood pressure cuffs. Most of the suspects were part of organized crime/drug trade. Bundy was framed for most if not all the killings, that's why he shows no remorse, he didn't do it. But Bundy was involved with organized crime and politics (spying for the Republican party) as well. He was the fall guy.

@DanaW124 - Your thoughts on your concern for your fascination with serial killers are interesting, and it would be very interesting to see why all of us who look into abnormal, even monstrous behavior, do that - and share our feelings about what we learn. I NEVER went near this topic, until watching this very video - and I'm 76! Just seemed unhealthy, I think. Worse than watching pornography. Then it occurred to me that psychopaths are a very real, and certainly not rare, phenomenon, and I have lived a pretty sheltered life - despite lots of study of psychology (drawn to people like Jung and P. D. Ouspensky), and my share of hard life experiences. At the same time, there are truly saintly, heroic, and good people who shine as much as people like Bundy stink. E.g., have spent a couple months this year rereading Teresa de Jesús, *Moradas*, & *Libro de La Vida*. Psychopaths seem to be people with zero self-knowledge who enjoy and get sexual arousal playing in pain, death, feces and filth. Their mentality is infantile. As clever as they might be, they have no self-knowledge, but are terribly deformed minds. Teresa and her like are lights for the soul. They radiate love and wisdom, and are far more complex and rare - and their psychology is REALLY interesting. They have something vitally important to teach regarding our own possible evolution, whereas the Bundys of the world are trapped in the same pattern, controlled by forces they know not. imo!

I have learned that if I feel confused after talking to somebody there have been some amount of manipulation or de-direction my attention.

The frequent eye-closing I think is to control his anger
He’s trying to maintain that serial killer personality hidden inside and not let it out so he’s closing his eyes, like trying to control his anger and remain calm so that he doesn’t expose his “angry” personality
As for the smiling at the camera, I think it’s to mask up his “angry” serial killer personality, it’s a facade to trick people into thinking that he’s a calm personality and that he’s not an angry one and he could never have done what they are accusing him of.
Basically, it’s to deceive the audience.
@ 8:41 he exposed his motives behind this interview and what he was doing during that interview. he literally exposed his intentions to clear his image and to tear down the serial killer persona that the media exposed.
That was his whole purpose of the interview, and that was exactly what he was doing the entire time, the laughing, the nodding, the eye-closing to show reassurance that “I’m telling the truth, I’m being honest,” lowering the head, tilting it, showing “fake” humility (hypocrisy) all to seem more sincere to the audience and the interviewer.
He knows he was being recorded, and he’s putting on a show.
The head tilting is also to hide emotions and to hide how fake he is.
Also lowering the head and tilting it is a sign of shame when getting caught doing something wrong.
When someone lowers his head below yours is because he got caught by you, and it’s like he’s in an “asking for forgiveness” position, like when a kid gets caught.
An honest confident person would have his back laid back on the chair and show more confident body language if he isn’t guilty or done anything wrong.
Him leaning forward and lowering himself to a level lower than the interviewer is a good sight of him being guilty and got caught, and now he’s trying to convince them, by shrinking his body and making it look smaller than theirs because he’s caught.

It's difficult for me to see why some people bought into his manipulation. Perhaps some of it is hindsight, that's natural enough, but i grew up in a very manipulative family so it's far easier to see all the signs. However, it's also in some ways harder to notice toxicity for what it is when the behavior seems so normal in the growing years. Years go by though and suddenly it's realized like a ton of bricks that none of any toxic behavior is acceptable which makes it easier to spot. Not a guarantee but the awareness is strong at least.

Ted Bundy enjoyed what he did intensely, he left dead bodies for days or more, cut their heads off and buried them down the road, went back and had sex with them days later in all kinds of ways, way more than came out in court when he claimed innocence. He lived it.

The whole concept of Ted Bundy blaming his murderous evolution on pornography, is so evil in itself. Men find reasons to blame women for everything that is wrong with them - their mothers didn't love them enough, the wife left them, etc. etc. "Pictures of naked women turned me into a monster - if they hadn't posed for those pictures I wouldn't be like this." They just can't ever own their own shortcomings.

    • @samuellackey1555
      @samuellackey1555 Год назад +3

If it’s just evolutionary then no one is to blame for it, but that’s obviously not true serial killers are evil by choice, and while porn isn’t the reason why he killed, that doesn’t take away from the fact that porn is harmful, how is it blaming women by saying porn is bad, it’s blaming a disgusting industry.

@@samuellackey1555You misunderstand the point. Men in general, especially disturbed men and men in conservative societies, learn to blame women in different ways very early. In a more equal society where women have more equal human rights, it doesn't become as prominent. For a male serial killer, equality is not exactly a favorite subject of his, and he's therefore a great example of this attitude among many men. This is not an opinion, there's research and general figures showing the correlation. So try to keep that in mind when discussing views on men and women and gender roles with people. Top it up a notch and stop taking things personal. I'm white and I'm not going to get offended for the fact that black people have been awfully treated by whites. It's a historical fact, not a personal opinion.

In high school Pete Rose and Tom Seaver came to our campus to film TV show, I got to interview Seaver for the newspaper. At a break in filming Rose and Seaver stood back to back as I interviewed Seaver, and my classmate interviewed Rose. This was weeks after long-time Red manager Sparky Anderson had been fired, and me, being a young idiot opened up my questions, with, "how do you feel about your manager getting fired?" Seaver stiffened and bristled, Rose, who had heard my idiotic question, roared with laughter and turned to me gave me a shoulder massage and said, "relax kid, it'll be all right." I love that man. Yes he deserves to be in the HOF, based on his peerless play on the field.

It gives the impression he's annoyed and communicates a sense of superiority over the interviewer. Likes he's rolling his eyes at her. In the first video, he's subtly rocking his body and fidgets a lot too. I don't know if that's self-soothing behavior but it makes me anxious just watching. I wanted to yell at him, "Sit still!!!" I had an ex who resembled Ted to an eerie degree, in the way Ted masked himself to others as to come off as very polite, helpful, charismatic, somewhat of "a know it all" and enjoyed pushing boundaries, breaking rules, etc. He was an ex police officer with a BA in psychology. It literally gives me chills to this day and I think it's why I binge so many of TB videos bc the personalities are so similar. People who can charm like this are seriously demented and dangerous. They are masters at studying people. My ex was hands down a legit malignant narcissist with some sort of personality disorder as he showed signs of delusions and hallucinations.
