    Well, The videos have certainly helped you demo combines. You know what you like, and what you need. It's good to see that you are colorblind. I've always liked simplicity. When you're in the field, you make money. When you're not in the field, you spend money. Good dealer support can just make the decision for you.

    Just got back from from a road trip. Combine shopping myself. North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and then Missouri. Then repeated the trip back over 4 days. Ended up with a JD 9770 out of Illinois. I bought it and paid shipping cheaper than i could get one closer to home. Condition was better and hrs was lower.

    Thank you for sharing your shopping with us. Can't wait to see what combine you and your dad get.. LOL I'm hoping it's red! We do over 10,000 of custom work then probably two thousand acres over our own . We have a 2018 8240 case international. We have a 6 row and eight row and a 12 row corn head. We have a 40 foot flex head for barley wheat and beans. We have tried a lot of machines and the case is the only thing that keeps on pushing through the seasons. But thanks for sharing with us can't wait to see your decision

    Also Brian I've heard hydraulic drive is somewhere around 15%-30% less efficient than belt drive. Not sure how accurate that is. We run 2 case 8240's and have had great luck with them! Very nice combines and we have never really had issues with hydraulic lines. I feel like belts are harder to replace and require more maintenance

    Glad you are keeping your options open and looking at productivity, performance, ease of maintenance and cost of ownership. I did the same thing when I bought my new semi tractor a few years ago. When making large investments in equipment you have to look at all of that , since it's not really a purchase that you can afford to have broke down or be replacing every couple of years. Another thing to pay attention to is parts availability (are they on hand, how quickly you can get them). There's nothing worse than thinking, there's no reason the common parts shouldn't be on hand, only to find out that you have to wait days or weeks to get them.

    Good Luck, I’ve had both Gleaner’s and Deere. Gleaner’s were always easier to work on and usually cheaper to run, the Deere always seemed to be way ahead capacity wise and much better in tough conditions. Never ran a CaseIh rotary, but many people swear by them. I’d love to see Dad get a new Gleaner, he really seemed to enjoy running it. Neighbors just traded 2 Deere’s (9500 & 9610 with 8 row corn head on a low hour S680 with tracks and a 12 row Capella folding corn head. Two grain carts and 3 semi’s can’t keep up in 220-260 bu corn with it. Merry Christmas to the Brown Families!

    • @kreigmoore9126
      @kreigmoore9126 3 года назад +1

      That could easily be the haul or lines we kept up with a 680 and 780 with one cart and 3 trucks in 200 b/a corn we ran our asses off but dumping in our leg hauling 3 miles its can be done most times there was a load ready when you get back to the field and you are humping all day but its been done for sure our problem was filling the leg and over flow bin then we would have to haul to the elevator for a bit or go take a afternoon nap and let things catch up

    • @kensmous8308
      @kensmous8308 3 года назад

      @@kreigmoore9126 - they have two older 500 bu grain carts and about a 10 mile trip to there storage farm and seem to be limited on wet storage as well. We’ve kept our semi driver do the same when we’re close to home, 2 8820 Deere’s with 8 row corn heads and no cart driver that day and as soon as he could get back to the field, 2nd semi was full and both combines full and waiting to dump. Shelled a bunch of corn that weekend.
