Just tried this last week for a friend's get together. I stuck to the recipe and it turned out fantastic. One change is to put the brine in a ziplock bag so you only need half the bottle of wine and save half for the cook.
I really enjoyed this video and was surprised at how well this pineapple turned out. In most cases i'm not a pineapple fan unless it's in a fruit salad. But this idea holds merit and I believe it's well worth trying. Markus has shown us just how easy it is to create this smoked pineapple in just 6 hours. I have to admit I would really have liked to try a slice, because it looked so good. Great video Markus, you have surprised me again.
Looks delicious. However, I did not know that they had pineapple in Germany. Don't they all come from Hawaii? If so, wouldn't they cost about 30 euros each? haha! Well, you're a miracle worker my friend!
I think you are severely underestimating the extent of global food transportation and how cheap it is. For the record, pineapple eaten in Europe comes from all over the world, such as Costa Rica, Brazil, Philippines, and I can get two pineapples in my Dutch supermarket for €2.50 or about $2.80. ;)

Have you tried adding the shallow slices before you put it in the smoker? I'm curious how it would change the flavor.

Pineapples are grown world wide in the tropics
Is this worth doing?
Absolutely

I usually do low and slow at 110 °C/225°F
Did anyone catch the bug swiming at 1:36 bottom right
Pretty sure those are just bits of the eyes of the pineapple.
