You can delay Omega Weapon turns by throwing it potions. Make sure you have a character with enough speed to be able to throw a potion to Omega Weapon before it get its turn, you can repeat it over and over again while the other character simply attack. In my case Shephie had Spd 87 (Triple junctioned), Auto-Haste and Initiative. You need to have atleast more than 61 speed since Omega Weapon has that speed. Note: Works in ANY version of the game.
With 11.2% HP or less and using Aura your character will reach Crisis Level 4 100% of the time. Quistis' Blue Magic powers up depending on what her Crisis Level is.
All her skills which inflict normal damage and their Power values:

Note: If the opponent's Spirit is at 0, and Shockwave Pulsar is at its maximum magic power, it can potentially inflict up to 34.000 damage.
Gatling Gun is physical, everything else is magical
Acid may also inflict status effects depending on the Crisis Level:

CL2: Poison, Darkness
CL3: Poison, Darkness, Silence, Vit0
CL4: Poison, Darkness, Silence, Vit0, Petrify

For this battle i farmed Magic points with Devour ability (+22 Mag exactly, killing 22 Behemoths). Thanks to this and to Mag +60% and Mag +40%, Quistis reached 255 Mag.
Kamikaze: The amount of damage done is equal to the character's max HP multiplied by 5, although the attack can be a critical hit. Quistis's max HP was 9541.
9541 x 5 = 47,705 (The hard damage cap is set to 60,000).
In FFVIII there are 5 abilities that can break the 9,999 damage limit:
- Cactuar's 1,000 Needles can deal 10,000 damage at level 100.
- Boko's ChocoBocle can deal up to 16,000 at level 100. (OG version only)
- Quistis Shockwave Pulsar can deal 34,000 damage with 255 Mag.
- Kamikaze can deal 60,000 damage if character has max HP (9999) and if the attack is a critical.
- Eden's Eternal Breath can deal 60,000 damage at level 100 with 250% boost.

I have finished the game more than 10 times since 2000 and i just know today the potion can give delay effect on Omega...

yup just this, kamikaze, and eternal breath :) with high enough magic quistis can highkey solo like any boss in the game with shockwave pulsar
There is also level 100 Cactuar, who does exactly 1 damage over the cap.
@abhisahni7880 can u give me idea what my junctions should look like if I want to get that massive damage to bosses? Just started disc 3 and already got Quistis Shockwave Pulsar but it's only giving me 2-4k damage depending on the enemy. I got it up to 9999 fighting Marboro
@@j.lee_kDamage of shockwave pulsar depends on 3 factors: the enemy spirit stat, which can be brought to 0 with the spell meltdown or with the blue magic acid, but only at an high crisis for acid, if it worked the enemy will turn purple, second your magic stat, which can be rised both with abilities like mag +40% and by junctioning powerful spells like ultima or triple, and finally your crisis level. If quistis has less than 11 % and aura the crisis level should always be at maximum. You can get aura from mighty guard if your crisis level is 3 or 4. If she has some negative status like blind or the other people in her party are dead she can have a bit more health than 11 % and still always get maximum crisis level. If she has more she can still get max crisis level if you are lucky (real world luck, the in game luck doesn't help with that).
Other limit breaks work the same but use strength instead of magic for damage. The most damaging limit break is shot, used by Irvine, with quick bullets, but you quickly run out of those, with other bullets it is still good but not crazy. Second most damaging is zell's duel, but you've got to be quick with the duel. Just alternate between O+X and left right, or up down and left right, let alone the more complex commands, not worth it once your strength is high. With Rinoa you can get a few turns of invincibility with combine, probably the best limit break. Alternatively angel wing if you remove all the offensive spells except meteor does extreme amounts of damage. Squall's limit is awesome if you get his final weapon, otherwise is nice but subpar. Basically squall without lion heart is like Irvine if you wlrun out of quick shot or Zell if you are a bit slow at imputing commands. Quistis is mostly good for mighty guard and white wind, her offensive limit breaks are quite weak. Selphie is very unpredictable and hard to use.

So Kamikaze is far and away the strongest attack, potentially doing 99990 crit damage? Would high luck junction help this?
Along with Eden "Eternal Breath", yes, those are the strongest attacks. The hard damage cap is set to 60,000 and yes, high luck would help because it is considered a physical attack.
Fun math: how many potions do you need to give omega to completely cancel out 1 Shockwave pulsar?

What's the most damage Quisty can do with Shockwave Pulsar? I've heard you can reach the hard cap of 60000 but I've never seen it happen
The max damage she can deal with Shockwave Pulsar is around 34k, you cant deal more than that with that ability. Eden final attack and kamikaze (with a crit) are the only ones that can reach the hard cap of 60k.

For some reason if you give Omega Weapon a potion you can delay its turn.

@@KFCPhantasm I believe it has something to do with FF8's unique mechanic in that whenever you confirm an action on an enemy it affects their ATB slightly, giving the player's team better action priority. I think this was intended to prevent the player from wasting spells/items trying to heal a party member before they get KO'd. It's fantastic and I wish the other games had it, because 9 has nothing of the sort and I can't tell you how many times someone would get attacked and KO'd before my potion or cure went through on them.

Strange, I never knew this. It sounds like something completely unknown, or a possible oversight done by the developers. (Tossing potions that break turn order.)

What the point of giving potion to Omega Weapon?
Well considering Omega Weapon didn't take a single turn, I would heavily assume that giving the potion to Omega Weapon either skips his turn completely or sets it back enough so another potion can be thrown to set back again.

Huh neat, never knew about the delay thing. I know everything in the game scales UP with the player, but does Omega have a minimum level it spawns at ?
Either way I'd still rather just use Zell because he's just so stupidly broken.
In the play station version it's always level 99, on the pc version no minimum level, so it can be beaten with one lucky limit break if your party is low level but has maxed stats.

I’ve never played this Final Fantasy and am confused AF at this potion/Skill move thing. What exactly is going on. So confused
He mentions it in the description. For some reason throwing potions at Omega Weapon in particular delays it's turn. The Aura stone used on a character with under 11 percent HP left is guaranteed to bring them to Crisis level 4, which I guess fills their limit gauge, allowing Quis to spam that devastating move while Weapon is effectively stunlocked by potions.

You have to refine 100 curse spikes I think into 1 Dark matter and use it to teach Quistis shockwave pulsar. I might be wrong though, its been awhile.

It's Quistis most damaging limit break, you need an item that is quite rare to learn it, and it's at an high level of crisis, and Omega got debuffed with acid that gives the status Vit 0 (meaning vitality and spirit are set to 0). Still, eden at max level and max boost does more damage, but it's slower both in game and out of game, with his animation.
