    Brilliant review guys, thanks for giving a really good breakdown, the forgiveness ratings are so helpful and great to see differences between each model.

    One of the best video's............nicely done. Time for an upgrade for me. I've been playing G10 for years. When I was working, played a couple times per week at a private club & had a 8 to 10 handicap. Now retired, playing four times per week and pushing the handicap down to 5 to 6 range. Usually a nice soft draw, don't try to move it (left to right) for a given shot. My old Pro put me on G10's for the forgiveness. So have bee looking at G430 for forgiveness as well. But with your video and recommended handicap ranges............looking at i525 as well. Surprised at the greater length with theG430 over i525. FINALLY to my question. (sorry) How much of the length gain is due to the difference in club degrees between the G & i??? Looking at the G430 vs. G10.............it's like hitting my G10 6 iron vs. the G430 7 iron. Of course I will get my distance with a G430 7 vs. G10 7. Thanks for your time.

      Loft plays a big role for sure. There could well be a i525 replacement announced this week (i530) which has the same 7-iron loft as the G430, could well be worth comparing these two head-to-head.
      Thanks for the feedback, appreciate you taking the time.

    Urgent question . About to purchase . 11Handicap, 7iron 80mph , 5200 spin , 160carry. In South Africa need to order . Looking at i230 vs Zx5. What would be preference and why ? Maybe thanks 🙏

      @todaysgolfer  4 месяца назад +1

      Both are really solid choices, the ZX5 are quality.
      If we were looking at Ping ourselves we'd probably be considering the Blueprint S as well, it's a beauty.

    Excellent review! Thank you for producing this! Question: I’m a 13 handicap but I want to improve that. I have a slow swing, let the club do the work type swing. Would the G430 or the i525 better suit my style of play. I want a more “professional” iron for my league play. It seems the G430 is more forgiving and carries the ball further but the i525 is more precise in terms of knowing what the club can do? Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Michael appreciate your feedback. Sounds like it would be a good idea to try both models side by side, so you can gauge differences in ball flight but also head profile.
      The i525 has just been replaced by the i530, but if you're intent on lowering your handicap these could be a good choice for you.
      Hope that helps.

    Greater bounce makes the g430 more of a winter iron in my mind living in Spain. Someone buying these will need 5 wedges by the looks of things 😮

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Год назад +1

      It's only 1deg more bounce, but agreed the stronger lofts are pretty aggressive from Ping.

    • @EHMSL1226
      @EHMSL1226 Год назад +1

      @@todaysgolfer The lofts are not even aggressive by industry standards. Most of the irons within the same category from other major brands are 1 or even 2 degrees stronger lofted. You can order them with retro spec loft as well if thats what you would prefer.

    I have a question. I am a mid handicap. I dont know the exact number because I play for fun, not prizes. But on 9 holes I shoot between about 5 and 9 over most times, as low as +2, as high as +14 on my best and worst. I only played about 5 rounds last year and still kept it to +18 on a fairly difficult 18 holes. (Hard and Fast greens with desert sand beyond the 2nd cut) I have played ping eye 2's for about 20 years. Its my first set I've had and I love them. I occasionally stuff it very close from about 150 to 170 yds, and my short game makes most of my friends look terrible by comparison.
    My wife bought me g425's for Christmas. They are long for sure. But they seem like they are all over the place. I miss left, and right, and I occasionally slice which I almost never do with eye 2's. I think the I230 might be the club for me because I want more precision and consistency. What do you think; stick with the g425's or get the i230's? I may be over thinking it. If you actually read and respond, Thank you very much.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Год назад

      The G425's shouldn't be less accurate than your Eye 2's. Were you fitted for the G425's? It sounds like a decent fit could be beneficial, to get the right set-up for you.

    Do retro spec irons have more bounce?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Год назад +1

      Really good question KL. You have to remember all clubs have a tolerance. So no matter what their stated loft, lie, bounce etc actual specs are typically +/- 1deg from them.
      Ping might/could well sort over and under bounce spec heads and retain them for Power and Retro spec orders. We'd suspect though that Retro spec models are likely to have a fraction more bounce thanks to their loft adjustment.

  • @legend9018
    @legend9018 Год назад +1

    Great video. Best aspect is amount of bounce in pings longer irons. Makes them easy to hit however can be a bit of a detriment when trying to flight down the 9 iron or wedge. I did have to adjust the loft on my i525s to get the gapping right.
    I think that’s why the standard loft of the Pitching wedge is 41 degrees on the g430s.

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  Год назад

      Thanks LE GEND, bounce is a feature lots of golfers won't even notice, unless they're playing on super closely mown, firm, links turf.
      Completely understand why Ping think it's a simple win for lots of golfers.

    Wouldn't a better test be to compare clubs with the same (similar) loft rather then a stamped iron number which at the end of the day doesn't mean anything? i525 and 430i 8 irons essentially and 7 iron for Blueprint, i59, i230. Ideally using the same shaft in all clubs too would be nice too, but I realize that due to head weight and shaft length that would provide different swing weights and club head speed.

    • @paulmcgee1867

    So many different lofts... But the only thing that matters in my opinion is to calibrate each club. Once you know your distance with each iron, you're able to chose the right one in your bad. All the rest is marketing.
    No place for comments on a score card !
