    The lack of battle awareness is a big part , one team seems to know what’s happening and one team completely in the clouds.

    I don’t know anyone that wanted a “skilled based” MM, most people wanted a tank type MM, breaking the 4 types down even further, so you wouldn’t end up with a Grille on your team v a Jageroo on the opposing team as only TDs or the reds get 4 autoloaders and your team only gets 2

      Tank based and Relatively closest Battles\winrate Bois , for example 60% and 58% and 55% and 56% and 52% and 50% and 49% with 3hvys , 2tds , 2 meds on both teams

      @@sumukhvmrsat6347 this! I was hoping the system would be able to match players at their skill levels (WR's). Don't care about the tank composition myself, just that the players are balanced.

    I think Fatness was the only unicom who adapted well, at least psychologically; he just shifted his focus to damage quantity.

      No. Fatness quit playing on his own account and used the press account to play. He said he didn’t want to lose win rate on his main account.

    Just glad they're rolling it back...for now.
    Getting a 4-6k damage game and then getting on a rigged losing streak was demotivating.
    The old MM was okay, it just needed to factor in the team composition balances, same number of HTs, same number of TDs, MTs and LTs. Or at least don't stack super heavies on one team vs no armor heavies on the other, the hitpoint pool difference + unpennable armor (for us Mt and Lt players) make it hard to clutch games.

    SBMM will always drag people’s’ high WR down. It can’t do otherwise.
    Unicums complain about potatoes ruining their battles, but they need to farm potatoes to be unicum.

    When my PC was down me and my friend logged into our old accounts so we could play online together and i will say while i am a Warthunder player first and foremost Blitz still is a fun game to go back to.

    A huge percentage of my games lately have been steamrolls. I'm either winning 7-0, 6-1 or losing by the same rate. It sucks.

    The problem of the MM has always been that you get worse and worse teams the more you win. But at least you had the chance of winning some games until you got punished. Just because you were good. But what they did now is that they punish you right from the start for being better than most other players.

      @@Catch202 The guys who have spent the last year bitching about the matchmaker giving them bad teammates aren't going to go straight back to that as soon as the MM reverts.
      What people really want is is a seal clubbing matchmaker where the other team is full of bad players and their team is full of meat shields.

      The latest was a guy just complaining the game is rigged. Hahahaha The problem with idiots is they don’t see themselves as idiots so of course they were robbed, it was the MM, it’s rigged, they must be cheating, my team sucked, in fact anything but the fact that they need to improve.

    The only change to MM we should see is that if you are lower tier then next battle you should be guarenteed high tier next battle.

We haven't seen the back of sbmm, I think it will come back with looser rules, but who knows the old mm is what it is, they just need to tweak it a little but keep player WR out of it

    Is the conplaint about skill based matchmaking really the most common complaint these days ? Maybe four or five years ago perhaps.
    In recent times the complaint has centered on lineup balance. For example I played a game where our team had two very middle of the road teir 6 tanks .. Rudolph and a Frosty ... their side had a Chi Ri, T71 and Amx Xmas .... if no support is coming we have to run away and surrender control of half the map.
    On maps like Castilla such an imbalance results in your hts getting wrecked on the hill.
    This is the imbalance in the matchmaker that needs to be addressed. Snugs on Blitz posted his thoughts on how MM should be adjusted ranking tanks at each teir, Droodles has made his thoughts clear, how would you address it ?
    Your thoughts on farming are true, but who's fault is that ? There have been so many attempts from YT community to collaborate with WG to help improve the new players game knowledge with tutorials and in game tips, and how to play tank reviews and they reject it every time. Why ... because it's in their best interest to have new players get smashed ... because their first thought is not how to get better ... its how do I get a tank to make me a better player. They buy their first premium and WG just rubs their hands together cos they got exactly what they wanted. Skill based matchmaking would have accelerated this thought process making WG more money.
    Don't for a second think WG implemented skill based MM because that's what we want ... its because that's what they want to make more money. They're a business and that's their job ... its nothing personal... its business.
    The only reason they are rolling it back is the same reason they put it in ... they didn't anticipate the level of kick back from the community ... they saw how this would have impacted their bottom line long term .... and bid a hasty retreat.

    Well, previous mm was SB too, always 2-3 60%+ at enemy team, battles were lost before start, im at 55% and 74k battles

    I do agree. It's been streaky for me lately. I had a 80% day. Then a 40% day. I'm actually moving up slowly. I'm at 46 but 38000 games so I probably play a little better than my % says

    Just want to say I enjoy your more 'mature' approach to this game! Being a player of mature years as well I just enjoy playing and being 'vanilla!
    Whatever happens with the MM will never satisfy everyone. As the saying goes 'You can please some of the people some of the time .......'
    At the end of the day it's just a game and should be enjoyed as such.

    Finally someone gets it! I've sick of all these RUclips accounts whinging about something that good players actually requested. Also, they falsely describe the new matchmaking like it's a handicap system. No. If you're good, then you will face mostly good players. If such players are now facing each other much more often, clearly win rates will drop. Instead of teams previously falling apart, now you got enemy teams running rampant. Mistakes were punished while the enemy offered fewer mistakes to exploit.
    Ratings is different in that any skill and experience level can form teams. With the new matchmaking, first, it affected only accounts of over 5000 battles. Second, it still aimed to match players of similar skill, so that if a fellow 70% player cannot be found for the enemy, two would be 65%, while you would get a 60% player. It would not go get a bunch of 40% players as some accounts, namely the two nauseating American ones, said. His Royal Fatness actually proved this during his T62A stream when most accounts were high 50s and very few below 49%.
    The matchmaking problem was never bad teams, it was a horror run of bad teams. It's due to preferential matchmaking you get for new tanks acquired, which obviously required a polar effect. You cannot create a preferential team without creating a weak enemy team. Birthday tanks are notoriously marked to get bad teams. Of course, it could strike any time, on any tank. WG should ensure this lasts for 3 battles, not 25 as I've often experienced. Then a few days later you get favourable teams for the tank previously brutalised. Clearly this was NOT random as WG says the old matchmaking was.
    If the new matchmaking was to form teams of players with corresponding skill, not teams of similar skill, it would be popular. So if each team would have, as an example, 2x45%, 3x50% and 2x60% players, that is fine. I would actually randomly create one team (within reason) and then pull players close to corresponding skill for the enemy. I could write the algorithm in 5 minutes.

    By no means I am a pro or elite, just your average platinum league player. But my 30 days WR dropped by 5% since the update.
    In my opinion, it's all because of update 5.5 (yes I have been here for 9 years +) allowing players to advance up the tiers too quickly.
    Improvements I think we need are tank class and tier match ie a tier 10 light on each team I. Having a medium or light whilst the other team has none is a massive advantage. if a skilled player can utilise the view range and flexibility.

    I played 4 sessions after last update and had to give up, sweating game after game just to win 52% wasn't fun and I resolved to playing ratings, I'm looking forward to getting RMM back so I can start playing again I never wanted SBMM and feared this would happen if it came I glad it's going so I can play the game I've loved for 9 years

    Nice rant. I am a 50 percenter, so for me, WR doesn't change much, however, with the new MM, what I see is a lot more dumb moves from teammates than before, and that's annoying. It is a race to the bottom. I have seen teammates with 10K battles and 39% percent WR. I see them a lot more than before.

    I completely agree, everyone was asking/crying for it, and then it happened, and the same people are losing thier minds. It has been hell since the update, I started playing just the fun modes because I was literally only winning 40% of my games tops. Only way I didn't in regular battles was to platoon and that was only winning 50-60% of the games.

      the only people crying for sbmm were bad to average players blaming their lack of improvement / stats on mm instead of their own skill issues, anyone good at the game understands that random mm IS fair

    I've been on teams that I'm the only one above 50%. The rest are around 40%. The other team however are all high 50 and 60's. To say it's not fun would be an understatement. Before this update I was putting a concerted effort in turning my win rate blue for the first time, playing tier 9 and 10's mind you. I don't know what hurts more, the surgery I had a couple of weeks ago, or this new match making. By the way I also sent a ticket to War Gaming saying this new MM was subpar. They told me it would they would evaluate the issue. It would appear their timeline was moved up. Oops, sorry Buskha for the wall-o-text.

    I did find it interesting that they admitted there was a second pool where (if you lost too much) you got moved to...then moved back when you won "enough".
    That was my contention all along based on tracking over 500 matches; several CC said "no way" but in fact...it was true.

      Yeah they introduced that about a year ago... in update 9.4... but the idea among the community (from what I saw at the time) was that it would group people more like SBMM, but to a lesser degree. However, all it does is group serial AFKs and VERY bad WR players together... almost like a punishment queue, tbf. But they didn't hide it, it was announced.
      From their website: "Starting with version 9.4 there will be two separate queues for players waiting to join a team. The first one will be for players with an average to high mastery level. Most of the players entering the game will get into this group. The second group will welcome players who show lower battle efficiency over a long period of time or are often idle in battle. This division won't be seen in-game, and there won't be any special notifications."

    Well said! I hadn’t look at it that way. I have a love / hate relationship with my own playing in the game. My skill needs improvement and so I hadn’t noticed much of a difference. Sometimes I was thrown in with the competent players, sometimes with the less so. I had the same # of 0-7; 7-0 as before with a handful of good closer games. No such thing as perfect, but I don’t find you get the big strings of wins, or the big strings of losses as much. That was always the frustrating part for me - being top of the team by far 10 games in a row and all losses. lol

    Opinion from the low 50%er who started losing wr after the last MM changes (not sure how long ago but we're talking years). There are just not enough players of my skill level playing now to have a matched team, even a ratings game where I'm playing with fellow gold/platinum players. Every time I check the teams after a crushing loss there are still unrated, and really low rated team members making up the bulk of the team.
    The same thing happened with this new update in pub games. There just isn't the volume of above average players online to allow it to happen. The only time it seemed to work was the first few hrs of the update dropping, when everyone went online to try it. Ever since it's been a sh*tshow, because all the uni's stopped playing to preserve their stats.
    I totally see it from your and all the other top percentile players. I wager now you are just starting to see what we've been dealing with for the last few years. Add that to so many of these sub 50 players with really low experience playing in all upper tiers, with no regard for camo and spotting mechanics, tank type or any other skill based tactics and it's just a free for all and it's not the game I aspired to want to get purple in back in 2014.

    MM Problems in regular battles:
    Lack of experience/ progression too quick through the tiers.
    Unbalanced tank types.
    Win streak manipulation.
    Upper tier game manipulation.
    Make it harder to progress.
    Let experienced players loose in the lower tiers.
    Getting angry and elated is fun!

    Not me with 30 k battles and som fkn nub in tier 9 with 800 games and completely fkn clueless
    I can handle loosing. I can’t handle clueless nubs who yolo camp and don’t play as part of a team

    Is it all about winrate? What to we want? „We got what we asked for!“
    It was a pleasure do watch this vid.
    At least the move showed up that Blitz is alive, still after all the years. And that there are people across the globe caring about this little fine mobile game.
    I love the game and I want it to be good.

      Incorrect, low winrate players gets slaughtered here because a 65-70% player will get team with only sub 46% players and lower to even out the teams. So those people die like flies against 7 55% players . This mm is bad for everyone

    That new match maker could have been good if they had acted like everyone was new and slowly built up their winrates. But without clearing the past win rates in profiles.

    After so many years of struggling and winning through battles, where the mistakes WE made got US killed. the match making was just part of the game we lived with..The old adage of 'if it aint broken, don't fix it' comes to mind,,,so many complained daily with it then, even me, often, 3 tds on reds, 2 on yours, but tr 9 against 10, or players with 50k battles aganist players with 1k battles. Everything seemed aimed at having a great WR. I couldn't give a rats arse about it, its a game, knowledge in all areas can help you play, but it won't always make you win, as its TEAM based. Equal teams, equal battle. some you win some you lose. We all make mistakes, miss the TD coming up your rear because you never watched the mini map enough, or the 100% hit shot was screwed over by RNG, 'that one bounced' ' that one didn't penentrate', you lose. Back to garage, press 'battle' in another tank and try again. If everyone gave WR a miss for a year, the 'fun' - 'game' aspect would return.

    So my win rate is pretty average but for the first 6k games I scarcely watched a vid and it was bad, my win rate over the past 1-2k games is much higher thanks to watching Bushka et al. The new match maker has actually done me a favour as I’m better than my overall win rate and games are much closer. Not sure why people are whining about having tougher games where they aren’t steam rollering noobs, are their egos that fragile!?!

    It is a 7vs7 match making. With new MM one need to do more have major impact on win/lose. Maybe WG can introduce 4vs4 so unicorns can impact the result easier.

    I am a 50% player and I don’t consider myself all that good, either, but I fully agree that the new MM is awful. In my case, the players I get on both my and red teams are even worse than before. Lights go heavy side, heavies snipe from spawn, or even most of the team just stays in spawn. Sweeps are there just as much as before.
    I don’t like it one bit.

    Skill based matchmaking still makes sense, but their execution was terrible. Instead of balancing every match around 50% WR, create lobbies that are balanced so that all players are within 5% WR of each other. Kinda like ratings, I guess. Of course anything other than random completely eliminates the point of tracking winrate. But if your goal is to actually have fun, skill based lobbies are the way to go. With such small teams, one or two noobs on your team can turn a competitive match into a steamroll. And with so many noobs out there, you end up with 80% of games resulting in a steamroll one way or another. Steamrolls are no fun for anyone

    I like the idea of skillbased mm but the execution wasn't good. Wargaming stated that they took in account more variables then winrate but it didn't feel that way. The old matchmaker made only bad players complain because they simply don't know better, with the new matchmaker even the good players (with good reason) start to complain. A mirrored tanktypes matchmaking would be a lot better attempt to balance game more..

    I still find it stupid that hitting the hatch does damage. Like yes, it can go through, but it does 0 structural damage to the tank why does it count? How does hitting a hatch 4 times in a row = tank go boom?

    I totally agree! I used to have ca 60 pct 30-days wr. Now I have to rly sweat and carry hard to even go 50 pct. Stats are dropping and its not the same fun anymore. Random MM is the only fair MM, its equal for all. I never asked for skill based MM either

    It wasn’t skill based MM. it was world of tanks babysitting. I’ve never seen so many sub 300!!!! Games played people since I started playing. In high tiers too.
    30% of games I’d have at least 3 people get 0 damage. They have no clue where tanks collide on each map, they’d just yolo into the open, or hide in spawn, but not even at a location with shots, which they wouldn’t know because they’ve played a couple of hundred games
    SBMM is a terrible idea anyway that discourages playing well, or playing long term, but it wasn’t that in this game. God knows how many times the enemy would get a 60%+ smasher platoon, and I’d get a Chaffee platoon where they haven’t played 1,000 games combined and are 37-42%.
    It was the most lopsided nonsense ever. First 100 games played, 17% win rate, next day, 100ish games. 33%.
    Even got a 5k hall of fame t49 game and still a loss, because the enemy got a groundtank platoon, and we got a comet platoon or something. And many other games went the same. It also made plenty of games where I’d get 200-500 damage, because say you’re in a medium, each team has 3, so 3 of us go the med route, then the 2 plonkers with me, yolo out, haven’t even learned how to shoot, get lit up and die in seconds, and now they know I’m the only one left, so all 3 just send it at you and you can’t do a lot.
    I was 54.30% wr, went down to 54.20% in less than 30 hours. (Probably playing at 57-60% wr before changes, no re roll, and still grinding stock tanks etc)
    Put me right off the game, even if they fix it, I just don’t trust it anymore, I’ll play some game modes that don’t effect stats, but that’s probably it.
    I think what people would like is EXPERIENCE based MM. I’d rather have a 40%er with 50,000 battles, that at least understands the mechanics of the game, and each map etc, just isn’t that great at the game. Over a 67%er who’s played 1000 battles and doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.
    Saying it’s skill based mm is like me serving a plate of 💩 and saying it’s a steak. And then when you complain, saying “well I gave you what you asked for”. Teams weren’t close. I could call 50% of the losses before game even loaded, just based of the tanks each team got, and the names.
    It should be nearer to random, that way, averaged out, better players will win more, and terrible players won’t. That’s the incentive to either keep your skills up, or get better at the game if you aren’t good. The basis for the concept of games pretty much. Shouldn’t be that difficult

    playing for 9 yrs, I've realized you can't control anything in the game, just your own performance. Try your best each match and have fun. If you play only for stats, it sucks the fun right out and it goes down but when you genuinely have fun, it goes up, at least for me it did. Don't sweat the stats too much.

      thanks to sbmm your stats will decrease exponentially regardless, although u probably don't notice as much at the lower tiers your probably playing

    Thanks for the great commentary. Total random on MM still bothers me. The problem with Rank is not only are the available players are low its also available only at certain times that may not be ideal for anyone.

    The way you describe your disappointment and vanilla enjoyment of the new MM, @Bushka, sounds to me like you're getting a taste of what almost all of us "mediocre" players feel most of the time! One team gets a couple of better than average players and the result is almost predetermined. Sounds a bit like this is only upsetting really good players, who can't just rely on farming noobs anymore because they are going to be challenged. I'm sure there are still opportunities for great players to be great.

    MM is still going to match platoons against each other regardless of win rates. If you really want to put a dent in MM lobby for the removal of platoons. At the very least all the platoon missions. Let’s face it you ain’t gonna carry the 40% window lickers against a 60% red platoon coordinating on discord.
    Personally I’d rather they remove all MM criteria. There is so much more thought and skill involved in carrying (read fun) as the lone lite tank against a team of 6 red TDS or whatever, instead of balanced teams and win rates and on and on.

    The new MM is not skill based it’s average skill base. If it was skill based you would be put with players of the same skill. I am still being put against 70% players. They are just doing the average

    You wrong bushka.We asked for ballanced mm but what we have is for example 7 players one or two over 65wr rest 45 against 6 over 50 one 45….total same avarege wr but totally diff.players better in second team of course so you simply punished to be a good player and why all that?Its easy to explain bec.most of the players are around 50 or lower and you need them PAY for p2w game guys!!!You need them stay in the game!!!You wont get rich from couple of great players over 70wr…Thats the only explanation.(sorry for my english)

    People are talking shit! There is a huge difference with the new MM. Steamrolls one way or the other with few exciting games with a nailbiting end like was more common. To discribe it so people understand this is Match-making Socialism Where everybody has to be equal and miserable. This Will drive everyone towards 50% and Theres No real Benefit to perform Well But You are punished for it. But most important it takes the fun out of the game and Thats What We are all here for.

    I actually like the new MM. ever since WG said they made a separate queue for new players and poor performing players, the MM has been worse than ever. It was always a steamroll one way or the other with no channel of winning most matches.
    Since the new MM I’ve actually been able to gain win rate again. Something that hasn’t been possible since the older new MM.
    This new MM is better. The only ones that seem to be crying are the high win rate players that got there farming off low skilled new players.

    I stopped playing years ago at 58 percent. Skill based is better people moaning they can't ace a tank in 2 mins. They all play on keyboard and mouse and killed everyone. It was so obvious with the snapshots and quick target acquisition I got tired of it.

    Sbmm is a cancer that's had an impact on all of gaming across the board...the ones that are complaining are the ones who have the highest WR because they are forced to be matched against equally or better skilled players...

    I’m going to have to totally disagree with you. IMO the only ones complaining about the new MM are the Unicums. I’m guessing that is because they can no longer seal club in most of their games and now they are “not” having fun. Well, welcome to what the rest of us average players have put up with for nine years. In my observation on NA the amount of steam rolls has been dramatically reduced. Battles are much more even and lasting longer and in many cases have become more challenging. In the short time with this new MM my WR hasn’t moved in either direction. (Of course with 74,000 battles it takes a lot to move WR) Now I’m not saying every match up is great, you still get the occasional 7-0. But nothing like before the change. It was very frequent before. And unenjoyable. I’m am definitely preferring the new MM and the better battles. And am thus sad to see a return to the old MM. I’m fairly certain the majority of players will agree once we go back and the steam rolls happen every third game and matches are so lopsided it’s ridiculous. It’s no fun being on the weak team and now the unicums are finding that out as well and they’re whining up a storm about it. Welcome to real life……

      45% of my games have people doing less than 1k damage at tier 8 or above. Had a game earlier with 3 people under 500.
      Your experience isn't the end all, say all. I'm a 60% player and the vast majority of my teammates are usually troglodytes. The only reason I haven't gone down is due to fun modes not affecting WR. Steamrolls are much more common in my experience. It's usually a game where my team loses 7 to 0, and the next my team wins 7 to 0.

      Also Ratings is not “skill” based. It’s supposed to be but the way points are awarded there are to many players that just abuse the system and do nothing to help the team win.

      ​@randomdaemon9345 what I've also noticed is seeing players with ratings in excess of 5000 and with less than 2k battles and wr in the 40%, and they dont use camouflage .... they can also introduce a restriction of no camouflage on your tank, then no entry to ratings.

    Bushka, so disappointed to hear you crying about the new SBMM. So beneath your standards of striving for excellence. WR has been bogus as far as I am concerned from 2020-2024. How can you consider a victory over newcomers something to be proud over? Especially when your tanks, skills, experience, familiarity, etc. vastly exceeds your opponents! Too many so-called good players, >60%WR, are currently crying about SBMM and are trying to preserve their bogus WRs. If they were as good as they claimed to be, they would STILL be dominant in their games. Apparently, SBMM has exposed them. Time to explore new skills young lad, man up.

    I haven't noticed much difference in the old MM vs. the new MM. The best part of the new MM is that assholes like mr_snuggle whose entire life revolves around their video game win rate, has their 30 day WR drop 8.73%. Proving as I always knew that mr_snuggle is an average player at best whose career WR has only been bolstered by playing in platoons with players that are far more skilled than he and they carry him. Hahaha. I say keep the new MM.

      The issue is ratings was skill based MM for those who wanted to test their skills and pub was where you could let off steam and have fun. But guessing you are a 40%er loving that you can feel like a god doing 2k damage at tier 8 while rocking your 5-700 average damage. Then when a curious player looks at your tank stats the only tank with barely 1k average damage are a few tier 10 tanks which you shouldn't be playing because your skill level topped out at tier 4. Just an observation that I have seen with the new MM that I never saw before.
