I came here for the Bandit 112 and stayed for the jazzy funky playing.

Nice demo...nice playing! Thanks for posting. I have a mid 90's Bandit 112 USA Silver Stripe withe Sheffield speaker. And I have a separate 1 x 12 cab with a Creamback 65W speaker. I must say I prefer the old stock Sheffield over the cab with the Creamback.

Hi! Thanks for watching! Yes! The stock Sheffield speaker also has a very good sound and response... I like both!

I have the same amp: Bandit red stripe usa version. The Celestion speakers are not much or any improvement over the sheffield speakers in my opinon. I own different celestion speakers and I tried them too... but stuck to the sheffield. I used marshall stacks and hiwatt, mesa, fenders, vox, and pretty much the top tube amps out there, The bandit can stand its own ground. Im very impressed with the amp. its now one of my giging amps.. the marshall stacks are staying home. cheers

NICE to hear positive things about the amp, just bought a Bandit Transtube 112 brannew ( says 06/2018 in the back, made last summer?), hope it lasts long, got a 100W speaker from a Tech 21(broken in instead of the intact Blue Marvel...) people hype about Texas Heat, but some say the Blue Marvel aint bad after proper break-in, ill try the Tech 21 speaker first, and if my sound lacks bass Ill think again, cheers to ya all, play those frets down gently so the neighbours can age gently ...btw refretting a guitar nowadays is TERRIBLY PRICY! omg, my Pacificas cost 300€s and refretting one about 400€s! ( time to either buy a new one or scallop the board,,, anywhoo the spring its on its way, get your ukes out! (me im tryin to convert my neck single coils into noiseless jazzy pickups with two pedals: SD Pickup Booster & EHX Hum Debugger, good luck with that, if i succeed ill be a happy camper!!!) like your style, very cool! K : )

Just got a secondhand 2003 Bandit 112 (Red-Stripe) for £50, with manual and original foot switch. Very impressed with the tone and the volume this thing has.

Peavey are way underated, marshall is meh. Most guitar speakers are a waste of money as far as being an upgrade, to actually upgrade a guitar speaker you have to actually step up to JBL, Fane, Altec, Electro-voice and I wanna say Weber, cant ever remember the name. Maybe even stuff like Rockford Fosgate, High end competition kickers, any competition car woofers I suspect would sound better than celestion, eminence and the common typical brands of guitar speakers that i believe are just different flavors of sound coloring , where them brands i mentioned are built to take abuse and NOT color the sound, they give you what the amp is giving you, thats why i think high end car woofers would work great too

I cut the center section (about 10 inches) of my Bandit out ,mounted the top 5 inches with the bottom 5 and made it in to a Bandit amp HEAD, so I can plug in any cabinet I want. I use Eminence patriot texas heat or Jenson mod , these work well for me at a good price. the Sheffield went in to an Isolation cab with a shure 57 mic.

I got the red stripe for $80 and it looks like crap but sounds fine. Decided to mod it. Screwed a small piece of wood behind where the speaker is and mounted an output jack and sent the two feeds from the amp over to it. Then I wired another jack from the speaker to the wood so I can use a small cable to use it as a combo at home or bring it to my band space and use it with my 412.
10/10 amp, i love this thing. Put a tube screamer TS9 or TS808 in the mix and an attenuator and your metal tone will be as tube as you can get without buying a tube head.

Nice demo! After several years of looking for an inexpensive Bandit, I finally found a red stripe, Sheffield equipped one for $78 at a pawn shop!
It’s a bit rough cosmetically, but in good working condition.

Just curious as which Speaker you ended up keeping in your red stripe as both sound great but it sounds like the creamback is more 3d sounding where the 1230 is more directional like a closed back almost

Have 2 Red stripe USA bandits and luv em. One in the homestead and one for gigging. 1230 Stock Sheffield all the way here

  • @rodolfov4204
    @rodolfov4204 6 лет назад +4

Saludos!

It’s pretty versatile and can be set to sound similar to both, but when set a certain way they sound a lot like a Marshall Plexi. I have been able to get Fender like scooped mid cleans, as well as Marshall lead tones.
      It’s a very versatile amp.
They are often called “The poor man’s Plexi”, so…

  • @PipeCat1965

The Sheffield has a nice open tone and a better range without that compression/suppression you get from the Creamback. Maybe the 1230 is not quite as tight as the Creamback, but small price to pay for the tonal range it has. Peavey won this one, IMHO.

  • @t-boog2173

It's the Creamback for me. Although it has less sparkle, it also has less trashy highs. It also sounds more solid & punchy in the lows & low mids and just has a fatter tone. In time, it'll break up even sweeter. Then just add a bit more treble, and you can put that Sheffield in the closet. But of course, it's all about the sound that YOU'RE after and both have their good points. Either way, you can't go wrong the Peavey "I don't need no stinkin tubes" Bandit! So Rock On!

How do you feel about the Red Stripe Bandit VS The Transtube Silver Stripe 112 with "Sheffield" written on the bottom? Does the Red Stripe do well at lower bedroom volumes? I just sold a Fender Princeton 112 Plus SS amp. Sounded great, but I could not turn it past 1 without blowing out my eardrums...Thanks!
