Never gets old seeing this - I would’ve loved one back in the day. Still would, tbh.
Darren Persad I have the Rainier 5.3 and it’s pretty quick. 0-60 In 6.5 seconds
This almost seems like a jeep trackhawk, but way ahead of its time
I got a rainier with a 5.3 in it I plan on putting a supercharger on it and making it like one
@@skylerjackson1278 my college friend had a black 5.3 too, uncommon for sure compared to the others on the platform
I worked on this vehicle in 2007 after the owner of the Buick GMC dealer I work for bought it at Barrett Jackson, it barely ran when we got it if you mashed it it would go into reduced engine power, I had to contact magna charger and we sent the ecm in to them twice to get the program dialed in. Once we got that fixed this thing would fly, I enjoyed driving it, it stayed at the dealership for 2 years until they sold the dealership they took the GNX with them. I saw that it reappeared at Barrett Jackson in 2015. GM should have produced that vehicle.
Damn on my trailblazer building experience I'm shocked I've never heard of this until now, SUPER COOL
I hope the Grand National GNX makes a comeback.
I got an 06 silver 5.3 Buick Rainier, I've done a lot to it so far, tbss rearend, tbss wheels, 2/3 belltech lowering struts and springs, poly bushings, built the trans to ptac raptor specs, decatted, only has a cherry bomb single chamber muffler on it and had to paint eyebrows on the headlights to make it more sinister. I'm basically getting it prepped for the day I stick a t-type badge on it and already have an idea for a turbo 8 badge.
Aric Pearson any pics of it
@@duecessbowtie8527 I have some on Facebook
That's really cool. I might stop by and see it in person!
Need the original GNx wheels the BBS black center with polish dish and first and most important 2WD conversion to make it really fun I like doughnuts with my dark black coffee.
Dont forget about the denali envoy it's a 5.3 awd too.
Id love to get a Rainier and swap some interior parts with those from the 9-7x or envoy, because they look better
wonder what the pat number is for that supercharger? being a factory parted think you could get one for cheaper than aftermarket
What about supercharging the inline six cylinder
It's nice and all but the original TBSS concept was a twin turbo 4.2 with 400hp. That is what the TBSS should have been! The 4.2 has been proven to easily handle 600-700hp on a stock engine
What trans is in it
Wow, first time seeing this. They should have put this on the market...at least 5 to 10,000 units.
I have a Saab 9-7x Aero with 400 hp, which is a very fast SUV. I've driven TrackHawk's and other SUV with 550+ hp and they are just not usable, it's really just a one trick pony that sucks gas and is not an everyday driver.
You have the holly grail
Can't you ge montana plates? I have an LLC up there and you can bring cars from Canada or around the world and get plates for it...
Welll, is it the iron or aluminum block? Can you just bolt a supercharger to any old Trailblazer V8 and get something similar?
Eric jurgeson it has the aluminum 5.3. I just bought one the other day and it is a very nice running and driving SUV.
The trailblazer SS has a 6.0 it loves mods but get very expensive really fast
Idk about 600hp with a 5.3 but damn that's neat af.. I didn't even know Rainers came w v8s lol and I own a TBSS and did own a trailblazer LT with a Buick rainer cluster in it lol
How much
My rainier has the 5.3L V8. It’s nice and powerful
Man, I'm not yours...
But when it reaches classic status! 😵😵😵
it was on ebay a few weeks ago for like 21k i think...
That's cheap considering a TBSS still go for around 17k.
Concept cars are known for being unreliable, surely.
Wow
I got the v8. Quick . id like to supercharge it amd make a clone
Is this stock?
No
A giant supercharger isn’t stock
I didn't know that I'm that powerful
I'd change out the vin with a wrecked vehicle
5.3 making 600 whp? Just off a supercharger?
ganja farmer
Probably has forged internals and specially made engine parts to handle the supercharger.
@@destruxandexploze2552 many people take the 4.8/5.3/6.0 past 600 whp without touching the block or heads at all. I have an LM7 5.3 in one of my Camaros that had 236k on it when I pulled it out of an old plow truck. It went straight in after putting the appropriate accessories and a different intake on it. A 350 shot later and it is all sorts of fun. It is well over 600 hp on the dyno and has literally 100 passes on it as of last fall.
Harley Wright I have a feeling GM wouldn’t just take a stock block and just supercharge it.
Well i guess the Saab 97x aero. is what this could have been
Not a street driver ? That suck
Dont forget the Rainier didnt have the 5.3 to begin with. They took the 5.3 from the trailblazer ss / saab 9-7X Aero and dropped it in here, before they supercharged it.
the SS/Aero comes with the 6.0. GM offered the 5.3 as an option on the Rainer. Most of them are i6 though….
@@jiggyg2604 you are right on sir glad there's people that have some knowledge
I feel like this should have been made
Nah swap the vins with a Rainier and debadge the thing, register it all day long. DOT fraud is a no biggie 🤣😂
I mean cool story. But you clearly have no knowledge about the issues surrounding this. The 4l70e was garbage, didn't withstand the stress tests with the supercharged engine. There were numerous issues with this platform. Not to mention the 10bolt in it would grenade on launch. There's a reason they didn't produce them
The 70e didn’t exist in 2004. Would’ve been a 65e
@@pwilly7 even WORSE
The 5.3 sounds so boring.
Those wheels are UGLY it makes the vehicle look stupid
Too bad it is still a horrible looking vehicle.
There’s absolutely no way that an iron block 5.3 truck engine makes 600+HP with just a blower. It either has around 400hp (like the LS2 TBSS) or it has waaaay more than just the blower
