He challenged the old firm stranglehold on Scottish football, with only Alex Ferguson being the only other manager to achieve that along with European success at Aberdeen. RIP Jim McLean.
Taken from The Herald newspaper. McLean said yesterday: ''I very much regret what has happened and I have offered my sincere apologies to John Barnes. I am particularly sorry that it was John of all people who was involved: from what I know of him he is an honest, hard-working lad who was only trying to do his job, as I was trying to do mine. Proper respect, old school fella. Shame there's not more like him nowadays. I just wish it had been lineker doing the interview 😁
I don't get why what he said was disrespectful
@@ceostreams "I'll tell you something, Pal..." !
If only every BBC interview ended this way.
I've come back the last three days to watch this again, I absolutely love it, "and I'll tell ye something" slap!!! Classic.
Rip Jim McLean legend from a Celtic supporter
What the fuck has Septic gotta do with it? I'm a Rangers fan and the only disappointing thing for me is not seeing Barnes hit the deck! Well done Jim McLesn.
Nice little Glasgow kiss 😂
A grumpy genius, but make no mistake.....a Genius. UEFA final and Euro cup semi final, where Dee Yoo were cheated, officially cheated by Roma who bribed the ref. Also Scottish League win to boot. What a team that was. A true legend, and it was sad how he went out. JB was reportedly told more than once not to ask that question. Someone else has already commented on the fact that these journos have over inflated opinions of their own self importance. 100% correct. They bring very very little to the game. RIP Jim McLean, from a Motherwell fan..........even for fans of other teams, you gave us all some great memories.
No one cares about pub football
Cricket man are you Stanley? Rubbing linseed oil into your “bat shaft” Stanley? Sounds like you are.
@@mountain_del1863 no a football man. Thats why i have never heard of this pathetic old man.
@@Stantheman848 who got a pub team to a European cup semi final and a UEFA cup final Stanley? 😂😂😂😂, beating Barcelona home and away on the way Stanley? Getting put out by Roma who were later found guilty of bribing the referee in that game Stanley? I don’t think you are really a football man. I don’t even think you are a man at all Stanley. You up past your bedtime Stanley?
@@Stantheman848 cmon Stanley lad, answer the question. Are you more than 10?? Have you ever played football in a pub??
Had no idea this happened what a cracking video. Shame we don't get a full cut to the wrestling match.
That's what I was hoping we would see. That the camera would get the full on action.
Legend has it that when Jim was in school...the teachers raised their hands to speak with him
Priceless
Hehehehehe!!!
ag ag ag ag
😂😂
I BELIVE IT !!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂PLEASE JIM Can I GO TO THE TOIOLET 😨😄LOL g
Something tells me he wasn’t planning on giving Alex Smith very long…
Hadn't forgiven him for the '87 Cup Final. 😂
What a manager
What a team
R.I.P ❤️
God I love Jim McLean, rest in peace legend 🧡🖤
What, a psycho
Growing up around the Scotts-Irish, this was an expected answer to a foolish question.
This is pure gold 🤣😂😂🤣😂😂🤣
Being a tough bastard made him achieve the great moments he had.
I'm glad that wasn't me on the punched end 😂
I wish this happened to more journalists.
Especially Andy Bradbury..
Good. This should happen to every BBC ‘journalist’.
"And I'll tell you something, don't fecking offer me that again!" SMACK. And make sure you cut that bit out! lol.
RIP Wee Jim.
One of the finest Scottish managers ever.
Legend.
You serious? He would sign 16 year olds on 10 year contracts on £25 a week then fine them for having dirty boots or being 5 mins late to training then never play or sell them and ruin there career.
@@franciscoybighartson8854 source?
@@franciscoybighartson8854 With a comment like that I'll presume your a 9 year old Dundee fan with no knowledge of football whatsoever unless you can prove otherwise of course?
Jim McLean started Utds youth set up and gave numerous young lads a chance for a playing career unlike no other Scottish clubs at the time.
Pish talk! Duncan Ferguson, Richard gough, Andy mclaren, Kevin Gallagher, paddy Connolly to name a few all came through the youth set up at Utd and all had good careers 3 of they 5 will be very rich so your comment is nonsense
@@gregornorrie464 I’m a 35 year old well educated good sellick boy. Jim Maclean will reap what he sowed in the depths of hell, vile man.
" Well I'm asking it " the rudeness triggered him lol
"well I'm only asking it"
To be fair it was a valid question.
@@ijl-cy9pp it was but the tone of his voice set him off.
The rudeness of asking a question as a journalist?
I'm Scottish and you can tell he had a stupid smirk on his face when he asked it, can tell by the tone... Instant skelp
@@csm6324
Yep probably had a daft sarcastic grin on
Love it!! Old school jock gives him the "can your mum sow" vibe.
Absolutely brilliant reaction these journalists think they can walk over anyone hiding behind the badge of self righteousness
"Following the altercation on Saturday, McLean resigned as chairman, managing director and board member of the club who find themselves five points adrift at the bottom of the Scottish Premier League table..."
Numpty. McLean, that is.
20 years later, they revealed a statue of Jim at the Dundee derby game yesterday. Shows how much they remember him for his passion for, and loyalty to, the club.
Jim was a decent person who rightly hated the Newspaper and TV muppet reporters, especially the anti British BBC . The reporter Barnes was chinned by Jim and rightly so. From a St Johnstone fan. RIP Jim
Anti-British BBC? Wow, you went far down the rabbit hole. Twat.
Just before his starring role in "Anger Management" when he doubled for Jack Nicholson :)
"Don't fuckin ever..."
*Interviewer dies*
I'm sure everyone atleast once in their life time has felt the same frustration will someone asking a stupid question and only wished they had the bottle to chin them.
I wouldn't call it bottle. Anyone can deck someone in the face. But most of us respect other people regardless of whether they piss us off a bit or not.
