my theory is he did go SSG. toriyama specifically said he rebelled with 5 other people (like god ritual). My guess he went super Saiyan but was outnumbered and low of energy so his friends gave him theirs and *accidentally* became SSG. but since it ran out eventually that is when he was killed. then his spirit told the namekians of the ritual since he learned it. also could be why SSG wasn't known among saiyans and even though in minus frieza knew it seems he thought it was untrue unlike SSJ. SSG was known by just a few (because it only appeared for a short time) but as the years went by it got lost while SSJ remained a popular legend.

You know what a cool series would be is a Dragonball series where it follows the What If’s in Dragonball and has mini arcs on each story like what if bardock survived Freizas death ball, or what if gohan had actually killed super buu , and what if goku never got his mind erased, or following Akira toriyamas original concept for Dragonball Z

As @David Ortiz mentioned, perhaps he (Yamoshi) will be a god like saiyan who is too strong for Goku and vegeta to handle. That they receive assistance from Broly who also gets tossed around by Yamoshi or fights him to stalemate that Yamoshi uses a technique that subdues broly.

My theory is that he had some form training or he created some form of spirit training like the yardrats.
How could Yamoshi and King Vegeta have lived in the same time if the Legendary Super Saiyan hadn't been seen in 3 millennia (according to Vegeta) Is the King Vegeta we see that fought Frieza and died the 30th of his name? And the King Vegeta you're referring to is his ancestor and they just keep naming the sons of this bloodline Vegeta over and over?

Man I love the whole mysticism of early Dragon Ball. Like what you just said and the Nameless Namek who first came to earth. I loved how it was all shrouded in mystery
I found it rather irritating at how Yamoshi and the ancient Saiyans were never seen or developed ever since it's reveal and this got more frustrating when it was announced a new Dragon Ball movie was made in December 2017 that would focus on the Saiyan past and i was hyped thinking about how we will get a backstory for this character and the lore. But instead we got a film that made Broly canon and the "Saiyan past" was just Planet Vegeta and the story that we have already seen before like the Bardock Special and Minus but uses the Minus continuity instead and granted it wasn't a bad film but i feel like we could have gotten something much better than we got.

There is some details you had missed out on Danny that was stated by Shenron in the original BoG movie.
"Long ago, a small group of saiyans questioned the evil of their race and formed a rebellion, by creating a Super Saiyan God.
The Super Saiyan God had easily overcome his enemies with his immense power, but soon vanished because he could not sustain his power and in time the memory of the Super Saiyan God became lost and merely a myth, but I still know how to create a Super Saiyan God."
I think that the character of Yamoshi had been created by Toriyama with the intention of being introduced as a flashback of what happened in the past, but wound up with most of it cut from the script or production to keep the movie runnning time within a set time limit.
Remember, Akira Toriyama had intended flr the Broly movie to have a 3 hour script, but Toei had cut alot of stuff out and reduced it to 1 hr 40 mins or something.
I suspect though tgat Yamashi's name was not mentioned in the movies because of the script editing and so, part of the story of Yamoshi was lost because of Toei editing.
My money’s on Yamoshi being the first Super Saiyan and his spirit being the reason the rituals requires 5 righteous Saiyans as a way to honor or avenge his friends with his spirit getting the God Ki and giving it to Goku making him the first Super Saiyan God
i think maybe yamoshi was planning to do the ritual but maybe couldn’t do it for whatever reason maybe a friend was killed etc. Became super saiyan then figured out the legends were no joke. Then searched the universe to find the potential super saiyan god then use a being like beerus’ thoughts to make sure the transformation would happen
He likely found SSJ on accident. Maybe he asked his five allies for energy and the made physical contact to do so. He likely became one on accident. Since then, his soul has wandered the universe trying to find out what crazy power he gained was.

I remember I was getting kinda annoyed back when the dbs broly teaser first dropped because everybody and their mama was convinced that it was Yamoshi and wouldn't shut up about it, its not that I don't like Yamoshi, it's just that they wouldn't stop saying his name💀
Bandai and Toei Animation was telling the story of yamoshi in this specific game story, DB Legends. As Shallot and Giblet fight they tell things like:
• they were partners of yamoshi
• they live in the time of yamoshi
• they fighting the blood of the tainted which are the evil saiyans and that's how they are evil (like the bardock special)
• they were having a rebellion against this evil saiyan (prediction cumber) who made all saiyans evil
• the pure saiyans are the blood of the defeated
• so goku and vegeta were tainted saiyans
That's all I know and predict from some fan mangas that cumber is the cause the rebellion with pure saiyans
Gine's ancestor was one of the good hearted saiyans. She's not a fighter and good hearted. I'd call it canon

Yamoshi is pretty much the Phoenix force, he's not searching the universe he fused with goku the first time he went ssjg, that's my theory
That does beg another question. Is he also bonded with Vegeta? After all he can go SSG as well. Could he even theoretically be bonded with all the Saiyans that contributed to the ritual? Including the half ones and maybe even Pan?

Yamoshi could have been a kami of the saiyans, would make sense how he could traverse the cosmos after being dead, since the kami of earth could freely go to the after life to guide souls
Maybe the blessing and curse mentioned that some God gave Yamoshi was that his race would be blessed with that power, but Yamoshi would not be able to pass on to the afterlife until he completed this goal?
I have a feeling that Yamoshi will have an integral role in the db universe. I think he'll probably find some way to make contact with goku and they'll have a conversation with each other about things. My theory is that Yamoshi will tell Goku about his past, the destruction of planet vegeta and how Beerus played a role in it.
Yamoshi appearing in a video game or a manga special would be pretty interesting.
I really want them to make Dragon Ball spin-offs. Imagine Hit or Pride Troopers episodes. Or imagine History of Sadala: Yamoshi
All I've ever wanted is an arc where Hit and the Saiyans of that universe fight some major threat like their universe's of buu. No Goku and Vegeta, just new characters getting the spotlight.

@@Xeno574 You know its possible to divert attention away from the main characters for an amount of time. All sorts of stories do it. Animes, movies, books, you name it. Goku and Vegeta don't need to be present in everything for a story to function, and one short arc without them wouldn't suddenly take away their title of main characters.
That being said, I'm fully aware they won't ever do it because Goku and Vegeta are the ones on the t-shirts.

Well,even though Super Dragon Ball Heroes isn’t canon,When Goku transformed into a Super Saiyan God,Cumber said “Red hair..” This was persumably be a hint that the evil saiyans Yamoshi rebelled against was maybe Cumber,and Cumber could affect other saiyans and turn them into evil saiyans,thus making an Army of evil saiyans.
In Dragon Ball Legends is implied that Shallot and Giblet are descendant from Yamoshi since they know about SSG. And yeah it's a mobile video game but hey they are filling in sole of those questions

I wonder when Yamoshi died and his spirit traveled the universe so to speak, he gained some ancient wisdom about the gods and god ki. It kind of reminds me of UI when the body moves without the mind getting in the way. Yamoshi's mind could have opened up to possibilities his form bound body could never have. I dont know. Goku could be the reincarnation of Yamoshi or one of his descendants. Did Yamoshi have a family? or not?
I can't wait till one day these shows are rebooted and told with a better story and just as much action one day .

I have an idea so we all know that Yomishi and his friends had righteous hearts and that most Saiyans aren’t like that so he ends up only finding these five other Saiyan differing in ages and Yomoshi being the strongest ends up going super Saiyan for his survival backed into a corner and wanting to protect his comrades and as the fighting continues he ends up being the only one standing so the other Saiyans give him their last bit of energy so they can hopefully win since he was the strongest of the group and goes super Saiyan god but bc he just went super Saiyan that was hard enough to control ends up destroying his body and having his godly spirt roam until he is finally at peace when he sees Goku become a super Saiyan and sees he’s heart was righteous maybe yomoshi saw Goku in his spaceship right before namek now this could be dub mess up but I remember him saying something just happened when right before he landed so that could’ve been yomoshi spirt giving Goku a push to super Saiyan not understanding how to make him transform let me know your thought geekdom and some of this was just thought up while typing so it might not sound exactly right but I’ll clear things up if you ask something especially on things I ain’t thought of

I think it would be a really fulfilling and full circle story if Toriyama uses yamoshi to tie Dragon Ball back into its "Journey to the west" roots
Like have yamoshi be Dragon Ball's version of "Son Wukong" and then have "Son Goku" be his reincarnation this would also be a good way to explain the abnormalities in Goku's abilities
You could even make a story arc where Goku is pushed so far to where yamoshi reawakens within him giving goku all his memories of the previous life and even a cool scene where his tail like mystically regenerates and he gains a like SSJ4 God form and even a power pole he can summon at will
Maybe goku is genetically related to him somehow or maybe his spirit got rencatnted into goku
Perhaps the super Saiyan god thing at first was just like either Yamoshi or one before him was originally being a gog of destruction with different ritual to becoming one but he needed more power so he manages to turn into super Saiyan along with his comrades to gain enough power to complete the ritual and not only be a super Saiyan but also a god of destruction and that's how the whole super Saiyan god thing happened

I think the spirit theory is right. Coz when Goku transforms to SSG, the clouds was exactly looking same as the clouds under the snakeway in the otherworld.
The storyline of Dragon Ball legends may give us this answer probably..

Here is my theory: Yamoshi rebelled against his King Vegeta during a time when there were more Kaioshin in Universe 7, who take a more active role in guiding mortals in general. It was the Kaioshin who gave Yamoshi the knowledge of Super Saiyan God as a way to balance against King Vegeta who, in my personal theory, was either an early Legendary Super Saiyan or maybe just an early regular Super Saiyan who was conquering and destroying worlds in Universe 7. In either case, Yamoshi had lost the fight with King Vegeta and was killed but not before fatally weakening King Vegeta. Yamoshi's spirit living on is more of a metaphor than literal, in that maybe his lineage continued and/or just the memory of his deeds lived on. With King Vegeta not able to secure his influence the Saiyans fragment and collapse but the Saiyans remember his strength and the Super Saiyan transformation. When Battle of Gods was written, more than likely Toriyama or the writers an Toei had not came up with Universe 6 and the other alternate universes but when they were writing Super maybe something like this had come up and would use it as a basis for Universe 6 Saiyans in that the Universe 6 their version of Yamoshi succeded.

My Theory is, Maby Goku is Yamoshi is reincarnated and was going to recount his past experiences but lost them when he hit his head as a kid.

It's all quite simple to me, personally.
The Legendary Super Saiyan dies and wanders in search of 6 righteous Saiyans like him and his 5 comrades. Because of his wandering spirit and the circumstances of his and his comrades' deaths, the Super Saiyan God ritual is a thing. Yamoshi's spirit is the source of this godly power. The soul of the legendary Super Saiyan is the catalyst for a Saiyan to become a SSG, only requiring 6 righteous Saiyans to mirror his own situation.
Yamoshi had helped Goku in his battle against Beerus.When Goku was struggling against Beerus's energy blast in the anime,he said, "the power of Super Saiyan God spoke to me loud and clear,and there's no mistake in it.It's telling me to keep on pushing even higher!"

What if Yamoshi didn't know about the ritual? We've seen tons of times Goku's friends give him energy to beat someone, so what if Yamoshi's rebels passed him some energy and he just happened to transform into a God?
Also, Whis & Beerus could have told Frieza about super sayians and super sayian gods, leading to Frieza being afraid of the Sayians and destroying planet Vegeta, leading to the rise of new super sayians. Whis has been training Goku and Vegeta to become gods their entire lives.
It is mentioned by frieza I think that each planets afterlife is a bit different and even in earths afterlife hell had a way out so maybe yamoshi just dipped and then his soul wondered after he escaped and since ghost are in dbs like the one beerus hakai’d, I don’t doubt that it’s possible for souls to float around too

I always just assumed that the transformation itself was kind of like the essence of Yamoshi. Like the ritual summons the godly power of yamoshi, but then vegeta proved you can tap into on your own...unless yamoshi instilled this power into all Saiyans after the fact? Idk man it’s random Toriyama shit lol

-Berserk-er form of Broly
-Facial features of Vegeta
-Technique and hearth of Goku

This is actually something I can get behind. I would love to see Yamoshi in the next arc. And I would love for him to be an actual deity.
You know what’s crazy is that he covered most of the possibilities I had thought of that’s crazy to me because Geekdom out of every Dragon Ball content creator I watch he’s the only one with the most knowledge of the show and based off his explanations and thoughts it just shows me I have really profound knowledge of Dragon Ball lol
The fact of shenron knows where yamoshi is it probably means that we will see him in dragonball super at some point im the saga
Dragon Ball legends is dealing with this lore- Saiyan Civil war, Super Saiyan God, Two Twin Brothers who are descendant of the (or a) Super Saiyan God. So I suggest you explore the game. Might find some clues there.
Think that Yamoshi's spirit was left wandering the world, because he was killed by "Evil Sayians". When the thing about evil in dragon ball, is that if you harbor enough evil energy then you can turn into a demon like King Piccolo, when it was revealed by Beerus that anyone killed by demons are unable to pass on to the afterlife.
As for the closest thing to a demon sayian, in Dragon Ball Heroes there was a character named Cumber who coincidentally has the title "The Evil Sayian", with an equally malicious aura to him. There was also the whole factor that he seems to recognize the Super Sayian God form, so its very likely that the guys who beat Yamoshi werent so much random sayians who happen to be evil, as much as they were a group who were overflowing with malicious energy like Cumber.
