    Wow! I wish my teacher had taught me this stuff! I learnt more about dimension lines in 5 minutes than I have in hours sitting in class listening to my teacher. Great job!

    Quick tip: if you have to dimension a lot in your day to day work, add DD as a shortcut to the dimension tool of preference .
    The time diffrence seems negligible. But personaly i love this compared to DI when dimensioning details for example.

    linear dim command:
    I get in the project and now I'm finding someone changed the format of that dim
    ISSUE: Linear Feet dim that we have set for the project, now has 0'-0" at the starting point.
    Just on weds day, we did not have this, Now our sheets are all out of wack.
    How do we get rid of the 0'-0" at the start of it.
    Its suppose to be just 3'-6" thats it. No zeros at the start.
    It seems like it became ordinate/linear. Frustrating, because cant fix it.
    Please help.

    To the point plus quick and concise. perfect. One question though... in my electrical plan, the dimension line vanishes or does not stick after clicking outside the object. What am I missing please.

    • @HyperfineArchitecture
      @HyperfineArchitecture  4 года назад

      Two things I can think of, first is that the two items you are dimensioning are not perfectly parallel. The default dimension tool is Aligned and requires objects to be parallel to each other. The second thing is that maybe all the reference planes in the electrical component family are set to Not a Reference, in which case they can't be used for dimensions. You will have to open the family to check.

    Is there a way to change the dimension extension lines from its default solid continuous to hidden lines?

    • @HyperfineArchitecture
      @HyperfineArchitecture  3 года назад

      Hmmmm, thought this would be easy, but I’m not sure it can be done.

    is there a way to show the same dimensions from lower level to the next level (floor) without creating new dimensions for each view? we normally do this for Grid lines showing their intervals.

    • @HyperfineArchitecture
      @HyperfineArchitecture  4 года назад

      No, I don't think so. If you have grids visible on each level you can copy and paste the dimensions from one level to the next. As long as they find the same object in the new view it should work.

    Hi thanks for this.
    At around 3mins 40secs you mention you mention that equalizing the dimensions will space the windows equally but does not ensure an equal size of the spaces between them.
    Is there a way to do this using dimension strings (i.e not having to calculate the sizes and position the windows manually)?
    Any light you can shine on that would be appreciated.

    • @HyperfineArchitecture
      @HyperfineArchitecture  6 лет назад +1

      You're very welcome! So as you see in the video, the space between windows will be equal, if the windows are the same width. But the space to the left and right of the end windows to the wall might not match the space between windows. I don't know how to automatically do that with dimensions, you kind of have to figure it out before. But while you're designing you could dimension to each side of the windows, so your dimension string would show the window widths and the space between, then just move them around to get what you want.

      - Select dimension
      - Edit Type
      - Units Format
      - Units = Decimal Feet
      - Rounding = whatever you want
      - Unit Symol = '
      - Check "Supress trailing 0's"
