U can overwrite “replace with text” by right clicking in the input box, go to Insert Unicode control character and then select US, unit separator. Keep up the great work!

The easier method is right click the input box then select US.

What i would like is a custom dimension that knows if it is drawn to wall face, face of core, wall center-line, etc. Then you could set up an automatic suffix such as "WC" when that custom dimension type is used. You could create a dimension for each one.

The BIM managers out there aint gonna like their users learning the symbol trick. We literally ban this in most offices as it leads to major issues later on when we construct.
I have a dynamo script specifically for hunting down and resetting dimensions containing symbols just to deal with these people haha!

@@leramdoname usually people do this when they're in a rush and want a dimension to read a particular value. The most common reason is we need a clearance to be achieved, but the model isn't achieving it. Rather than fix up the model they just fake the dimension and move on - now it's the builder's problem. Terrible solution!
@@AussieBIMGuru I'm a builder. And do the same trick with REVIT dimensions every day. When you go to DIMENSION TEXT menu, select REPLACE WITH TEXT and with right click in the text box go to INERT UNICODE CONTROL CHARACTER...select US - UNIT SEPARATOR. Done! Now you can write whatever you want, easy peasy.
Why? We do a lot of prefabs and newer sure everything fits...so we do one prefabricated piece adjustable. A little bit longer then in the model to be cut & fit on site. The dimension in that case usually is followed by text "ADDED 2 FT FOR ADJ." and does not require any tricks.
We can also change the dimension value by another option click on replace text option & give the value what ever u want then right click choose LRM option then click on ok, then the dimension text will changes

How to color your Dimensions differently from the line or the opposite
Good to round small fraction, but don't use this trick for entire building project. This causes things don't fit in the model. This is dirt trick use in Revit Bim.

Anyone knows how to dimension a site plan. The lines are not parallels to the house. Align will not work.

i cant make dimensions if the wall isnot intersected with the other with a angle of 90 ... any solutions for that ?
Please do not force dimensions projects. As we share models, other folks are depending on that our models are accurate. I have received RFI saying your dimension is 100mm but when we dimension it comes to 98mm.

CAD was great in its time, but we gotta move on to BIM now bro. Less tedious work and a centralized project file
I have enjoyed watching many of your videos, but as a mater of principle, I am disliking this video. I firmly believe there is no real reason to fake the value of a dimension. I have had to clean up too many of other people's mistakes in AutoCAD, and now in Revit too from where people tried to fake it
Michael Tierney ( usually we need this not to false measure but when you want to mention wall length equal 20 m and you don’t have space at your plan so we cut and do dimensions and adjust it )

Revit doesn't allow you to change dimension values for very good reason. It's a terrible practice. They corrected a problem that was present in autocad. People ought to learn to model accurately or don't model at all.
