Many thanks indeed Michael, much appreciated and great feedback for us. More to come from us when we're out of lockdown (when ever that may be!!). Stay tuned :)
Morning @at4095 and thanks for watching. It would depend on a few factors such as where you moor the boat and generally how much use it has while you own it. Mooring a 9m boat permanently at somewhere like Neyland Marina would be about £300 per month plus a small electric hook up fee. Then fuel is the significant cost as to 'fill up' would be over 1k at todays prices with 600 litres capacity. The range of the tank varies significantly - if pottering around at 10mph all the time you'd get c300 miles from that tank, but if you were at planing speeds she'd be using around 60 litre per hour at 25mph or if at WOT (Wide Open Throttle) that is a thirsty c150 litres per hour at 43mph. Finally servicing - thats X 2 as two engines which could be 1k a year, or more, and each time it is serviced there would be fees to lift the boat out and back in to the water which could be £500 each time that occurs. Those are the major costs plus then the kit and equipment that goes in the boat. That gives you a glimpse :))
Fantastic video Bob and Nicky! Excellent job as always, felt like I was watching my handover! The boat looks fabulous, really homely and cosy. I love your finishing touches. And it’s spotlessly clean! With presentation skills and boat cleaning skills like that, you’ll be after my job! Keep up the excellent videos!
What an excellent, thorough 895 introduction. And very helpful for those of us who are keen to learn about such an impressive boat. I'm happy to have found and subscribed to your channel. Now off to your video collection to see what other gems you are thoughtfully offering.
What a fantastic walkthrough. I'm a fan of Aquaholic and a few other boating channels and have watched far too many walkthroughs but that has to be the most thorough one I've seen...and with a couple of seals thrown in too. Thanks for a great video.
😁😁Keith that’s fantastic to hear and thank you very much for that amazing comment. We love Aquaholic too and that was where our inspiration came from, amongst other channels too!! We love making the films and hopefully will have more walkthroughs, in detail, this Summer - watch this space!!!😁😁👍
Happy New Year Bob and Nicky. Congratulations on your 52k views of this video. I think it must have become the définitive video on the 895! I must have watched it a dozen times now whilst waiting for my delayed delivery of a new 895. I still learn new things each time I view it! There is a chap called Damian in Australia - The Rudder- who has also posted some useful videos and tips for 895 owners. Hope to see some more boat videos from you soon. Though I would presume the South Wales Jeanneau Agents are also experiencing long delays in delivery of new boats if they are to be fitted with webasto heating systems. Roll on the spring time and let me know if you every bring your motor home down to the New Forest. Best regards
That is a really great informative video Bob and Nicky. So many compartments that Amanda and I haven't seen before whilst we've viewed a couple of boats for sale ready for our purchase.
Wow! This is the very best walkthrough-review I have seen on a boat ever! Congratulations and thanks a lot. I adore the storage capacity and the features available for that 30 ft boat that seems even better than the NC 33. I may go for 895 rather than the NC-33 now I have see your video ;) Was absolutely lovely to see the seals
This really is a fantastic video Bob and Nicky. It really tells you all you need to know about the 895. Plus all the little extra bits of information and advice. Given your own experiences of the boat. Still considering fitting a couple of solar panels to top up the battery whilst at anchor or on a buoy. Did you find on your longer overnight stays you needed to run the engines to top up the house batteries? Did you ever think about fitting a Victron 712S battery monitor with an alarm to ensure the batteries never went below 50%?
Many thanks, as always, for the feedback John, much appreciated:) We never noticed any battery issues at all during all our usage, both winter and summer, and therefore didn’t go down the monitor or solar route. I think if we’d had air con say or lots of other power hungry devices it might be a consideration but there are two house batteries already which give a lot of ‘off grid’ power as long as you know what the combined usage of your devices are. If you’ve got an idea of your intended device usage, coupled the capacity of your two house batteries combined, you might find you don’t need those interventions, or you would be able to assess more accurately if you DID need such interventions - like the panels or monitor you mention. I’m just doing similar sums for the motorhome which currently has one house battery with a bay available for a second, if required, which I may utilise to give us more ‘off grid’ time if the sums tell me it would be useful :) Hope that makes sense :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks Bob. Your views always appreciated. I might get the monitor fitted. Just for peace of mind. Only intend having fridge and chart plotter on all the time at anchor plus occasional use of lights, tv and fusion stereo. As you say, good to have two house batteries. Thanks again.
Truly amazing walk through. Wish you did more boats!!! Best of the 100 or so I have watched. Thank you. Now, if I could only afford that boat! What did she run USD?
Many thanks indeed MNP67, very much appreciated 😁. Our article linked below may help answer your question for USD. powerboatchannel.com/review-of-the-merry-fisher-895-offshore.html#article
Still, by far, best show round on a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 Offshore. Helps us to remember what boating is like in decent weather. Whilst the U.K. is battered by storm force winds fir the third day running! Roll on springtime and hope we get a decent, storm free, spring and summer!
Well many thanks to you John from Nicky and I. We very much appreciate your comments and contributions to our channel and we thoroughly agree re the wish for some good boating and motorhoming weather in the near future. We’ve just been away for 6 days in the motorhome through those storms and it was very cosy in the van - I’m just uploading the first film of that trip :) Have you a firm date for delivery? (I couldn’t find reference to it on our other comments 😁) Looking forward to seeing it too!!
@@PowerboatingAdventures Hi you two. Still waiting for delivery of my boat, but believe boats are now leaving the factory again. Probably quite a big backlog to clear. 🤞 it will be soon! Brave to be motorhoming in this weather! Certainly NOT boating weather!
True that John re boating - St Anne’s Head on the end of the Milford Haven estuary was 8-9m waves 😳😳 Fingers crossed you get the call about it’s arrival soon - it’s been a long wait!! Many thanks for the feedback too, you have supported us so well 😁🚌
This is the best video I've seen of the 895, seems to be the perfect size and setup for fun and weekends away. Would you know if the roof bars are sturdy enough to take a 'sit on top' kayak (approximately 30 to 40lb weight) ? 👍
Many thanks Steve and that’s great to know! Couldn’t find much detail before we bought so here we are!! Yes the SUP rack would definitely take that sort of weight. It’s really solid, no flex in it across the width of the supports, screwed into the edges of the saloon framework which therefore disperses the weight down through those vertical sides making it well supported. Most SUP’s are in that weight region too at 30lbs so made for your sit-on. 😁🎉
Brilliant video, thank you for taking the time to make it. We are considering an 895 offshore to replace our current boat. We are wondering if it would be possible to change the forward cabin into a comfortable sofa/V-berth.
Many thanks Mrhelichopper (like that username😁), much appreciated. The forward cabin double bed has that storage area, underneath, at the foot of the bed where we keep some cushions and tools etc (as you saw in the film) and then there is that void underneath the pillow end of the bed for some electrics. Not sure you could split those areas for a V berth as the hull is moulded for those areas. Daniel Yeates at BHG Marine, Lymington, Hants, knows these boats inside out so he would tell you if it’s been done previously as a modification or whether your proposal is achievable from the structural perspective. Do let us know if you go for the 895 - you’ll love it 🎉☀️
Hi Bob & Hi Nicky. Great walkthrough. You inspired us enough to buy our very own 895 offshore. Fantastic boat. We were wondering what - if any- winterisation you do to the outboards? Kind regards Steve & Tina
Hi Steve and Tina , what lovely news that was and such a lovely message. We hope you have an amazinggggg time with the 895. Now in terms of winterisation we did next to nothing, purely because we were on the boat at every opportunity throughout the year. Some of those frosty bright mornings when the waters are flat are so lovely. Heating on inside and a cuppa sat out the back in a winters sun was just fabbbb. The Meaco dehumidifier was running throughout winter when we were away from the boat - which prevented ANY damp - but apart from that nothing else for us!! One thing to consider, for the rear swim platform shower, is to avoid that freezing as the plastic shower head is fragile and prone to damage if it freezes There is a stop cock for the line that leads to the shower head so you can isolate then drain the water out and additionally I wrapped the head in clingfilm to further prevent damage which, as a result, never gave us a problem during the very cold winter months. Propane in winter is better than butane, if it’s cold, so perhaps take propane if your out and about and need the all important cuppa. It just means you’ll have to keep using it throughout winter - oh dear 😁😂🎉🎉
Hi Martin - as promised the data I have so far is we've done 187 nm's at an average fuel use of 2.77ltrs per NM. That covers both slower trips and those at planing speed. In terms of fuel rates at different speeds I am going to do a film of that showing the LPH as we go through the different speeds. I know the performance data for the boat says the following but I want to compare that to the REAL data .... at planing speed it should be 59LPH at 21 knots. As soon as we escape from lockdown I'll be on it!! :)
Hi Mrcss, We haven't had the boat at WOT yet. The spec suggests 37-38 knots at around 6000rpm. We will be doing that test in future episodes - no doubt!! :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks for the reply! one more question though ;) What was your top/cruising speed and fuel economy on the 795 with the 200, we currently have a 2015 695 and are maybe looking to upgrade. we keep her behind our house so an 895 is a little too big for our dock unfortunately haha.
Surely you need to get a bigger dock!!! :))) I didn't keep as much detail on the 795 as I'm now doing on the 895 - i know the 795 was about £3.85 per nautical mile at 4000 rpm and could do around 32-33 knots WOT with the BF200DXRU engine albeit we didn't do much WOT - more trying to find the ultimate/most efficient planing speed. I am keeping more detailed records on the 895 though if you decide to 'Go Large' on the dock :)) FYI The honda 200 was around 284kgs whereas the Yam 200 is nearly 60kgs lighter which would be a consideration if you went for the 795 - 60kgs right at the back is a fair difference! Both great boats of course as is the fabbb 695!!
@@PowerboatingAdventures wow 285kgs!! Didnt expect that! I was looking at the yam 200 anyway! We have a 130AETL and gets the 695 up to about 28knots, but as for cruising speed I feel like she’d be a lot more efficient and more fun with the 150/175🤔 since with more then 3 people on board it really is hard to get her on plane😅
Yes the 200 Honda (or the Yam for the 795 I expect) easily managed to get on the plane with 5 or 6 adults that we sometimes had on board and could hit those 30+ speeds. It would have been good to compare a Yam 200 on the back with the Honda 200 as specific data is pretty difficult to find (we found very little 'real' data when contemplating the upgrade) which is why I've started keeping detailed data on the 895 for those interested/considering the swap. Many thanks for the sub btw :))
Hi Philip, We would recommend fitting the bow thruster. Our 795 with its Honda 200 was a great boat but was most definitely easier to manage at slow speeds around the Marina, fuel berth or even picking up mooring buoys WITH the bow thruster. In breezier conditions, for all those tasks, it was even more useful!! Bite the bullet and say yes to a bow thruster 😁😁. Enjoy your 795🎉
Hi and thanks for these fabulous videos. My 895 arrived today and is now in Swansea marina. I'm just about on top of most things but i wonder if you can advise about shore power. I cant seem to get it to work and I think it is something really simple I am missing. Thanks again for this brilliant sequence of videos.
Hi Simon, have you plugged in both ends with a meter on the line and have the Marina allocated you a plug officially - they might not have switched it on if you haven’t got an account yet - that’s the first suggestion :)
Second suggestion - try another socket that you know works - with a neighbour say to see if your lead works on their boat. Third is - we had a faulty plug on our lead and I had to take it apart and repair it!!
I noticed you had a leather - ette type seating material for you dining and fabric in fill. Was the leather material an option? Is that an X - large helm seat?
The Leatherette Dolce Artesian is an option instead of the standard fabric. We had the fabric on our 795 so decided to have a change! 😁 The helm seat is standard and has that fold down piece that creates the seat bit, and in the up position it allows you to stand and lean on the helm seat. The seat is adjustable forward and back 😁🌊
I’m looking for a boat that could handle going from Florida to Bahamas. It’s 55 miles on the open ocean. Would this handle the open ocean in your opinion?
Thanks Matthew and yes it certainly would be okay for that 55 miles - it’s range at planing speed of 21knots is over 200 miles and that distance could be just over 2 hours at planing speed. It is a Cat B6 boat so that means 6 persons in waves up to 13ft and 40knts wind. The offshore version of the 895 has a strengthened hull to enable the B6 classification. Having said that it wouldn’t be a very pleasant trip if that were the sea state!!! So definitely yes to the trip and, as always, choose the best weather window to make the journey and to make it a comfortable crossing. There are some outstanding weather apps that give accurate forecasts for us in the UK - I suspect you’ll have the same! Do your basic seamanship/VHF courses ASAP which will give you a good insight too. Hope that helps and get down the boat shop 😁😁
Hi Paul, yes it does fit well plus space for the Torqeedo too. It’s the 3D Superlight Twin Roundair 2.5m. We got it when we had the MF 795 to fit on a roof rack but the 895 offers a lot more storage space so you could probably go bigger and still fit it in there. The bag size for the one we have is 70x45x32cms. Their Superlight Twin Air range goes up to 2.9m the carry bag being another 280mm longer so would probably work too. Hope that helps 😁
This was perfect. Thank you! Looking to buy one for next year but none available to look at resellers yet in my country. One question, is it possible to look up and out from the roof hatch when driving? (I’m 182cm tall)
Many thanks for watching Mark. The handling was easier with the 895 as it was more stable and the twin engines made slow speed manoeuvring easier. The walk on to the 895 was all at the same level right through which was an improvement. The outdoor space at the back was bigger and offered better seating set up - especially with the sun pad. I loved the side door access and the wider walkways both sides of the boat. Good height in the heads, plus the shower in there. Both cabins and beds were a good size. The galley set up was easier to work with and the storage better. The extra space and that front sun pad which turned into a bench seat was my favourite place to sit! There were so many improvements, too many to list probably, but that hopefully gives you a flavour. Of course running a second engine meant there was a big difference in running costs!! Both lovely boats though bringing a lot of great days out!!
Good morning Sir, I would like to know how is your heating system and ducts installed inside the boat. I want to install AC and heating in my boat Thamks very much Regards
Morning Oscar and thanks for watching. If you are able to send me an email address I can e mail a copy of the MF 895 Manual which has some diagrams of the AC and heating when installed - not loads of detail but will give you a idea :) . We just have the webasto heater on ours as you may have seen on the walkthrough, but no air conditioner.
Many thanks Tony 😁 yes we do prefer the leatherette - our 795 had the fabric so it provided a change too but having lived with it for 7 months or so now we do think it was worth taking the option. Easy wipe clean and not had any problems with it so far 🤞 👍
Many thanks Andrew and in answer to your questions .... The diesel is filled through that brass unscrew cap on the tank itself. We did that using a plastic 5 litre can. The Webasto uses a VERY small amount of diesel and we only topped up once in the year. The petrol fillers are shown at 27m 46 secs on the film - 2 x 300 litre tanks with a filler on each side of the boat which you'll see briefly in the film. Hope that helps :))
Sorry to bother you again Bob and Nicky but consider you the 895 experts! Could you please tell me how you fitted out the cupboard under the sink/stove so plates and dishes, pots and pans stay secure in a seaway? Did you buy or make any plate, dish stowage device? Maybe you use the same in your motor home? Still no news on my boat!
Morning John, Never any bother at all!! Gosh the wait for your boat is torture!!!! Any updated arrival date? In respect of the cupboard I used one of these www.amazon.co.uk/Plate-holder-cutlery-space-plates/dp/B07PDYV1KH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=14YCA61ADRBP0&keywords=plate+holder+caravan&qid=1647341530&sprefix=plate+holder+caravan%2Caps%2C54&sr=8-5 They worked well. I think if we had kept the boat I was looking at fitting some drawer runners so we could have a pull out type unit as well - I saw a couple of examples of that on one or two of the forums and it would be a bespoke product to fit the space - here's an example albeit I might have used plastic drawers but you can see the principle :) facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10158096574821549&set=gm.654667995176821 But that straightforward foam unit did the trick for us and we had bamboo plates/dishes etc which I think we got from Go Outdoors - an Outwell product that are unbreakable!! Hope that helps John and fingers crossed for dates as the Spring/Summer approaches :))
@@PowerboatingAdventures Many Thanks Bob and Nicky. Your advice and experience is always appreciated. I had seen the foam plate stacker and will get one of these. By the way have you seen the fire sticks ( no mess extinguisher with 10 year life) that you can get at Force Four. Well worth considering for your Motorhome. Frustratingly Jeanneau are unable ( or unwilling) to give Daniel any detailed information on my boats progress or likely delivery date ( already three months late). A boat due last July has only just arrived! So eight months late! However other models arriving only a month late! Not sure why ? Perhaps I should have bought a motor home. Enjoy your travels and adventures. Thanks again for the information. Appreciated.
Lovely, I think this is our next boat. I don't care for the shower arangement, seems like everything just gets wet. But I guess space is limited so.... maybe take showers on the aft deck:-)
True indeed Kirk and many thanks for your feedback :) I guess it’s about what you can compromise on when you have a limited budget!! For the money it ticked a lot of boxes and was a big step up from our 795 but I also agree with your comments about the shower!! Now if we both had a 1 mill budget …… 😁😁🚤🚤
@@PowerboatingAdventures Sounds like you sold her? We just sold a 2021 C-Dory that just did not work for us. We're in the uSA and looking at Sea Sports and some aluminum boats but I really like the this Merry Fisher. I wonder how strong her bottom is? Where we boat in WA and Canada and Alaska we get lots of logs in the water. But she looks like a tough boat especially the Marlin Offshore version. Thank you so much for making this video, I have to show it to my wife later today:-) We also do a lot of traveling in our truck camper and love it. You and your wife seem like really amazing folks. Please enjoy all your adventures and thank you for responding. Kirk
Those Dorys are lovely too. The 895 Offshore is a higher spec than the 895 and has a strengthened hull which give it a higher seaworthiness rating than the 895. Yes we have sold it and just have the motorhome now but the water is always calling us back and we’ve got a walkthrough of a 1095 in July which I’m looking forward to :))
@@PowerboatingAdventures I'll keep my eye out. I hear ya on the "if we were millionaires" comment. We sea trailed an Aspen CAT last year, the C107 and absolutely feel in love. But it's gonna be about 500K US with options or more. Enjoy:-)
Thanks for watching and they don’t seem to have made a load of changes. Some aesthetic stuff, which you’d expect, to fixtures and fittings and a different hull finish apparently. The front sunpad area seems to have had the most change with an easier walk around. I’m looking forward to trying to see one and of course get a walkthrough for the channel 😃
Thanks Isabella and no we really wouldn’t change anything!! Love all the option upgrades and the change to the GPSMap 8410xsv with the GT54 UHD Transducerwhich rounded things off really well with the BlueChart 3G Vision addition to the plotter. Love the leatherette option and no wouldn’t change a thing 😁😁🎉. It’s a great boat and would be a great choice :))
Can you trailer this boat/customize it a bit at the moment of placing an order? ps: How do you take a shower with only 25lts of hot water? No camping I guess
Hi Davide, The boat is around 4.5 to 4.7 tons when fuelled and watered so you’d need a fairly big vehicle to tow it on a trailer!! I have seen one on a trailer triple axle but don’t know what pulled it - with the combined weight of vehicle and boat it would have to have a high plated gross weight :) There are a LOT of options available when you order the 895 which can add a fair bit of cost so it’s all about what your budget is then build it to fit!! I have got a list of options somewhere but it’s also on the Jeanneau website too 😁🛥 PS There is only 25 litres but that is VERY hot so creates a lot more with the mixer - giving plenty for a shower :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures thank you very much, very useful answer. I guess I'll need to continue to scroll the boat market then, this is a fantastic boat, but maybe not as handy as I was thinking as a first boat for trips. For me the trailer is a must, but with that weight + the trailer etc ... Probably it's too much even for an american truck 😅
@@Davide608 yes the weight increases pretty quickly - each of the Yam 200’s was about 220kgs so half a ton before you add the boat 😁 there a boat out there somewhere for you 😁☀️
Lovely videos, watched them all in the last day or two. Couple of questions as a lay person..?? 2 x 300L unleaded fuel tanks. Assume it’s normal unleaded? 600 x £1.20 (assumed cost) = £720 Range of about 200 miles? That about right?
Many thanks Notoriouscab 😁☀️ as always depends on speed but around 215nm at planing speed (21-22knts) or if you fancied a potter along the coast or estuary at 6knts then 383nms or 10knts then 336nms. So a fair range 😁. Servicing and fuel are, I guess, the deciding factors when buying a boat, after the initial outlay. That’s how I looked at it 👍
Many thanks Thomas and yes we are planning more!! Got to get out of lockdown in Wales first so we can get to the boat again - it’s a frustration not being able to even go to the Marina 😕. Better days ahead though 🎉
On your other point Thomas, it is a Category B6 or C8 officially. So two double berths, then that bit where the interior table is which converts to a berth and there would be a usable space out the back under the canopy on the sun mattress area shown in our film - bit like camping under the stars! I slept out the back of our MF795 under the canopy, and it was great, albeit this one has a bigger space under the rear canopy! Hope that helps 😁
Many thanks Stigz :) There are differences between the 895 and the 895 Offshore - The offshore has a strengthened hull which allows it to move from a Category C boat to a Cat B boat and capable off taking on higher seas which of course could give it a better offshore capability and perhaps range of use. The Offshore has twin engines, generally 200's whereas the 895 can have a single 300 or 250hp engine. Fuel tanks are larger on the Offshore at 2 x 300 litres. It is very similar in terms of accommodation layout. :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures Could I ask what the cruising & top speed is with this configuration? And for both what’s the fuel burn rate l/hour? Many thanks once more 👍
@@stigz3570 thanks for your reply 😁 check out Episode 8 which should answer your question 👍 let me know if there are any more questions and of course don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already 😍
Hi again. Can I please ask if you ever considered buying an older but more luxurious boat, instead of buying new? As there are some quite delicious older boats in this price range.
We didn't consider that Andrew - I guess we were attracted by the warranty cover for any problems but no re al reason. I agree though that there are some great boats about for the same money without doubt :)
Hi John, many thanks for your great feedback 👍 They are the SAME company albeit they have their own respective philosophies and design Teams etc. I suspect therefore that there is a common company ‘DNA’ running through both products which makes the ultimate choice ours, as their consumers, in respect of personal preference on layout, functionality and specifications. I bet there isn’t much between them in terms of their abilities on the water though. Not a specific answer but hope that helps. 😁👍
Hi UraFlight, I guess it depends how much space you needed personally to live comfortably and where you’d be able to moor the boat in bad weather etc. Our film shows what space is available but it has all the essentials one would need. I personally wouldn’t live on it as it’s not big enough for the family!! I do fish from the boat which is fun, and fine to do from this boat. Merry Fisher build a ‘Marlin’ version which is specifically geared towards fishing allowing easier movement around the edges of the boat. Hope that helps :)
Many thanks for your comments George K - I saw the other comments you left on our films but they seemed to disappear when i tried to reply hence you haven't seen a reply yet!! At last I can reply to you :) I think that question is more about how comfortable you would be going out in rough seas. The 895 OFFSHORE is a Cat B boat so certified for Force 8 wind and 4 metre waves and the standard 895 is a Cat C boat which is Force 6 wind and up to 2 metre waves. We have been out in 2m waves and it's not the most comfortable ride if the wave frequency is close together. Personally we wouldn't have gone out in 4m waves at all. It is also about your experience in boat handling when the waves are high as small mistakes can prove very costly as there isn't much margin for error!! We had some very strong currents around our coastal waters which, added to the wave height, make for some conditions that always need to be respected and which could be very dangerous. There are current flows around Pembrokeshire that could see you reduced to 10 knots at 4000rpm if you were against current (should be doing 22 knots at that rpm!!) We always went out for pleasure and fun on the water and therefore didn't go out when the forecast was bad as we didn't need to!! Hopefully that helps to answer your question a bit albeit I accept it's not a detailed review of rough weather boating!!! :)
We liked very much the 1095 but it is much more expensive. Thats why we are looking the 895. She seems a descent boat for a week getaways. An issue is the water quantity, is there space for water maker ( since we would like to order it with air con and gen) or an extra water tank? Thanks, George and Lucy Is there a possibility for tv installment in the saloon?
Excellent video, dear Bob and Nicky I need you help me to take a decision. You have your sun deck with a chair and I like it, but the salesman tell me is not useful, because is little sun desk. I would like your opinion. Thank you.
Hi Jorge, Many thanks for your comment :) We loved the front bench seat at the bow. When the front bench seat is down flat it can be used as a sun pad - one long sun pad. The bench seat is a lovely place to sit though when underway (in calm seas!!). It is big enough for up to 3 people and I would say yes to the bench seat every time!!! :)
Hi AJG, Many thanks for that :) The data I have so far from new is we've done 187 nm's at an average fuel use of 2.77ltrs per NM. As soon as we escape from lockdown I'll be on it and get that real time speed/lph footage!! :)
Hi UraFlight, no licence needed to operate on GB coastal waters but we did do some RYA qualifications to learn more about boating such as Powerboat Lev. 2 course, Essential Seamanship and Navigation course and VHF Radio course. You don’t HAVE to do any of these but we’d highly recommend them!! 😁
Amaizing walkthroug. Boat reviwers should learn from you guys on what a boat review should look like. Proud owner of JMF 795 😎
Many thanks indeed V.Z - glad you liked it and our 795 was greatttt fun!!!! :)
This was a better walkthrough than the big channels have put out. Well done old chap
Many thanks :)
Excellent! Probably the best video I have seen on the MF 895. Even though I own this model, I still learned a lot from your video. Thank you.
Many thanks indeed Michael, much appreciated and great feedback for us. More to come from us when we're out of lockdown (when ever that may be!!). Stay tuned :)
Please forgive me this random question but what is average cost per year to keep this beauty?
Many thanks Daniel - you were a good teacher!! Loving the 895 :))
Great video. Current owner of MF 695 Series 2. Bought a 895 off shore which is arriving in 2 weeks. Can’t wait
Many thanks and I bet you’re loving the 895 now!!! 🎉
What an excellent, thorough 895 introduction. And very helpful for those of us who are keen to learn about such an impressive boat. I'm happy to have found and subscribed to your channel. Now off to your video collection to see what other gems you are thoughtfully offering.
Thank you sooo much Jack for those lovely words which are much appreciated 😊
Enjoy the films 🎉
Brilliant walk through and an amazing craft.
Many thanks,

Many thanks Stefan, much appreciated :)
Great video. I am going to charter a 895 in May and to get such a thorough insight into the technical situation is very helpful! 👍🏻🙏
You’ll have fun with it!! Enjoy! 😁☀️☀️
Many thanks indeed John - looking forward to a trip to your part of the world 😁👍
That is a really great informative video Bob and Nicky. So many compartments that Amanda and I haven't seen before whilst we've viewed a couple of boats for sale ready for our purchase.
Many thanks Justin, it is a great boat with plenty of storage!! Let us know what you purchase! 😁
Awww thank you sooo much for that feedback. Very much appreciated. The 895 is lovely and the seals like it too! 😁
What great detailed videos really enjoy watching, very informative and hope to be buying our dream boat!
Many thanks indeed Karen and always chase the dream - it will happen 🎉🚤🚤😁
Thank you for the great tour and video. Interested in both the 895 as well as the 1095 here from the US. Very informative!
Many thanks Fred and both fabulous boats :)

Merci Beaucoup !! Superbe Vidéo....Simple et efficace.... Profitez bien de ce bateau ! Au plaisir de vous croiser dans un port !
Merci beaucoup Gael très apprécié. Cela a été très amusant de faire les films. :) ☀️
Great! Thanks for the very usefull informations!
You’re very welcome and thanks for your comment 😁👍
brilliant walk through. very detailed. as a "non boater" it was very informative. good luck with your new craft.

I’m just doing similar sums for the motorhome which currently has one house battery with a bay available for a second, if required, which I may utilise to give us more ‘off grid’ time if the sums tell me it would be useful :)
Hope that makes sense :)

The best presentation, congrats

Still, by far, best show round on a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 895 Offshore.
Helps us to remember what boating is like in decent weather. Whilst the U.K. is battered by storm force winds fir the third day running! Roll on springtime and hope we get a decent, storm free, spring and summer!
Well many thanks to you John from Nicky and I. We very much appreciate your comments and contributions to our channel and we thoroughly agree re the wish for some good boating and motorhoming weather in the near future. We’ve just been away for 6 days in the motorhome through those storms and it was very cosy in the van - I’m just uploading the first film of that trip :)
Have you a firm date for delivery? (I couldn’t find reference to it on our other comments 😁) Looking forward to seeing it too!!
@@PowerboatingAdventures Hi you two. Still waiting for delivery of my boat, but believe boats are now leaving the factory again. Probably quite a big backlog to clear. 🤞 it will be soon! Brave to be motorhoming in this weather! Certainly NOT boating weather!
True that John re boating - St Anne’s Head on the end of the Milford Haven estuary was 8-9m waves 😳😳
Fingers crossed you get the call about it’s arrival soon - it’s been a long wait!!
Many thanks for the feedback too, you have supported us so well 😁🚌
Great video , thank you . Bob , how is the fridge powered , if by electricity , will the engines recharge battery ?
Many thanks Jonathan and it is a 12v power supply so running off house batteries which will recharge from shore power and engines running :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thank you very much for the info, I hope you and yours have a great new year.👍
You’re very welcome Steve. Have a great New Year too 🎉🎉👍
Brilliant video, thank you for taking the time to make it.
Do let us know if you go for the 895 - you’ll love it 🎉☀️
@@PowerboatingAdventures thank you for taking the time to reply. I will let you know how we progress.
Nice to see a boat tour including some practical boating action. The seals where lovely. What kind of Litres per hour do you get at what speed?
Many thanks Martin - it's lovely out and about in Pembrokeshire. I'll add some lph data tomorrow for you when I'm at my desk :)
Thank you vere much guys
Many thanks for watching and you're very welcome :))
This review is how you review 👏
Many thanks Paul, much appreciated 😁👍
How cute ☺️
They were jxtrakk - we were very lucky, right place, right time!! :)
Hi! What is the top speed the 895 reaches with twin 200s? Best regards, very nice boat!
Would you recommend equipping a bow thruster to the MF 795, or can I save some money there?
Fantasticcccc news that it’s arrived and only a stones throw from us! :) Exciting times ☀️
Second suggestion - try another socket that you know works - with a neighbour say to see if your lead works on their boat.
Third is - we had a faulty plug on our lead and I had to take it apart and repair it!!
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks, I think it just wasn't connected properly. All working now :)
Excellent - enjoyyyyy the boat 🎉🎉
I see you have a 3D dinghy which seems to fit well in the locker. Can you tell me what size and model of dinghy you went for?
Hi Paul, yes it does fit well plus space for the Torqeedo too. It’s the 3D Superlight Twin Roundair 2.5m. We got it when we had the MF 795 to fit on a roof rack but the 895 offers a lot more storage space so you could probably go bigger and still fit it in there. The bag size for the one we have is 70x45x32cms. Their Superlight Twin Air range goes up to 2.9m the carry bag being another 280mm longer so would probably work too. Hope that helps 😁
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks for that- very useful.
😁
This was perfect. Thank you! Looking to buy one for next year but none available to look at resellers yet in my country. One question, is it possible to look up and out from the roof hatch when driving? (I’m 182cm tall)
Many thanks Hejo. The sun roof would be too high for that 😁and good luck with your search for an 895, they’re great fun 🤩
interested too know if there is only 2 of you what difference you found between the 795 and the 895 excluding the size
@@PowerboatingAdventures cheers
Good morning Sir, I would like to know how is your heating system and ducts installed inside the boat. I want to install AC and heating in my boat
Thamks very much

Morning Oscar and thanks for watching. If you are able to send me an email address I can e mail a copy of the MF 895 Manual which has some diagrams of the AC and heating when installed - not loads of detail but will give you a idea :) . We just have the webasto heater on ours as you may have seen on the walkthrough, but no air conditioner.
How do you find the Leatherette material - do you prefer it to the fabric?
Excellent Video's by the way!
Many thanks Tony 😁 yes we do prefer the leatherette - our 795 had the fabric so it provided a change too but having lived with it for 7 months or so now we do think it was worth taking the option. Easy wipe clean and not had any problems with it so far 🤞 👍
@@PowerboatingAdventures thanks for replying to my dad good videos and cute seals
hi guys great video
regarding refilling for the diesel heating and petrol engines how is this accomplished cant see diesel tank refill
all the best
Morning John,
Never any bother at all!!
Gosh the wait for your boat is torture!!!! Any updated arrival date?
In respect of the cupboard I used one of these
www.amazon.co.uk/Plate-holder-cutlery-space-plates/dp/B07PDYV1KH/ref=sr_1_5?crid=14YCA61ADRBP0&keywords=plate+holder+caravan&qid=1647341530&sprefix=plate+holder+caravan%2Caps%2C54&sr=8-5
They worked well.
I think if we had kept the boat I was looking at fitting some drawer runners so we could have a pull out type unit as well - I saw a couple of examples of that on one or two of the forums and it would be a bespoke product to fit the space - here's an example albeit I might have used plastic drawers but you can see the principle :)
facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10158096574821549&set=gm.654667995176821
But that straightforward foam unit did the trick for us and we had bamboo plates/dishes etc which I think we got from Go Outdoors - an Outwell product that are unbreakable!!
@@johnpenson8801 Fingers crossed for some good news soon John :)
Lovely, I think this is our next boat. I don't care for the shower arangement, seems like everything just gets wet. But I guess space is limited so.... maybe take showers on the aft deck:-)
True indeed Kirk and many thanks for your feedback :)
I guess it’s about what you can compromise on when you have a limited budget!!
Thank you so much for making this video, I have to show it to my wife later today:-)
We also do a lot of traveling in our truck camper and love it.

I’m looking forward to trying to see one and of course get a walkthrough for the channel 😃

Love the leatherette option and no wouldn’t change a thing 😁😁🎉. It’s a great boat and would be a great choice :))
Can you trailer this boat/customize it a bit at the moment of placing an order? ps: How do you take a shower with only 25lts of hot water? No camping I guess
Hi Davide,
The boat is around 4.5 to 4.7 tons when fuelled and watered so you’d need a fairly big vehicle to tow it on a trailer!! I have seen one on a trailer triple axle but don’t know what pulled it - with the combined weight of vehicle and boat it would have to have a high plated gross weight :)
There are a LOT of options available when you order the 895 which can add a fair bit of cost so it’s all about what your budget is then build it to fit!! I have got a list of options somewhere but it’s also on the Jeanneau website too 😁🛥
PS There is only 25 litres but that is VERY hot so creates a lot more with the mixer - giving plenty for a shower :)
600 x £1.20 (assumed cost) = £720
Range of about 200 miles?
That about right?
Many thanks Notoriouscab 😁☀️ as always depends on speed but around 215nm at planing speed (21-22knts) or if you fancied a potter along the coast or estuary at 6knts then 383nms or 10knts then 336nms. So a fair range 😁. Servicing and fuel are, I guess, the deciding factors when buying a boat, after the initial outlay. That’s how I looked at it 👍
Thanks fir replying. Not close to getting one at the mo, but who knows!
Please make more videos of you guys and this amazing boat. How about eating area inside and outside , does it fit 4 - 6 adults ?
Great video and really informative! What are the key differences in the offshore variant…or are all 895s offshore? Many thanks
@@PowerboatingAdventures Very helpful. I’m relatively new to boating and think the 895 could be the one for me! Many thanks 🙏

Hi again. Can I please ask if you ever considered buying an older but more luxurious boat, instead of buying new? As there are some quite delicious older boats in this price range.
We didn't consider that Andrew - I guess we were attracted by the warranty cover for any problems but no re al reason. I agree though that there are some great boats about for the same money without doubt :)
awesome video! whats the difference between jeanneau and beneteau?
Hi John, many thanks for your great feedback 👍 They are the SAME company albeit they have their own respective philosophies and design Teams etc. I suspect therefore that there is a common company ‘DNA’ running through both products which makes the ultimate choice ours, as their consumers, in respect of personal preference on layout, functionality and specifications. I bet there isn’t much between them in terms of their abilities on the water though. Not a specific answer but hope that helps. 😁👍

Can you leave on this boat ? I’m considering to buy it instead of the house
Also ! Is it good for fishing ?
Hi UraFlight, I guess it depends how much space you needed personally to live comfortably and where you’d be able to moor the boat in bad weather etc. Our film shows what space is available but it has all the essentials one would need. I personally wouldn’t live on it as it’s not big enough for the family!!
I do fish from the boat which is fun, and fine to do from this boat. Merry Fisher build a ‘Marlin’ version which is specifically geared towards fishing allowing easier movement around the edges of the boat. Hope that helps :)

Great, can she handles rough seas?
Many thanks for your comments George K - I saw the other comments you left on our films but they seemed to disappear when i tried to reply hence you haven't seen a reply yet!! At last I can reply to you :)
I think that question is more about how comfortable you would be going out in rough seas.
There are current flows around Pembrokeshire that could see you reduced to 10 knots at 4000rpm if you were against current (should be doing 22 knots at that rpm!!)
We always went out for pleasure and fun on the water and therefore didn't go out when the forecast was bad as we didn't need to!!
Hopefully that helps to answer your question a bit albeit I accept it's not a detailed review of rough weather boating!!! :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures Thanks a lot..we also do not decide to sail with bad forecast, but sudden winds will appear between Greek island passage.
We liked very much the 1095 but it is much more expensive. Thats why we are looking the 895. She seems a descent boat for a week getaways. An issue is the water quantity, is there space for water maker ( since we would like to order it with air con and gen) or an extra water tank?
Thanks, George and Lucy
Is there a possibility for tv installment in the saloon?
Excellent video, dear Bob and Nicky I need you help me to take a decision. You have your sun deck with a chair and I like it, but the salesman tell me is not useful, because is little sun desk. I would like your opinion. Thank you.
Hi Jorge,
Many thanks for your comment :)
We loved the front bench seat at the bow. When the front bench seat is down flat it can be used as a sun pad - one long sun pad. The bench seat is a lovely place to sit though when underway (in calm seas!!). It is big enough for up to 3 people and I would say yes to the bench seat every time!!! :)
How is the consumption of the boat?
Have a look at this film we did Shahin - that will hopefully help

Great Video, what is the fuel consumption?
Hi AJG, Many thanks for that :) The data I have so far from new is we've done 187 nm's at an average fuel use of 2.77ltrs per NM. As soon as we escape from lockdown I'll be on it and get that real time speed/lph footage!! :)
@@PowerboatingAdventures so high consumption with those gasoline outboards :( shame for a boat so nice
@@Heve62 I don't look at the pump so I don't know!! :) First run out tomorrow since December 2020 - freedom at last!!
@@PowerboatingAdventures but overall gas outboards vs inboard diesel :) a Botnia targa 32 uses about 2.1l/nm and diesel is even cheaper at the pump
Quelles sont les
Dimensions précises des lits?? Merci superbe vidéo 🤟🏻
Hi Jeremy,
Je vérifierai les dimensions demain et je vous répondrai :))
l'épisode 7 contient également quelques détails sur les lits, mais je vais vérifier pour vous 😁👍
What size petrol tank and what cat rating is this 895. Could you cross the channel in good weather.
There are two x 300 litre tanks Peter, it’s a Cat B and yes it could cross the channel in the right weather 😀☀️
Thanks for a quick response.
Sound is very low, congratulations on the bigger boat very nice indeed. I am sorry but the sound is rotten.🙉🥴
Try adjusting your device Denzil - it’s in 4K sound and video at 1080 😁😁👍
Do you need a driving license to operate this boat ?
Hi UraFlight, no licence needed to operate on GB coastal waters but we did do some RYA qualifications to learn more about boating such as Powerboat Lev. 2 course, Essential Seamanship and Navigation course and VHF Radio course. You don’t HAVE to do any of these but we’d highly recommend them!! 😁
