A brand new 2023 Jeanneau NC37 - a detailed walkthrough of this fabulous boat :)
This is a detailed walkthrough of the 2023 Jeanneau NC37. The boat is brand new :)
We very much enjoyed our visit to see, and look over, this boat which has a lot of extras fitted and it was still for sale as of May 2023, albeit probably not for long being such a good example :)
When we filmed the boat it was at Cambrian Boats in Swansea, South Wales.
Our sincere thanks to the owner of Cambrian Boats for allowing us to get some great detailed footage of this NC37!! :)

    Who locally fitted your zip wakes?

    • @PowerboatingAdventures
      @PowerboatingAdventures 6 дней назад

      They were fitted by the dealer which was not local but Lymington in Hants. I should think West Wales Marine could do that job, Rudders or of course Dale Sailing at Neyland (probably the priciest of the 3!)

    do you have the 300L gas tank? if so what max range could you go?

    • @PowerboatingAdventures
      @PowerboatingAdventures 6 дней назад

      Thanks for watching and there are twin 300 litre tanks so the 600 litre total would of course depend on speed!! At 1000rpm speed would be about 6 knots and range 383 nautical miles whereas at the other end of the scale at say 6000 rpm the range drops to 148 nm’s burning 150 litres an hour of fuel!! A big variation!!

      as far as I'm aware with the engine off the thermostat wouldn't be operating - the fresh water is merely pushed round by the hose pressure which rinses them through ok. We flush them on return from sea so they are generally warm when flushing :)

    This technique is for inboard engines (shaft drive) not for sterndrives/outboards.. you should use helm and then one engine at a time - gives most efficiency. Such technique works in light winds, but would need much of throttle in higher winds. The engines are too close to one another to have the leverage. Can work on lighter boats or with less beam. But in calm weather - it works and it is fun. But should not be your only skill.

      @@PowerboatingAdventures I’ve written to ZipWake (and their UK distributor) asking how their system is intended to work with outboard/outdrive trim, but no reply 🙁 Once you’re on the plane (on decent water), the idea of ‘leg’ trim is to lift the bow a little and, pretty much, be riding on the rear 1/2-1/3 of the hull with the propeller horizontal. The engine note gets smoother and the speed increases with no additional throttle (or maintain same speed using less fuel 👍). But, from what I’ve read and seen on RUclips, it would seem that if you then switched the ZipWakes to auto, they would try to ‘correct’ the pitch and bring the bow down. This, in turn, would mean the prop would be tilted upwards 🤦‍♂️ 🤔🤔🤔 PS We’re in Poole Harbour, our boat is berthed at Cobb’s Quay Marina.

    • @PowerboatingAdventures
      @PowerboatingAdventures 5 месяцев назад

      @garryrobson yes I agrée Garry (the sweet spot!!) and potentially begin to work against each other!! And I guess every boat would be slightly different re weight and weight distribution etc so some fine tuning as always! The cabling system to join peripherals was often referred to as NMEA 2000 cabling which was what all our peripherals were connected back to the Garmin with - I think that’s what you were referring to Garry - connection method? If I’ve got that right then a NMEA 2000 on Garmin or Google might help?

    I had the 8410xsv installed on our boat which worked great. The only thing I really didn't like was the auto routing feature, not that it didn't work OK, more that you couldn't set up routes from home. We wanted to do all our planning and then select the route when on the boat but the unit via its GPS kept locating us inland and that no route was possible. It was annoying because we had purchased a slave power lead to use at home. Overall I found the 8410 complicated to use so with the arrival of a new boat I am not sure I would install again.

    Nice video but sorry I have to disagree about your manoeuvring methods. Why would you not use the wheel (when manoeuvring) when you get so much steerage from it? The method you have used is very much a shaft drive technique, utilising prop walk and wash. As you don't have rudders you won't get any wash effect and as the prop moves on the engine prop walk is negligible on an outboard.

    What do you think about 895 série 2?

      Thanks for watching and they don’t seem to have made a load of changes. Some aesthetic stuff, which you’d expect, to fixtures and fittings and a different hull finish apparently. The front sunpad area seems to have had the most change with an easier walk around. I’m looking forward to trying to see one and of course get a walkthrough for the channel 😃

    Hi Guys, great video and very informative. I came across your videos as I am trying to get a good understanding of the running costs of a Merry Fisher 895. Therefore the fuel consumption vs speed information is a huge help. However, I do have a question I hope you can help me with. The marina that is local to me only supplies diesel fuel. Does your Marina/mooring site supply petrol fuel? If not what do you do to fuel your boat, given the large fuel capacity? ( Maybe I have to find an alternative Marina/storage location that supplies Petrol?)

      Hi RideDirt and thanks for that and for watching :) Yea our marina supplies petrol and diesel albeit it is more expensive than the road pump price by 20-30p p litre :( Some in the marina brought it in cans (25litre)to avoid the extra cost but they were generally smaller tanks. There were other petrol suppliers around us too at Milford Haven so we had a small choice. It is an issue - when we looked at travelling down to Devon there was no fuel in the North Coast so sounds like you might have to go hunting for the nearest or choose a marina that supplies which will probably be further away 🙁 A conundrum!!!

    As an absolute beginner, this is a very helpful and well done video. I'm about to take delivery of a brand new 895 Sport and all of your videos have been very instructive. Mine has the joystick, but definitely want to learn all ways to maneuver the boat in tight quarters. Thank you for sharing and cheers!

      Many thanks indeed Peter, much appreciated. Loved the 895 Sport when we did the walkthrough film and the joystick addition will be awesome!! 😀😍

    Thanks for sharing this great video. I am thoroughly confused as I am seeing some places that say you shouldn't tilt up the engine when flushing, but if you are in the water and have to flush you have to tilt.

      Thanks for watching Daniel and thanks for your feedback. Yes it depends on the engine - our 200 Honda used the fresh water ‘muffs’ which fitted to the base water inlets so the engine had to run to suck/pump the fresh water around the cooling system, via the impeller, to purge the seawater pushing it UP through the engine. The Honda had to be tilted up to allow the muffs to be put on and to prevent more sea water being sucked in when you fired it up to purge. The Yam 200’s were gravity fed. The fresh connection was at the top where they had developed a simple hose type connection that you saw me using in the film of the Yams - so hose water pressure pushed it through and it exited at the bottom of the gear leg - simple gravity - the opposite of the Honda with its bottom flush point. The Yam was tilted up to then keep it out of the sea water which would attract wildlife/barnacles etc if left in the water when away from boat the same for the Honda. I hope that makes sense!! 😁
