    I really appreciate your video and support in how things work with th printer. I have had my Epson 9900 for 11 years and use it for photography printing. I don't use it every day due to the type of work I do and have not had many problems with it. I use a clear plastic cover over the printer to keep dust and the environment out of it as much as I can. It just keeps on going. It has always daunted me in how to service the unit as the cost of everthing is going up aso. This is really good and helpful self do video and feel confident to give it a better look at how to keep it maintained. THANK YOU.

      Covers help a lot for keeping stuff out of the paper path. Leaving the printer with power so it can flush ink also helps a lot. Make sure to keep the wiper clean as well, and it helps a TON.

    I bought a 9900, printhead was replaced twice. I bought chips and refillable cartridges from China and ink from them too. I used IPA and cleaned both the old and the new printhead, it runs fine without any issues. People just don't seem bothered to take their expensive printers apart I think.

    I really liked your video about cleaning the damper assembly but it would have been nice if you showed us how to disconnect the ink lines. I took the ink line off the front and I had a gusher of ink flowing all over the printer and floor. I could not figure out how to stop it. It was awful. I finally managed to put the line back over the inlet jet and get a screw in it. How the heck can you take the damper assembly off the printer?

      I use a 10 inch long #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the 6 damper bolts with the head parked in the middle of the printer. Saves from having to take off the side plastics and sheet metal top. A good flashlight is a big help as well, just unplug it when the head isn't parked and it will slide in the carriage freely.

    Hi, First thank you for your previous answer about connecting the Flat ribbon with needle nose pliers. That was the solution to getting the ribbon back into the print head properly. Now I have another problem. When the Stylus Pro 7900 power up it did not recognize any of the ink cartridges. I did what the Epson Field Repair recommended and used a tube and paper clip to remove air from the ink cartridges. Eventually the printer recognized all of the ink cartridges but the vivid Magenta. I then repeated the tube and paper clip procedure on the vivid magenta cartridge and finally the printer recognized the vivid magenta cartridge and at same time stopped recognizing the Light Black cartridge. Now when I insert the light black cartridge the printer does not recognize all 11 cartridges. If I leave out the light black ink cartridge the printer recognizes the other 10 cartridges. Any suggestions as to why this is happening? thanks, Kayo

    Great info thank you. I searched the comments and you haven't answered anyone about the service program though. I picked up a 7900 from an art gallery that rarely used it. They wouldn't pay Epson and the local print expert won't remove more than 3 screws when green, i'm hearing is an issue, clogged it beyond self repair. So I bought it from them, cleaned everything, including taking the print head out and having to soak the bottom for a bit. I cleaned it and put it back. Now I'm reading I need the software to finish the head install.
    So where do we get it? I see it for sale on Ebay and in Europe but you said we shouldn't pay for it.

      So an hour later I discover I don't need the program because I put the same print head back in... now every channel is blinking and it's telling me to replace the cartridge. I was going to shake them anyway, so I took them all out, shook them for a while, replaced a few that were low I got with the printer (labeled 2011) and they ALL showed up except the green, which I had not planned on putting back in. But I don't have another one right now so I shook it a while, cleaned the port, inserted it and getting the same 11 death errors. I'm going to buy the program off ebay because they all showed up for a second. It read the chips and knew I put new carts in...
      It's as if it's not pressurising the ink cartridges so it thinks they aren't there...

      The middle dampers are tricky to remove. I had to use a thin seal pick (piano wire might work) to get the tabs unclipped. Because the ink switcher gets in the way, it can be really difficult to do without breaking anything. Just take your time and don't be too forceful. Wish there was an easy way to do it, but it just takes a lot of patience.

    Hi, I followed your video and found it very interesting. I bought a used 7890 with clogging problems and only 2700 prints. On the first cleaning attempt with the basic procedure I got nothing, always blocked. I disassembled and cleaned the head with the syringe and detergent, and I recovered all the channels except the black, both MK and PK.
    the test printed everything except the 3 central lines.
    I disassembled the dampers and cleaned them with the syringe, dismantling them all and cleaning them one by one.
    I reassembled everything but the problem remains, in fact it has become more serious, the test only prints the two upper and lower lines, so it has gotten worse.
    what should I do?

    I tried the other day and I drowned myself, the printer and everything within 10ft of the printer in ink 🤦

    • @o.e.r.3287
      @o.e.r.3287  Год назад +1

      Need to restart the printer in service mode, tell it to do a wiper exchange to unlock the head and then power it off. Some videos showing the process can be found, just search 'epson 9900 wiper' If you try and open the ink system with it pressurized, you end up with an ink sprinkler.

    Do you have other 7900/9900 parts? The FFC delaminated to my display controller. I “fixed” it, but it was a little loose in the connector and I didn’t notice it shorted a couple of contacts on insertion until my display went dark. Either blew the display or the power supply to it. Grrr…

      I have great luck with Posters & Vinyl Graphics out of Louisiana. They have an eBay listing for most print heads or you can contact them direct. $80 through eBay about, $60 in bulk. If they are bad, still a $25 service fee. Tend to have about 85%+ success rate. We also sell already refurbed ones when we have them for around $650-700.

      Your best bet is to prime check the head. You can also do a reverse-pull by hooking a syringe and a bit of tubing to the ink ports and carefully pulling back the plunger to remove the old ink. You can also soak the head in a shallow tray of original formula Windex, or 90% water and 10% simple green. Be gentle with your pressure using the syringe as well and after doing a pull, you can start pushing clean SG/Windex through the ports. After reassembling, run a cleaning cycle or two to pull ink through the head and re-prime it.

      @o.e.r.3287  Год назад

      @@IgorD666 If the damper isn't priming, it might be an issue with the pressurization pump. The system pushes air into the cartridges to press down on the internal bags to move the ink up into the system. Bad pumps typically give an error code however. If it is just a single or few colors, and not all, it could be gelled/solidified ink inside the lines.
