Can you also add child and dependent care expenses on amended return? If so, which line?

On my original return I checked the box that says someone will be claiming me as their dependent on their taxes but recently I found out that isn't true.
How do I fix that? I'm looking at the 1040-X but not quite sure what to do for this specific mistake. Nothing besides that needs to be changed from my original return. Thanks!

He had only worked like 3 months didn't understand what he was doing so now I'm trying to amend him what he did. I have the 1040x 2020. Guys if you find out please let me know I'll do the same.

It depends on how much taxable income you have and what your filing status is.

Could anyone help me with a 1040x to change exemptions... Filed with turbo tax, and didn't claim my exemptions for myself and my wife for 2018-19...Thus it has held up my stimulus... So confusing

John, thank you for this video saved me money! But I did have one question: I am filing single with a dependent, I missed a W2 and now having to do amendment for it. On my W2 that I am doing this had no federal income tax withheld but the social security and Medicare tax did. I added that to box 12. Will my Earned Income Credit have a change also?? PLEASE HELP

Yes. You'll need to look up the EIC amount in the table for the form 1040 instructions. It's different for different income levels.

Im still confuse. I'm amending a 2015 tax adding my son. This is hard but I only have a couple of weeks to send it before the year end. Wish I could just walk into your office.:)

Here's what the 1040X instructions say about when to file an amended return:
File Form 1040X only after you have filed your original return.
Generally, for a credit or refund, you must file Form 1040X within
3 years (including extensions) after the date you filed your
original return or within 2 years after the date you paid the tax,
whichever is later. If you filed your original return early (for
example, March 1 for a calendar year return), your return is
considered filed on the due date (generally April 15). However, if
you had an extension to file (for example, until October 15) but
you filed earlier and we received it July 1, your return is
considered filed on July 1. The time limit for filing Form 1040X
can be suspended for certain people who are physically or
mentally unable to manage their financial affairs. For details, see
Pub. 556, Examination of Returns, Appeal Rights, and Claims for
      Refund.

@@pdftax8031 thank you for the information. My 2015 was a mess and noticed my tax filer didn't get me an exemption or add my son. I know it was wrong but due to moving State to States I am just now going through them. Can I just walk in to a tax place ? I'm not sure if they do ammendment that is why I'm working on it on my own.
      Much appreciated.

I would understand more if you showed me from the original form where you are getting these numbers. I know you are using these as an example, but where on the 1040 form are you getting these numbers?
