What is Basic Ignition System?

The basic components of an ignition system are a storage battery, an induction coil, a device to produce timed high-voltage discharges from the induction coil, a distributor, and a set of spark plugs. The primary circuit carries low voltage, while the secondary circuit consists of the secondary windings in the coil, the high tension lead between the distributor and the coil, the distributor cap, the distributor rotor, the spark plug leads, and the spark plugs.
