With the back door situation, I only deliver to the backdoor if there is still daylight. Once night falls. FRONT DOOR. No matter what the app says. Your safety and what is comfortable for you should always come first.
How has he kept his job? "I just leave the package wherever" I suppose that comes out of the first thing he's learnt from 250 shifts- dont overthink your job. And as he says amazon is interested in quantity rather than quality. It's hilarious how he never rings a bell and hands a package to the customer. No.1 efficiency tip - leave your car door open when 'delivering' package so you don't waste time closing it and opening it even when it's raining.
I know right, I can't believe some things this guy said, he should be reported and lose his job..Puts all of us drivers that follow the rules and do our best in a bad light.
This explains so much about why my packages always end up in the wrong location. Sometimes even if a door isn’t marked, it’s still an entirely different apartment. I keep having to pick up packages from my upstairs neighbor no matter what I put in my delivery directions
I work for FedEx and I love making my deliveries. My boss has insurance and an IRA for us, sometimes I’m hustling on in-town stops sometimes I’m driving 10 minutes in between stops in the county. I love it and I feel like I work for someone who appreciates me.
I've been doing Amazon Flex for about a month. In my situation, every shift I complete requires an additional hour and half of work beyond the "official time". For example if it's a 3 hour shift, it will take me 4.5 hours because I have to drive about 45 minutes to the pick up location and about 45 minutes home from the last delivery. So basically if it looks like the hourly rate is $25, it's actually only $17. If it looks like it's $21, it's actually $14. I can make more money per hour by doing Uber Eats in my neighborhood. In that situation I can start my shift from home and end my shift about 5 minutes away from home. Amazon Flex is okay, but I really don't understand why so many people think this is a great gig. I feel more like a low-paid employee rather than an independent contractor. And don't get me started on the block scheduling and pay algorithim.
It’s only barely worth it for me when taking decent surge rates and my commute, loading, delivery, and return trip in is close to the block time. I’d say 75% of the time I can hit that mark. Sometimes you get no choice on the route.

Far too often, my packages would be at the end of the porch, never being notified (doorbell/door knock) that a package was delivered. Even after complaining and having Amazon make a notation that packages should be placed on the porch, near the front door, as well as to knock.
we get complaints for ringing/knocking so most drivers just don't at this point. yeah personally i pay attention if there's a note of customer disability, but i imagine not all drivers do. though it's also worth noting that probably half of Flex drivers don't even speak english, and I'm not sure if the app translates delivery notes or not
I signed up for flex in march when I lost my job and I never got contacted by amazon, but interestingly enough some time in April i started noticing that everything I order on same day will get pushed to at least the next day and sometimes will show up 3 days late. I ordered 2 prime one day shipping items this Monday and they came TODAY (Friday). My warehouse must just be fucked or something because they never contacted me back about flex and the last 20 packages I have ordered have come 3-5 days late.

We hear all the time about all the shit that flex drivers do that we have to pick up the slack and correct. It's like being told you are doing something wrong when it ain't because of you. Do not get me wrong, I have definitely cut corners and not listened to delivery notes from time to time, yes the app will tell you to do silly things, customers notes are completely Karens popping off, but it all matters. Flex drivers make it harder for those who do it full time as their job. Maybe consider trying to take the job a little more seriously. I highly enjoy being a delivery driver, I get to drive all day, work alone and listen to my music on blast while I talk to myself, and I get to be physically active while I'm getting to see some beautiful houses and met animals. Most of these things that you are stating in this video do actually have a huge impact, maybe not to you, but they do. Flex drivers have made delivering much more difficult because you can't take the extra 30 seconds to walk to their front door so you leave it at the garage, or you leave it in the lobby of the apartment complex. (I do understand having to return packages, but I am honestly sure you could probably just return them the next time you go for a shift, amazon probably won't care as long as it is within a day or two) with all this being said, maybe consider what consequences you are creating from your actions. If you don't want to take pride or do the job correctly, please find something else to do because it truly does matter, just maybe not to flex drivers. A tip for people dealing with dogs often on deliveries: you can get a cheap spray bottle and fill it with vinegar and water. If you spray it at a dog they don't like it and will usually back off but it won't do any real harm so no need to worry about the owner getting mad. This is more for if you're in a van since they can't always just drive up a driveway to toss the package at the door. Amazon marks you for returning packages that you don’t deliver . Even if you tried ur hardest to leave it somewhere safe. Support does not care about ur reasoning . It’s gotten to the point to where I have to fight with them for them not to put it on my standing. .
In regards to the key .... I had that a few times that they asked for a bunch of keys. I actually had a fake keyring .... I collected a lot of random keys I had no idea what they are from and had that in the car as 'deposit' for random securities. I would never hand out my ID or real keys.
@@the_batmobile0.4how much do you get paid 😂 tf $18-25/hr for being your own boss is pretty reasonable if you in poverty . But then again flex is like a second job, I’ll only use the money for gas and small bills while my real job pays for other stuff
@the_batmobile0.4 I just made 540 in 3 days... not even long blocks either. 3:15 3:30am surge blocks are killer I also have 6 amazon flex buildings within 30 miles of me so tons of opportunities. Location is key. Keep in mind only 2 blocks a day. 4 or 5 hours max. Oh and I spent 40 50 bucks max on gas not a eco vehicle either it's a 2011 kia sedona.
The one time i called driver support and asked them to manually mark a package delivered the agent marked ALL my remaining packages delivered. When i realized and called back they had no choice but for me to return to the SSD warehouse early with the packages and end. I definitely expect driver support to screw up any request like 33% of the time.
You have helped me understand why watching the amazon app. On your package is 10stops away. Looks like the Family Cruise kids delivering packages. Also My Friend will do Walmart ext delivers. She always pisses people off with. Ill take the $10($1). Because she has realized that taking the lower ones or $1 tips end up paying more. She goes when shes the 3rd-4th preson to finally deliver the $10 item. The Preson will hand her $5 with thank you for delivering. Because the preson is handicapped or works from home. She goes i do it my way. Im nice. It makes the people with the if im not getting $20tip im not doing it, mad.
Good video. I'm just wondering why you don't factor in potential rain when delivering. I don't deliver to steps vs. front door which has a porch. That is being lazy and needs a ding on your quality level.
i do the bare minimum i can to keep my standing high, any additional time i spend is better off being used for anything that isn't driving for amazon lol
they're rarely around here, but there are a lot of Luxer lockers. the issue is they're always within the locked lobby and i'm never given a code or key. bruh
In my area, these apartments sometimes have a list of courier codes. So nice when they do because I often have to double park in these urban areas and I am not trying to pay a parking ticket.
I find it annoying when drivers don’t put the package on my porch, it makes me want to stop buying from Amazon. But hearing your explanation I get the drivers challenge.
Never in my life have I seen such an interesting and uniquely attractive young man. Thanks for the tips and laughs. Looking to try out the app as soon as I climb the interest list...
I deliver in Charlotte late night 3am blocks and get a lot of “controlled access” stops where I don’t have a code to get in and there is literally nothing I can do to deliver the package except leave outside the locked door that perhaps 100’s of other people who probably do have a code to get in to, enter through so are you saying leave it at that door? Or on top of the locker that I also don’t have a code for? Amazon just doesn’t give you access codes for a lot of these stops so my only option is to return it a lot of times. I always try to keep high metrics because I’m not sure how heavy each mistake weighs. I’ve never dropped below great.
I don't think it's unreasonable to leave packages at the leasing office. More often than not I take them to the front door, but there are times when those apartments and trailers aren't labeled properly and I just can't find the place. Call text customer no reply. If I'm near the warehouse I return it, but sometimes I'm an hour away from the warehouse at end of shift. So returning them the next day I have to find something to do for an hour between 10 and 11am. It's such a hassle sometimes.
"I don't think it's fair that when I do a bad job and leave the package on a public sidewalk, it gets stolen and I get in trouble." Lmao. Actually hemorrhaging respect for that one. It's your responsibility to deliver the package, and you're just leaving 'em out on public sidewalks? Cringe.
PLEASE do not use bear spray on dogs! There is a mild pepper spray that is specifically for dogs that is much safer. Another affective deterrent is an air horn.
Speaking of chickens on deliveries this morning one of the houses I delivered to in the city had this little chicken tunnel and near the sidewalk they had a bubble gum candy machine with chicken feed for 25 cents I thought that was really clever
If you look at the base rate PER PACKAGE, you will only get paid about $2.00 for EACH delivery. Think about the fact that if you have 37 packages, and you only get paid $77.00. Then $77.00 divided by 37 is only..... (that sucks.)
A very tough Job. Driving in traffic all day requires mental meditation and physical exercises. You are sitting, gettin up, sitting, getting up. Late hours, avoiding car accidents, avoid package theft from your car, walking into bad hoods. The address is wrong, double parking, avoiding tickets, paying tolls, paying meters, etc.
boredom is definitely the biggest issue for me nowadays lol. the nice thing about running into delivery issues, is at least it's mentally stimulating and keeps me awake 💀
My biggest issue was that I kept getting sent to houses with locked gates so it was impossible to be within range. Can't really avoid support at that point because of the range issue :/ Though after the second support call it seemed to glitch and stopped needing you to be within range of the door
I'm so glad you do not deliver packages to my house. by watching the video I couldn't believe you placed packages in areas that would not be protected from rain. You clearly stated you delivered packages to the bottom of the steps instead of at the door. You where even seen delivering packages and leaving them on the steps. You kept saying that you where efficient, but clearly your lazy on how you deliver packages. I'm appalled and shocked that you would even make a video like this and post it on RUclips.
I experience it, I have a 48 min away to deliver a package and I don’t know what to do because it was my first time. So I was speeding the whole drive 😭 and I manage to deliver it around 38 mins and 46 mins back home. 💔
Greetings. .. Random question: When signing up for Amazon Flex, should you use your personal Amazon account or create a new account specifically for Amazon Flex? .. Thanks in Advance.
Can you talk about Amazon fresh deliveries and high rise rich apartments where you have to take them up to the 54th floor several damn times and no one will help
honestly considering delivering since I'm in a population dense area and figured I could get nearby routes. That and I need my own hours but don't feel comfortable doing a lot of uber stuff
funnily, the geofence is at the leasing office the majority of the time. I assume previous drivers already got it updated. otherwise, you can turn on airplane mode
No way bro is leaving packages on the sidewalk 😂 you'd be fired on day one of you worked for a dsp they are crazy strict and they do weekly reports based on customer ratings
15:26 you are absolutely right and customers who get upset with you are wrong and do not understand dogs even though they own a dog. The dog doesn't know you, and doesn't know what amazon is. If the dog's owner isn't present to indicate to the dog by their attitude that you're not a threat, as far as the dog knows you're a stranger encroaching on their territory uninvited. You very well could be a threat and the dog may feel that it has a responsibility to protect it's family and territory from you. A dog who is friendly towards strangers when their owner is present may still be hostile to strangers when the owner is absent or sleeping.
Ironic that my Amazon delivery got dropped while I was watching this video. I have a designated drop spot so drivers can quickly drop and go. We recently got put on a route, deliveries were through USPS and UPS previously. I appreciate my drivers. No more crushed packages and destroyed merchandise like with UPS and USPS.
Never discount the viciousness of chihuahuas., My downstairs neighbour had 2 and they would literally bite my ankles and draw blood. She would get pissed if I kicked at them to keep them away. Also, why does it not surprise me the bezos has the cheapest crap app and outsources support to india where he pays them peanuts. He's a dick.
Not true, they blame you regardless if picture was taken or not. Usually you just get an automated email and your status drops for a few days. You are not even allowed to know what package or where it was delivered, so there isn't anything you can do about it. Just try and hide packages as best you can. Usually it's someone's neighbor or a dog that stole the package.
Tip for you: you can always move the delivery geofencing location yourself if you turn on airplane mode first before going to that screen. No need to call driver support to move it. Just remember to turn airplane mode off again before trying to start the next delivery.
Most of my deliveries that have the location in a random place, are in rural areas. My cell service is basically non-existent. I will try this. Hopefully it will work.
Make sure Bluetooth is on. Sometimes turning airplane mode on turns off Bluetooth. You can leave it airplane mode until you need internet again, the app will work just fine.
With the back door situation, I only deliver to the backdoor if there is still daylight. Once night falls. FRONT DOOR. No matter what the app says. Your safety and what is comfortable for you should always come first.

In regards to the key .... I had that a few times that they asked for a bunch of keys. I actually had a fake keyring .... I collected a lot of random keys I had no idea what they are from and had that in the car as 'deposit' for random securities. I would never hand out my ID or real keys.
This job sounds stressful and annoying.
And it pays shit
@@the_batmobile0.4how much do you get paid 😂 tf $18-25/hr for being your own boss is pretty reasonable if you in poverty . But then again flex is like a second job, I’ll only use the money for gas and small bills while my real job pays for other stuff
@@the_batmobile0.4 not true
@@avamusic8176 YES IT is TRUE. sHIT PAY FOR ALL THE PCKAGES THEY EXPECT YOU TO DELIVER. If you disagree, you don't know your worth..
That sticker on the laptop.......
taking notes, got a Person into amazon flex, but they're still on the waitlist XD TY dude
I was, no exaggerating, on the Flex waitlist for 3 years
The one time i called driver support and asked them to manually mark a package delivered the agent marked ALL my remaining packages delivered.
Im nice. It makes the people with the if im not getting $20tip im not doing it, mad.
i have literally never chucked a package out into fields of veggies out in the country side and mark em missing,
My building has an Amazon Locker just off of the lobby. Why wouldn't every enclosed residential building with 100+ units have one?
they're rarely around here, but there are a lot of Luxer lockers. the issue is they're always within the locked lobby and i'm never given a code or key. bruh
In my area, these apartments sometimes have a list of courier codes. So nice when they do because I often have to double park in these urban areas and I am not trying to pay a parking ticket.
Wow, with that attitude you should not work unattended
:)
10/10 video Alex, very helpful advice
Kinda crazy that I seen your video a year ago and applied for amazon and still working there.
I find it annoying when drivers don’t put the package on my porch, it makes me want to stop buying from Amazon. But hearing your explanation I get the drivers challenge.
Nah its always to the door. Not all of us are the same 😂😂
@@bigchills7194 I 👂 you, I do get enough drivers who put packages 📦 at the door 🚪 who keep me satisfied
Never in my life have I seen such an interesting and uniquely attractive young man.
Thanks for the tips and laughs. Looking to try out the app as soon as I climb the interest list...
Thank you for all the information you shared it very helpful 😀
The best video I have watched. I thought I was the only one afraid of dogs . Thank you for the information 👏🏻👏🏻
thanks!
Cringe.
Hey if your late and cool with the people they can manually check you in through the system PSA
PLEASE do not use bear spray on dogs! There is a mild pepper spray that is specifically for dogs that is much safer. Another affective deterrent is an air horn.
if a dog attacks someone then the dog's welfare is no longer a significant concern
@cesar Thank you for saying that. So true.
As someone who doesn't drive and will probably never learn, I found this video very informative.
Same.
I was dinged for returning a package because the amazon gas station locker was broken 😂
Deal with it. You get what you pay for. And with Amazon you get quantity over quality.
Food delivery is the exact same thing. Time is everything.
"It sounds like I'll go to prison for life and get a lot of unconsensual boyfriends" lmaoo
LOL😂
If u don’t deliver to an apartment door chances are its not going to get to the customer so eventually your scores gonna drop
Oh you take photos of other peoples packages… that would explain my meeting with HR tomorrow
I experience it, I have a 48 min away to deliver a package and I don’t know what to do because it was my first time. So I was speeding the whole drive 😭 and I manage to deliver it around 38 mins and 46 mins back home. 💔
thanks for the insight... I always keep Flex in my back pocket if something happens with my other freelancing gig.
What's ur other gig?
@@hondagang1831 I'm a broadcast TV video engineer.
If you need to move a gps location because its wrong put your phone in airplane mode and it will let you change it without calling driver support.
And make sure Bluetooth is on, sometimes turning airplane mode on turns off Bluetooth for some phones.
Thanks for the tip
Where is the tip that makes my city have openings for flex? I've been waiting almost three weeks and still no openings for flex OR for spark q.q
it is simply down to patience lol
It takes months of wait-list for flex in a moderately busy market at this point. Even a year ago I waited 2+ months. Hang in there
@@trissdv1 Maybe my girlfriend and I can move in with @goherping 😂😂

Greetings.
How much of your phones data does Amazon Flex use?
huh, I've actually never checked or been asked before. it used 1.57 GB last month. i did 20 shifts
@@GoHerping Thanks, I just thought people might have to check their phone plan.
honestly considering delivering since I'm in a population dense area and figured I could get nearby routes. That and I need my own hours but don't feel comfortable doing a lot of uber stuff
Isn't it illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving in usa. It is in uk.
Im an amazon delivery driver...only been doing it a month an hate every sec of it......flex sounds a lil more manageable but still...
they never answer when you call ...never
Im Not scared of dogs one bit, and its like they know that as they are always ok with me.
I said the same thing until I got bit by a chihuahua. Then, attacked by 2 pit bulls. No more dogs for me.
Thanks, loved the tips❤❤❤ listening twice, your sooo cool 😎
thanks!
I live in a rural area and always have trouble
So what happens to the packages that have a password and can’t deliver because of the customer is not there??
How are you dropping it at leasing if it’s outside the geofence without calling drivers support
funnily, the geofence is at the leasing office the majority of the time. I assume previous drivers already got it updated. otherwise, you can turn on airplane mode
So what happens if they start your shift late because of storms? Do you have to work over your shift time to deliver?
Shift gets cancelled and you get paid for the shift.
whats stopping flex drivers from taking the picture and then taking it back to their car?
god

Oh shit, my Amazon packages be popping up like I'm playing Pokemon GO
turn your phone are airplane mode and u dont need to worry about being in the circle
I still miss the lizards 🦎 😢
If you turn off cellular and go hit the x u can hit gps not working
how do you like it in the RDU area?
Bro at our dsp we deliver 250-280 on a average with 150-180 stops it’s hell sometimes

Work and at home life need to be a light switch, if you can't flick that switch then don't do customer service because people suck.
Did bro get a new laptop?
Never discount the viciousness of chihuahuas., My downstairs neighbour had 2 and they would literally bite my ankles and draw blood. She would get pissed if I kicked at them to keep them away. Also, why does it not surprise me the bezos has the cheapest crap app and outsources support to india where he pays them peanuts. He's a dick.
People who call you smelly and ugly are jealous of your beauty and wish they looked as good as you!
Would you say having a bigger car like a Model X compared to a Model 3 will get you higher pay on Flex?
it'll be lower since it requires extra energy and more expensive parts. drivers are given the same blocks regardless of vehicle
Good info!
thanks!
@15:10 You don't get out of the car when theres a dog inthe yard...weird. I assumed you just ran them over
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please follow the customer instructions. I have had packages stolen because they were left in the driveway, and not on the front porch.
Damn 35 seconds no likes? You fell off
Alex putting on the riz for a Flex Video made me laugh!
You are a 10 out of 10 though!
Watching this before a 315 am flex shift
i just finished one 😎
I notice you pull into the customers driveway, stop doing that and theres a guaranteed 4 seconds saved, of course if it’s long pull in
Scan and take picture at the same exact location and they wont blame you for the lost package. Dont scan package walking up to the door.
This mf was too funny with the way he described his deliveries and methods 😂 suscribed !
