I bought a house here in November and moved from South Florida. It's a wonderful place to live. I live on the south side which is a couple of miles from where you were walking. You missed so much like the abandoned public library which is stunning as well as several other stunning churches. White tail deer are everywhere and more kinds of birds than you can shake a stick at. There aren't a lot of cops which is nice. It was 4 months before I saw one pass my house but there are speed traps here and there. I've walked all the streets you visited. They aren't really crazy about minorities here but for the most part they keep that to themselves. Lots of gays though. The shopping in the Parkersburg area is amazing and Mineral Springs is only 5 miles away and they have dirt track racing I'm really looking forward to. There are plenty of jobs here with help wanted signs everywhere. The biggest negative are the fentanyl junkies some of which are shipped here from the capital. It's a big problem in WV.

@@SightsSoundsFlavors Calling it a city is a bit of a stretch lol. More like a big town compared to South Florida but I love it here. I grew up in the country on the Vermont boarder so it felt like home when I found my home which is right across the street from Ft. Borman (not sure on the spelling) not far from Kokomos. The weather here is a bit crazy but John Denvers song perfectly describes the state.

@@dp-kz5cs Yeah there are some junkies that live in the forest of Ft Boreman across from my house but I'm pretty sure I've scared the shit out of them enough to avoid me like the plague lol. If not the coyotes need to eat too. Vienne was a bit too busy for me. Nice place to shop but a horrible place to drive. There aren't many cops around and I'm sure they have their hands full. My neighbors are pretty nice and we get along well but they tend to lean to the hillbilly side. There's a mansion across the street but a bit further down the street people are pretty poor. I think my neighbors think I'm rich lol.

Very cool tour. My great, great uncle Col. W.N. Chancellor, built the Blennerhassett Hotel. His brother, my great, great grandfather piloted and owned the riverboat, the W.N. Chancellor, up and down the Ohio in the late 1800's. My g. g. g; Grandfather William Palmer Rathbone and his son my g. g. grandfather Col. John Castelli Rathbone & his brother John Valleau Rathbone dug the Rathbone well at Burning Springs. My great uncle William Palmer Rathbone Jr. worked in the courthouse in PKG. I'm related to Peter Van Winkle and so many others in PKG. i have a large connection to Parkersburg is what I'm saying, even though I was born California and having never been to this incredibly historic city. I live downtown and it’s a really nice place. But, as much as I love Parkersburg, the 200-800 blocks of Market St are not exactly representative of the city as a whole. It’s got its problems, like a lot of places, but by in large, it’s a really wonderful place with really wonderful people and I’m proud to call it home. I relocated there from Clarksburg, and I much prefer Parkersburg. Also, I know it’s been said a few times, but we don’t call it “PKB”. It’s just a catchy abbreviation. Cool video bud.

I live here, its a great place to come retire, and live the remaining years of your life. Its not great if you are in your early 20s. Young adults will find it a struggle here, both to find work and affordable places to live. We have a pretty bad opiod problem, and at one point a bad meth problem. Downtown looks clean becuase its the selling point, if you left from here and went about 20 block in any direction, youd start findign the neighborhoods, where the graffiti, run down buildings and boarded up homes and business;s become mroe abundant

Pkb native. The reason you don't see a high police presence (or any presence) in the "down town" area. It's really only an area where residents go to if they work or have business in the area. Not that there's anything wrong with that part of town. There's just not much going on there. Grand central Ave is much busier. For recreation local parks would be more where people would go. Point park or city park. But "downtown" doesn't have very much hustle and bustle.

Thank you for the walk around; retiring and want to find a smaller place but with all the places I enjoy in my town without the 15-20 minute drive to get to a grocery store. When you see the small spray painting, it's called tagging which means that a gang has marked their territory, similar to a dog peeing on a fire hydrant.

I live downtown. From 2nd to 9th St there might be a dozen total apartments on Market St, so there’s not many people to do those activities. This also appears to be early on the weekend, so there’s barely anyone around. There’s more people further out, but as Nikkik8418 said, no one does that downtown. A few of us walk our dogs, but it’s normally really early or really late.
