I remember CBS Mystery Theater going off the air in the late 1980s or early 90s after Tom Snider ,after my wife & i listening at bed time nightly we thout to never hear that creaking door again, old radio serials are the best of youtube .
i was 11 yrs old when i first heard this in 1974.i had to goto bed at 8:30 on school nights(god i hated that!) and i had one of those tabletop 1940's radios with the vaccuum tubes in it(what a great sound it had!).i would tunein to the AM and catch it....such good memories! this was one of the best episodes they ever made and hickey, dickery, doom!
Love the addition of the commercials, really takes me back the whole package.
I remember listening to this back in 1974...fond memories.
Me too i was 15 when started listening 1974... my friends called me weird... Well I'm still listening at 61.
love these radio plays,...make a nice long drink, find a comfy chair, turn the lights down, relax, and be prepared to be taken to a by gone era,hahahahahaha...
+danny smith good old days....
YEP thats exactly what I say.
YES! Theater of the mind is best!!!
I'm 85. I guess I lived in the bygone era.
Love this radio program. Dracula is my favorite vampire story. I love these old radio program. I'm glad that they are here to listen to.
Agree!
I listened to these as a young man it was always broadcast after Cincinati Reds baseball This play was broadcast I believe on Hallowen and it scared me all night long.
I wouldn't have surprised if Dracula was played by Peter Lorre. He sounded like it.
I lovvvved Peter Lorre😍
Great episode curling up with a blanket earphones and hot chocolate.
Classic radio horror! Can't shake the thought who the talented Mercedes McCambridge voice is associated to in popular culture through The Exorcist, which makes her scarier than Count Dracula himself!
Hey ma what's for dinner?!!! Love the commercials!!
*amandasdesigns* LoL, ya, i can never get that one to stop replaying either -but the funny thing is, i don't want to. It is such a comforting little ditty! :)
That particular commercial makes me sad, I wish I knew why. oh well
"...Listen to them!...The Children of the night...What music they make..."
Better than HDTV any day.
Great: you can’t get better than the Count! Thanks!!
Dracula on Radio, great thank you.
I fell asleep listening to this and these are great little radio shows
wow i never knew that they did a dracula radio broadcast ! i have seen all the great films of dracula.can't wait to listen to this !
Oh, yes!!!! Dracula!
+melanie brandt ...WINE SIR, NO , I NEVER DRINK .....WINE...
LISTEN TO THEM, WHAT SWEET MUSIC THEY MAKE. CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT..
PLEASANT DREAMS..
ARRRRHHHH
Melanie Brandt If not for your suggestive insight into an old staple of horror beyond most all of the better known books read the flair of which is as it was an for generations will be a classic.
Armed Forces Radio in Panama (a million years ago) used to play radio mystery theater each night. I could always tell the nature of a roommate by his reaction to me playing this at night. Once I became an NCO it was weird actually missing having a roommate.
Miss this show!
this version is great!! Mercedes McCambridge is one of the greats & hereing her voice here makes this version ever scarier because everyone knows shes the voice of the evil in the EXORCIST..shes brillant..n u know youve got talent when even today 2013 no actual footage is needed to scare you just that voice n.the talent that comes out over the speakers
))
Thank you for posting this. It stars my cousin.
I never missed an episode, I got to recognize all the actors voices , Fred Gwynne was a frequent player (Herman Munster), also Mandel Kramer was one of my favorite actors, I believe this show preceded The Sears radio hour., in the 70's.
Wonderful!
I will sit down tonight as the light turns to darkness. Sip a cup of tea and listen to the horrors of cbs movie theatre.
this was a very good broadcast! chills ran down my spine when i listened to this story!
damn thanks for this!!
Love these shows. The best ever
I loved this and loved the 1974 commercials....a 7.9% short term CD Rate!! YIKES...when you look at the 0.4% or so offered today makes you realize how messed-up the American economy really is!
You realize that the inflation rate was 14% then, don't you?
i just love this program remember lying in my bed when I was 14 wide eyed listening to every word
F.F. now I'm 50ish doing the same damn thing. love it
Me too

Fantastic!
i love old radio shows so much , id like to be part of one , just a thought , i think that would be so cool
Omg this news is a flash back ... as dreadful as the news today ... they never quit makes me weary😨 but thanks for leaving it in.
AAA THANX SO MUCH !!!!
awesome rendition of this classic story, thank you for posting! normally i skip all commercials but i loved listening to these vintage ones on purpose! after the drama, a current live news broadcast probing the "recent" watergate scandal was an unexpected bonus!
AAARGH! Dracula , get Goldilocks!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ from England
Love it!!!!
I see that you posted your comment a year or so ago, nonetheless if you search RUclips for Dracula radio dramas, you'll find a few more, including Orson Welles' famous Mercury Theater version, from 1938. There are a few others too.
Listened in 10-2020 🤓
You can't go wrong with Dracula.
This one went VERY wrong. It’s only 25% of the story.
if it has Mercedes McCambridge in it it has to be good
What perfect timing - I'm the 100th person to click - thumbs up.
I got to be 200th!
I was 5 years old and my asshole older brothers used to call me to listen to this radio program before bed time.
The black cat image on tv commercials scared the fuck out of me. But then that creaking door..... "Mom!!!!!"
Miss Mina Harker has a lovely smoker's voice.
Dracula Lives!
not enough ads. unironically.
I do wish I liked Mercedes McCambridge- but her voice grates on me so. Sort of old and hysterical.
yea i was thinking the same about her voice.
Mary Wilder ,she was voice in the exorcist
My God the commercials! They sound like parodies of themselves!
This sucks. Love it.
10-31 all the cobwebs in house turn into Halloween decorations!
Good story but the actress playing Mina is far too old. Mina is a young woman, not in her 50's.
What happened to shop right? I like there prices!!!#lol
Don't Blame you Tammy! There's another Shop Rite jingle, a bit more disco- balladish on some of the other WOR episodes from this same period. Along with another Can-can number from about the third episode in the series. I happen to work with a guy whose sister worked at Shop Rite around this time, and he was amused to hear them again!
My geritol just came in
lush
Why would she be surprised that wolfs are in the country.I live in the country and their all over the place.
Mina Harker, 19, sounds like she's 50.
Generally my least favorite episodes are the ones that try to truncate an entire novel into a single hour. It just doesn't work.
Any one who actually read "Dracula" probably remembers how over-written the novel was. Bram Stoker was great with short stories, but tended to reach beyond his grasp with full length novels -imo. It is nice to see the story streamlined into a one hour radio play! :)
SUCK
come to me my lover lol why pay rent no landlord council tax bills only food you need is BLOOOD LOL
Good episode, however the howling wolves were annoying
Paul Harvey.GoodDay?

Horrible adaptation, but worth listening to for the news at the end.
wow watergate was in the news back then, nothing has changed politically .
