    Seems like many Columbine survivors became teachers or nurses. Thes young people trying to make a positive out of something so tragic.

      Monica,
      My dad was a Vietnam vet. He saw many of his friends killed. Later in life when he was willing to talk about it he said something I will never forget. “Trauma never leaves you. You make peace and learn to coexist with it.”
      I watched many interviews of these extraordinary survivors of that evil day. I understand what my father meant.🙏🏿

      Toni Whitt actually Richard Castaldo is the one who told everyone exactly what was said to her. She was shot from a ways away and so was Richard. Then they approached them and Eric grabbed her by her hair and lifted her head up and said, and I quote, “Eric said, ‘Do you still believe in God?’ And Rachel said, ‘You know I do.’ And Eric said, ‘Then go be with him’ and he shot her in the head.” This is not something he has ever said differently. So maybe you need to do the research. The other person who has been said to have been asked about God was Cassie Burnall and that was the one who people claim did not happen.

      Her story about the hand of "angel" - just some mental trauma illusion. Can't blame her for that.

      survivor030406 Yes Eric was on Zoloft. But antidepressants are supposed to raise your serotonin levels; which actually doesn't have an effect on your mental health. Serotonin is a hormone found in the stomach. The reason they still get sold despite proof that they don't work (Placebo on the other hand...) is because they sell immensly good. I know that because I was in the mental hospital for 3 months and had to take escitalopram, which is similar to Zoloft and my episodes got worse and worse. I did alot of research and that's how I found out the system is rigged. Doctors describe them because they get sponsored by pharmacies and they get teached in the university that they work. It's all business.

    It would be nice if we were hearing about inspirational stories from students about other classmates. It takes commitment to do nice things too. I wish these guys or any people involved in such events understood that everything they were going through feeling like they did is all based in what they feel about themselves. Everything in life takes time and work. Kinda stupid to think that everything is about girls. To be honest it isn’t all about girls at all. It’s about feeling bad about ourselves and how we need to stop thinking so irrationally about things in life and take time to slow down and consider other possibilities. Anxiety ridden world we live in. And I know that people possess great power. That power even though difficult to use to help others because it can mean putting ourselves at risk is honestly the best thing you can do for yourself. Eventually all that power leads to a better world. Even if you don’t see the direct effects of it there is no denying the feeling you did something wonderful and life changing. I for one believe God was watching over her. Sometimes someone plays with my hair and it’s not during times of panic. I hope young people will also realize that coming from someone like myself who did not believe in God at all after something traumatic happened to me that down the line life got better and my faith is really strong now. Talk to people to if you are having bad feelings. I had no idea my sister was having thoughts of suicide but she told me and I was shocked but I’m very thankful she told me.

      If that's what you feel comfortable with, good for you. Your kids. Your choice.
      I home school my son, not due to fear ( I live in a country that has never had a school shooting so far, touch wood, so do not know this fear) but due to many other reasons, school just wasn't right for him, his sisters attend school however. And he is extremely bright, reading and doing maths work at a higher level than his peers, and despite what some of these comments might have you think, he is very friendly, can have conversations with anyone and find common ground and has a lot of friends and attends a lot of extracurricular activities to ensure the social side is kept up. They will only be socially isolated if you allow them to be and there are plenty of ways to make sure that doesn't happen.

    Anne Marie Hochhalter shared her story too and it was a sad one that involved later on the suicide of her own Mother. While I feel for Hochhalter she also, even 10 years later, when she spoke, displays a type of snotty attitude that was typical in some teenagers back then. I cannot protest to know what went on in those boys minds but we all were young once and often times jealousy as well as inferior feelings come about when you see person(s) you think has the kind of lifestyle you want. Some Eric and Dylan shot out of just reaction or reflex because they didn't care. The students just happened to be there or where they were at that time. Neither Eric or Dylan were thinking past high school and it was all like a game to them. When you suffer in your mind you look for things that motivate you to keep on going. Unfortunately, revenge is a powerful motivator. When kids should be worrying about making the grades and they have to worry about who will pick on them on any day that isn't a school of learning. It does not breed a healthy environment. Things happen also to make kids change their minds on making a life altering decision. Might be something as simple as a popular kid takes the time to talk to them like they are somebody. Nothing wrong with being athletic but you can also use that talent to be a positive role model in the classroom and all around the school. Winning an athletic event is a short lived thrill just like drugs, alcohol, and showing someone else you are physically stronger to, in your own warped mind, impress someone else. These lessons and so many others related to picking on other kids or as it referred to as bullying were around LONG before Columbine occurred. Sadly it takes a tragedy far too often before certain people will get the message.

    • @michaellovely6601
      @michaellovely6601 2 года назад +3

      At the time you mention; Anne Marie Hochhalter was still angry at the parents of the shooters. Anne Marie was put through the wringer after the shooting; aside from having to get used to life in a wheelchair, Anne Marie also had to deal with the stress of media intrusion. Though when her mother Carla committed suicide; Anne Marie also had to deal with her grief over the suicide of her mother and renewed stress over media intrusion. When asked if Columbine drove her mother to commit suicide; Anne Marie is quick to say no and explains that her mother had struggled with Depression for years, so while Columbine didn't cause her mother to become depressed or commit suicide, it didn't help. When Dylan's mother Sue Klebold broke her silence in February of 2016 by publishing a book that is titled "A Mother's Reckoning: Living in the Aftermath of Tragedy" and also sitting down with ABC News anchor Diane Sawyer on the ABC News program "20/20"; Anne Marie published an open letter to Sue Klebold on Facebook, this letter was one of forgiveness instead of condemnation. Anne Marie explained that her decision to forgive Sue Klebold stemmed from the realization that holding onto the feelings of anger and hatred towards Sue was doing nothing for her aside from weighing her down.

    Very sad and still clearly a torment for this lady every single day and will likely continue to do so. The Angel she mentioned, may have not been an angel (depends on what you choose to believe), when someone is facing imminent death in front of their eyes, the brain can release a massive amount of euphoria (similar to taking ecstasy) in order to ease the individual's torment, its the brains way of reducing the suffering and can also help to save the individual's life ( in some cases), due to improving 'executive functions' potentially allowing the individual to think and act in the event. During complete fear the brain often freezes and people panic and do irrational things that can often lead to their demise, i'm not saying this is the case for this lady, maybe an angel did save her life: who knows. However, just another avenue to consider. I am a psychology student and close to the end of my degree, so i'm aware of what the brain can do in certain scenario's, sadly we will never know. I hope this lady finds peace in her life and well done to her not giving up.

    If you watch the interviews of the shooting victims from Columbine, and the victims from Parkland..... they're two different breeds of humans... The Columbine generation are very emotionally attached to one another...the Parkland generation are very much emotionally dead/detached, and seem very narcissistic.....why such a contrast in the generation's demeanor?.....Columbine was before cell phones were popular or even affordable.....students of today have their faces in their phones....I think it's proof that cell phones and easily accessible internet are what's killing today's children's emotions ...the Columbine kids interacted face to face, they connected on a more "exchanging of energies" a one on one kind of connection, it's ALL they had, today's generation...their best friend is a cell phone.....no one can tell me that this isn't a factor in the emotionally detached, narcissistic demeanor/behavior of today's generation of teens.... it's killing their souls....before their bodies even die....their hollow shells....where the Columbine kids are very full of spirit and emotion.... they're more human, where today's kids are emotionless, detached robots

    Evidently God's angels cared about Kacey Johnson but not about any of the 13 dead people. How fortunate for Kacey! Honestly, these religious people are so arrogant. It's sickening how sure they are that "the Lord" favors them over others.

    The only way to stop a lot of these people from their evil ways is a renewal of love for others.. A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13.34). ................................................... And the other "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil AND on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who (ONLY) love you, what reward do you have? Even the tax-collectors do the same? AND IF YOU ONLY GREET YOUR BRETHEREN, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the heathen do the same? You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect (Matthew 5.44-48).

    I wish Dylan was still alive I believe he would've felt bad for what he did he was a normal kid dealing with depression but what made him do it is Eric Eric was crazy and psychotic idk why they got bullied tho there's kids at my school just like them and they don't seem to get bullied or anything
