I like that fact that it puts a time limit on it... and phantasm reference!

The second I read the Description for the "Phase Stingers" my mind went straight to Phantasm

Thanks Bob! Gotta say, burnout is a real thing and these videos take a good 8 hours of work to get done(ish), working on Nights Dark Terror, which is a really good module, but I'm debating on whether or not split it up (which I don't really favor) or releasing another 20-30 minute video on it to do it justice.
I'll probably finish up Sword and Shield (a thunder rift module) before I finish Nights Dark Terror

Thanks for the review on this B/X gem. But my dude...that cover art (by John & Laura Lakey) is pure bodacious 1980s awesomeness! Feathered-hair and spray-on tans count as plus or minus 1 AC? 🤔😂

    • @TheLostAdventurer
      @TheLostAdventurer  2 года назад +3

+1AC but now they're weak to any fire based attacks

Welcome back, it’s good to see you producing content again. Thank you for the review. I will probably avoid this module as you are not the only person who has basically panned it. Keep up the good work.

I had decent hopes for this one, B11 was fine, but this one, I don't know, I think Carl Sargent tried to fit too much adventure into a very small book, and missed out on alot of the extra peripheral stuff.

Hello The Lost Adventurer, glad to see your making content again. Randomly found your skeleton video a week or two ago. Absolutely love, Quest for the Silver Sword, that is the perfect side quest or oneshot and would be a great launching point for a campaign. I'm definitely going to run that module, converted over the ratlings, spitting beetle and white widow spider to 5e, the rest of the monsters already have stats in 5e. If you really want to go old school, you could cover the very first model ever in D&D, Temple of the Frog - Blackmoor campaign.
Thanks TLA, you have a wonderful day!

Hello Matt! Welcome to my little corner of youtube. I'm actually "trying" to focus on the BECMI version but I do sometimes stray into AD&D, I'm working on Nightd Dark Terror (an excellent module) but the one I'm probably going to release sooner os Sword and Shield, which is in the same setting as Quest for the Silver sword.

Always great to see you make more content. I would like to kindly ask for a review in my favorite module B4: The Lost city. I just want to see what you honestly think about it and I'm curious how many torches it will get.

Hey Ben, thought I replied to this, but it appears it was only on my imagination.
I actually ran Lost City. But the 5e conversion by Goodman games, and I gotta say, having PCs that can create food and water kind of gets rid of the sense of urgency or even reason to go further, but in a BECMI sense it gives PCs a reason to build alliances and work with the factions. I just never ran it in BECMI unfortunately

Sounds like the ratings at the end were a big generous given your lack of enthusiasm for this module. Thanks for the review.

They are, I realize that even though I may personally dislike certain aspects, it doesn't mean that it's not a decent adventure, I just really have an aversion to railroady adventures with little to nothing else in the story. There's no shops, nothing is really fleshed out, no taverns or inns, only a couple named NPCs.
The more I talk about it.... yeah, I may have been generous

@@TheLostAdventurer I think it's good to acknowledge your own bias and try to be fair. I feel the same as you though. I prefer an open adventure. Gives the PCs more room to screw up in a glorious way.

Total sidebar comment - that still of Carl at the beginning is begging for some gold chains! That is all :)

Could make the thieves a bit more dangerous, one an assassin for instance. Break out some poison, flirting, a good time for all.

I blame many of my poor choices in dating on this trope bring part if my formative years.
My wife resembles the chainmail swordswoman in the Moldvay basic set in several ways. She was surprised when I showed her the drawing that has been in my mind since age 10
