I realized listening to this why I loved Ace Combat 4 so much: You were almost always part of a larger battle. Although you were the elite ace, you were still in the proverbial "trenches" along with all of the other squadrons.
If you just follow the friendly pilots without doing anything by yourself, you realize how dynamic and fitting the radio chatter is for each presented situation. I must also say they do pretty well on their own and feel more alive than the friendlies in AC05
God, the dialogue in this game is great. It wasn't anything that special, but it was implemented in such a way that made it really engaging. Heh... Engaging...
Yeah, that's definitely Steve Blum's voice at 17:53 - his voice is so distinctive that it's impossible to mistake him for anyone else. It's strange how he wasn't credited for being in AC4.
Steve Blum is in fucking everything. Also, I have a sneaking suspicion that one of the generic friendly pilots is voiced by the same actor as Shamrock from AC6, but he also doesn't have any credit... I don't know if that means it's a different VA or if they just forgot him because it's only a small role.
That moment was so cathartic. All the ISAF pilots that survived up to that point and took part in the Stonehenge raid were at least as good as the Yellow squadron.
There is a ton of unused dialogue in this sound file:32:32 -35:00 is very interesting... There is about three minutes of unused dialogue involving the Yellow squadron. Yellow four has a male voice I wonder why it wasn't put into the final version of the game. 39:42 -Unused Erusean Pilot voices. Very different voices. Some of them sound like a Bad New York and Southern accents accents and the rest, like Russian/ mixed with German (the black squadron, in particular) .
Yeah, makes me wonder if you were supposed to play a mission as them at one point early on and they just translated it even though it's not actually in the game.
If I remember correctly, if you stay in the battlefield too long when you're supposed to flee from the yellows, they start spouting these lines as you realize how dumb of a mistake it was to engage them
Aren't those lines part of the skirmish with the remnants of the Yellow Squadron trainees in the last mission? It's right after the extended Mobius Squadron dialogues from the same mission. It's just usually not that long of a fight so you don't hear much of it. The stuff near the end of that section are the idle lines at the beginning of missions before coming in contact with enemies.
Hearing Yellow Squadron's dialogue is chilling....because you were the one to down them all. These were the voices of your victims as the Grim Reaper of ISAF
What's interesting is SkyEye's unused line about waiting for the black out to end. Should they ever remaster the game, That would be an awesome way to start the mission.
This game has the best radio chatter/voice over dialog of all the ACE combat series and perhaps of all video games. The examples make this game legendary. 1:33:05 , 15:18 , 17:04 - 17:59 , 18:17
Lmao this VA is heard everywhere, both friendly and foe but not with this accent lol. Probably used for either Sitting Duck as a Bomber or Emancipation as a bomber.
It has always been my favorite thing about these games. At some point everyone in the game, friend or foe, recognizes just how lethal you are. This is something I haven't thought of before but I feel like, as you play the game, Sky Eye gets attached to you. Especially during the Stonehenge mission "We are in need of new heroes, be sure to make it back in one piece" I wonder how many aces just like Mobius One he's lost and finally Mobius One starts pulling through. I wonder if Mobius One and Sky Eye became friends after the war, in my game they do.
I headcanon this same thing. Backed up by the fact that they work hand-in-hand anytime either of them are deployed over the next 10 years after this game.
@@theColeHardTruth He speaks so unnaturally despite him clearly being an American voice actor. I think he's been told to try and put on some kind foreign accent (upper-class English?).

The voice actor for SkyEye was great
Indeed. Neil Howard did Skyeye so well.
Wish'd he return to voice Sky Eye in Ace Combat 7 VR.
