Cù Chulainn and Ferdiad were great warriors, both legends trained by the legendary Scathach, and when the war started Cù Chulainn was the only one standing against an army and Ferdiad, who didn't want to face his brother tried to avoid queen Medb's order to march against the legendary spear master... But it was a destined battle. The oath of warrior says that a warrior shall be loyal to his lord above his family, so he could not refuse his orders... Ferdiad and Cù Chulainn faced each other in the battlefield, they fought for days or weeks but were even, Cù Chulainn was a little tired for being protecting his land alone while everyone in his land were under a spell that made them feel the pain of giving birth, so he wasn't fighting for real and didn't want to kill his brother, but so Ferdiad didn't want too. In the end, exausthed after such a long battle, the Hound of Culan, the child of light, found no way out of that battle if not killing his brother. So he did what needed to be done, he summoned the spear made of the bones of sea monsters, the Gae Bolg, and with a kick the spear magically pursued Ferdiad's heart killing the hero for good. Maybe for the first time Cù Chulainn did not found any satisfaction, glory nor pride, let alone honour, winning a duel. He felt only disgrace and deep sadness, so he colapsed after it what gave Medb the oportunity to steal the brown bull. She made the brown bull of King Conchobar fight her white bull, she wanted to know who was stronger and the brown bull slayed the white bull but did not found any relif on that, he died after it in a deep sadness, the same pain that Cù Chulainn was feeling and that he woud feel worse later when he had to face his own child in a duel that he won... Falling deeper into dispair after killing his battle brother and his own child, war didn't brought him nothing good, even being the greatest hero of Ulster war just brought disgrace to him. Ironically Cù Chulainn was killed by the goddess of war and death manipulations, so war and other's selfish interest was what took everything from him (the goddess wanted to be his lover but he turned her down becoming her enemy, so just like Medb who fucked him up for her own whims and malice, Morrigan did killed him for not knowing how to take rejection). Ferdiad and Cù Chulainn does not have nothing to do with Pixy and Cypher but the idea of two battle brothers fighting at opposite sides in a final battle of a war made me remember this tale.

Ace combat zero was the first ace combat game I played on ps2 and generally it was haha one of the first games I played as well I couldn't save my progress since I didn't have a memory card but goddamn Did i not regret even for a moment to to start over the campaign each time because the game was so good and even after all these years not only do i feel nostalgia but also the same excitment when I played the game
