Someone needs to explain to CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC that Trump is RIGHT about Kamala Harris NOT being black! She literally has zero African ancestry. Her mother is 100% Indian and her father is 1/2 Indian and 1/2 Irish. Her father was only born in Jamaica, and is NOT of Jamaican descent! Harris’ great great grandfather was a major slave trader, having owned 1200 slaves at one point!
As a British person this is what separates the USA from the UK. America has multiple neighbours full of affluent black people. Black people are more educated in the UK where 50 to 60% of the black population have a degree, when it is only 18% of African Americans, but UK has less opportunity for Black people, because class and race dictate more the opportunities you get in the UK, than the USA. In the UK we have never had affirmative action to combat inherent bias in employment and this has lead to exclusion of people of colour, despite having one of the most educated black populations in the western world, in many fields. I something think the GOP want to bring this uber-white privilege that exists in the UK, to the USA, where uneducated whites have more opportunities than highly educated Black people to due unchecked white solidarity. Think about this Oscar nominated Black British actors Idris Elba, Chwitel Ejifori and Danial Kaluuya were struggling actors in the UK because TV shows and movies didn’t want to cast black actors in lead roles for many years and they had to go to the USA for work and now global big stars, so it shows what sets the USA apart from everyone rich country is the opportunity for people of colour. Britain has opportunity in terms of education, but that is about it.
Let me tell you one thing. Asking someone "What do you do?" as the first question when you meet them is such a tactless question. It is so superficial.
I am the mother of 2-daughters that are 33 &34 , they share the same concerns as these women. They are voting for Kamala because of Supreme Court decisions. One of them had an ectopic pregnancy and she is extremely disturbed.
No one wants to take away that care. Republicans just don’t want unrestricted abortions nationwide. They use cases like your daughter’s to fear monger, which works on the black community

We must talk , but I don't want to judge or get aggressive. That second part will be hard . I lost a friend when I just lost it when she made a crazy statement. I have to chill .
My sympathies...and I think I can relate to your sadness & your self-doubt regarding the source of the conflict. FWIW, over the years, I have seen a partial or full loss of mutual respect between friends, and even loss of some friends because of disagreements over politics. More often than not, the actual friction between the parties was powered by fundamental differences between their approach to politics, not necessarily the vote they may choose to cast. I think this could apply to you, so please bear with me as I explain what I have learned over the years.... What I have discovered is that (..especially among traditional hard-core 'right-wing'/'left-wing' voters & those to have drifted to a more far-right/far-left extremist stance..) they always have or have chosen to adopt (a) a rather negative world view (often expressed by them as 'being more realistic'), (b) a view that politics is means to 'settle the score' for their life's grievances, (c) a bitter/nihilistic outlook that devalues some/all people, and (d) political allegiance & voting decisions as a fundamental & unalterable extension of their self-worth & identity in the eyes of others. In contrast, some folks look at politics as (a) a way to express & put into practice their moral/ethical/spiritual compass, their ideals & a their hopeful vision for everyone on the planet, and (b) just one of many parts of their life. Consequently, many folks on the far-right or far-left enter any discussion/debate with much much higher emotional stakes than those closer to 'the centre' & 'moderate right/left', and this results in them being much more fear-driven when making political decisions, more outspoken & even cruel when sharing opinions, and far more combative/nasty when exposed to alternate perspectives and/or facts that contradict their world view. The consequence is that the discussions you & I have had with friends quickly take on an adversarial, 'winner takes all' tone, rather than 'sharing some food for thought' with each other...and friends who like some/all of Trump/Vance/MAGA attitudes & policies (e.g. far-right attitudes) will have great difficulty truly 'listening' instead of just hearing, respecting our right to an opinion, dealing with the concerns of entire segments of the population, and reacting (not responding) to challenging facts/arguments. All of this is to say that - assuming you discussed things in a passionate, but civil & authentic manner - the friend you lost was the one who made the choice to separate themselves from you, not necessarily the reverse. This means that they chose to walk away from you in order to walk away from uncomfortable 'truths', and you could not have avoided this result unless you chose to stay silent. Last, but not least...regarding "staying silent"...let's remember a crucially important quote from British philosopher John Stuart Mill during an 1867 speech, “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.” (paraphrased, as '“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” which as been incorrectly attributed to Sir Edmund Burke). Bottom line: Do not feel guilty about speaking-up on the moral/ethical/spiritual depravity of Trump/Vance/MAGA/most Republican leaders & the dangers these attitudes present to the entire USA (and, because the USA is the most powerful &influential nation in the world, the threat to all other democracies)! I hope this helps! :) Cheers!

Whatever their grievances about the Democratic Party.....they need to watch the documentary "Bad Faith". Then make their decision. The roots of MAGA is very important. Be aware.

He told me about an internship program in my hometown, Shreveport, LA that trained high school students and recent graduates from Highschool in architecture. So I gather up some of my best work, put on my Sunday suit and went over there. They open the door, took a look at me and stated we don't have such a program. Not the chains of those who our against us because we see them coming and is able to avoid. But break the chains of those who look like us and uses that, to hold us in place while the world around us moves forward. With all due respect. I thank those who gave their lives for us to be where we're at. But to act like we haven't moved forward is saying their sacrifice didn't do anything. I dont believe that. Our fight today is not the same fight my Grandparents had. The fight today is to realize that.
Tell that to millions of people’s grocery bills. You can pull all the numbers you want but our realities trump it. I’m not hallucinating eggs doubling and chicken prices quadrupling.
Inflation is measured at an annualized rate. It has been growing from 4 to 8 percent a year beginning in 2021. This year it will grow 3%. Traditionally, it grows 1 to 2 percent. Prices are higher than normal and inflation is out of control. Most Americans have not received an increase of 4 to 8 percent in increased income.

What i mean by entitlement-----is making that statement that only 4 of the 20 people with (I'm assuming) advanced degrees found a job. That statement alone tells me that she believes they all should be employed and particularly at salary ranges that meet their demands. '... the simplest thing is you blame the current administration ... what both parties are missing in this discussion is the nuance.' 🎯 However, the electorate is grossly ill-educated on what a free market economy means and the capitalist system, especially America's egregious take on it. The government doesn't control the price of food or fuel nor can it tell corporations what to charge for these items.
💯
but it does have the power to curtail domestic energy production which drives up transportation costs. you see, there is no farm and ranch directly behind every piggly wiggly.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION was for white Woman. It's a known fact.
UK is a Mess. Try not to get Stabbed
What? The US is structurally racist. Some will make it, but the system wasn't created for it. Social democrat countries does
I believe you're spot on. It's exactly why Affirmative Action was targeted
Let me tell you one thing. Asking someone "What do you do?" as the first question when you meet them is such a tactless question. It is so superficial.
True!!!! FIRST QUESTION: What do you do?
I am the mother of 2-daughters that are 33 &34 , they share the same concerns as these women. They are voting for Kamala because of Supreme Court decisions. One of them had an ectopic pregnancy and she is extremely disturbed.

As an educated Black woman living in PA, I hope you ladies make the most sensible decisions.
My African American 30 year old grad student , homeowner, mom of 3 , said if not for the woman stuff , she'd vote for Trump . I'm shocked and saddened. And co fused .
:) Cheers!

I loved the response to "What do the young black women think" and wondering how our politics got us to this point and how inextricably tied this moment in time is to the SCOTUS decision on Citizens United.
I know black women & men have carried our democracy on their backs for 250 yrs but have rarely reaped its benefits. Maybe it's simplistic of me, but can't we just be happy black women can finally step into the political limelight where they should've been along?💙💙

In high school I took drafting and architectures classes. My teacher, Mr. Jelks sat me down one day and asked me what I wanted to do and encouraged me pursue architectures as a career. He told me about an internship program in my hometown, Shreveport, LA that trained high school students and recent graduates from Highschool in architecture. So I gather up some of my best work, put on my Sunday suit and went over there. They open the door, took a look at me and stated we don't have such a program. Now while the door was open, I could see all these students in there and they were all white. I was so dishearten about this blatant racism as an 18 year old that I went and joined the military.

Young people and this sense of entitlement is depressing. I would ask the women who got their Masters what they received them in. Then mentioning they believe they're tasked with cleaning up the mess their elders created. Uggh
Getting your bachelors and Masters is a choice. I just retired at 64. I literally didn't get a decent paying job until 2019 (60K+) and I have a bachelor's and Masters. So what that young lady is feeling is nothing new to a lot of black women no matter what the age.
Entitlement? I didn’t get that at all.
What i mean by entitlement-----is making that statement that only 4 of the 20 people with (I'm assuming) advanced degrees found a job. That statement alone tells me that she believes they all should be employed and particularly at salary ranges that meet their demands. The truth is all of them could be employed, but most of them won't take jobs that are beneath what they feel their worth. I go back to, "What did you get your degree(s) in."
