- Part 2 - • The German Revolution ...
Many people know that the Nazi Party grew out of the chaos of the 1920'-30's. However, not many know about the chaos of the late 1910's. Things I Care About makes a great Oversimplified inspired video covering everything you need to know about it! Mr. Terry makes connects to other revolutions along the way!

Are you surprised the Germany communists didn't succeed?
Not really given the way that Germany’s history ended up progressing in the future.
No, but I now want nothing more than for Hot Tub History to be a thing
@@LizLuvsCupcakesYes! Hot tub history!!!
To me as a german it is really interesting that post WWI is called the german revolution. In germany we typically call the march revolution of 1848 our german revolution even though it failed.
Was also about to comment about that, German revolution in Germany is 1848 and starts with the Hambacher Fest.
"I know exactly how you feel."
-Mexico 🇲🇽
@vHindenburg The Hamburger fest?!? Count me in brother
I remember watching a video about in class and the confusing part was that the French at that time revolted two times against a newly established monarchy again, the second time being successful
Yet they were ruled by Napoleon 3 around the time Bismarck stepped into the scene - explanation French people?
Great Reaction and Insight!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the suggestion regarding map-making, I'll keep it in mind in the future!
yooo
There you are!
It seems you weren't the only one who fooled me into thinking Oversimplified had uploaded. I bow to you, good sir.
It's a good video, I appreciate watching it with this format
Mr Terry elaborates but it's like he's maintaining the 'simplified' precept.
Same lol I was like no way
I love the early oversimplified art style and turning it into something new
Well if Oversimplified is taking way too long to make videos, than someone should step up the plate.
@@Labyrinth6000i don't think it's "taking way too long" when it comes to the in depth research and all the time it takes to animate the various scenes. and this next one might be a part 1 and 2 so he could be making TWO videos.
This enraged his father who punished him severely

This a classic
It was cold, stupid cold.
@JohnHuang-mc1wz cry harder, sweet tears
I think this dude has come the closest to capturing what makes Oversimplified so damn great out of all of them that are inspired by him.
Well we all got sick and tired of waiting for nearly a year of no content from Oversimplified
@@Labyrinth6000 It's understandable tha tit takes so long, I'm pretty sure ther'es only like 2 people working on them, in which one person writes and does research and voice over and the other does the animation.
Hot Tub History sounds like a great idea. I love history and the absurdity gives it that “hot wings interview” vibe with its own uniqueness.
On the whole thing with the chancellor having that much power in the Weimar constitution: Often, because of this article, he was also called the "Ersatzkaiser" or "substitutional emperor"
"Hot Tub History" sounds like it would be perfect for Sirius Radio.
The German Revolution is the one of the few moments in history i find myself imagining how the world could've been different had it gone different, no Hitler and no Vanguardist monopoly on worker liberation, but alas, life sucks
The emergence of Vanguardism as the dominant branch of Communist ideology really is one of the historical bruh moments. It's like if the first French Republic survived and the Reign Of Terror was just the norm for Liberalism because it was the leading Liberal power.
Great! You had me jumping around my house like a spaz because i thought oversimplified dropped a new vid. Damn near planned my saturday mornin around it. Ill take it though. Thanks Mr.T (i hope your students call you that)
I could imagine Article 48 being a compromise to more pro-monarchy parts of the weimar republic, as in 'there's still one man in charge, he just has a different title'. other than that I can't think of any reason that would be even semi-reasonable.
Awesome! He also released part 2 not too long ago.
Good to see someone's trying to keep the Oversimplified style alive and running
@AdoptMePlayzzzzz probably not
There is a part 2 so please cover it Mr Terry. The mini series is very well done
I just saw the title and was like: "what new oversimplified"? You baited me good there sire *salute*
One thing worth mentioning is that there's a really cool song about the freikorps. I believe it's called "freikorps marschiert in fremdes land" it wouldn't work for a video, but it's worth checking out if you've got time
Aye lets go I was not expecting this now/today :) Good stuff
If you wish to learn more about this revolution in more detail, I recommend Jonas Ceika - CCK Philosophy’s series on the German revolution of 1918.
In 2015, to mark the seventieth anniversary of the end of World War II, I published my first book, the Secret Jew. However, as I was writing that book, I read Mein Kampf. When I read Hitler's own words, the only thing I was thinking was: "No, Germany! Don't listen to him! Save my people, save the world! Don't do this!" But Germany did, and six million innocent men, women, and children lie dead because of their religion, along with thirty other million people who died in World War II. Since I am Jewish, I sincerely hope that the world never sees the likes of Hitler again. Those neo-Nazis... they have lost all sense! Why do they exist when everybody knows that Hitler was one of the most evil men? And before anyone asks, all my grandparents lived under Joseph Stalin, the other evil man.
Hey Mr. Terry, there is a podcast called The Iron Dice that has a series called Fight For The Republic. It details the time from the armistice to the failure of the German socialists. It's very interesting and you might like it.
Definitely would love to see your reaction to the next part of this ASAP! Aside from how this guy nailed the OverSimplified vibe, this topic in particular has always fascinated me. It's not only a cautionary tale about the consequences of ultranationalism, militarism, and ignoring far right extremism, but also a testament to the importance of a strong labor movement. Hell, Rosa Luxemburg and her anti-Leninist stances were actually what got me back into Socialism after I balked at the USSR.
rosa wasnt anti-lenin, she had her disagreements but she supported the bolsheviks
@@powa6243 In fairness, she did die early into Bolshevik rule, long before the worst atrocities of Lenin, never mind Stalin, and she _still_ had a lot of criticisms of their "democratic centralism" that would eventually turn the USSR into a dictatorship.
Even though he did not fight, my great-grandfather experienced total war during World War II. He was the director of a factory, and his survival of the Blockade of Leningrad got him a Thank You Letter from Mikhail Gorbachev, followed by another one from Boris Yeltsin in 1993. In 1995, he got a Thank You Letter from Lukashenko. During this time, he also got a lot of distinguished war medals, even though he did not fight. My great-grandfather never told me stories about the Blockade, because he was more interested in telling us how he survived the reign of Joseph Stalin. Or maybe it was because he suffered from PTSD, and after he turned ninety, he was almost completely deaf. When he passed away in 2012, all I could think was: I lost the only relic I had from the time when Lenin was alive. All of my other great-grandparents passed away before the Soviet Union fell. My great-grandfather was born in 1919 and died in 2012, meaning he was born before the Soviet Union was created and died after it fell.
No man do Hot Tub History but you wear a full suit upper half in the Hot Tub 😂😂😂
Haha with waterproof notecards. or not.
""Oversimplified Inspired""
you had me in the first half, im not gunna lie.
saw this in my feed and ran to OS to see the raw vid first only to find it wasn't there.

Simple: They didn't know how to actually do Democracy.
They only knew how to have one strong leader.
As such, they made sure there was a way for their elected leader to basically become "Kaiser 2.0".
Or at leasts that's how my history teacher explained it when talking about the Weimer Republic as an example on how not to do Democracy...
It was intended as a last measure in crisis, where the government needs to act faster than democracy allows, it was just waaaay too easy to invoke and had no checks and balances attached, therefor it inevitably had to fail, especially in the chaotic Weimar era, where governments would fall every other year.
Yes This Guy Is As Entertaining As Oversimplified I'm So Damn Glad You're Back Reacting To Him
I'm gonna watch the original first but I'm poking in to put this in my history so I can see your take after
i saw that thumbnail and instantly checked oversimplified lmao
I’ve never watched a podcast in my life but even I would tune in to that hot tub history idea
Mr. Terry, you should listen to Mike Duncan's "Revolutions" podcast. It talks about this as part of the Russian Revolution as well as so many other revolutions.
We learn about this in GCSE History in the UK. GCSE History is studied for Year 10's and Year 11's (Grade11 + Grade 12 for Americans)
Yes do a part 2
StarvHarv uploaded bad ww1 translations, I would like to see you react to that
Been following your channel for quite some time came over from vlogging through history that you've done reactions with can you do a reaction to Sabaton ghost division later down the road panzerkampf could be incorporated as they are part one and two of the famous ghost division during World War II describing their rise and fall
Would be funny if this got more views then the actual video
Yes, part 2 came out yesterday

100 years ago, a lot of people thought they were kings.
Now, a lot of people thinks they're queens.
I have a bad feeling about this... History is repeating itself!
I think the idea of hot tub history is a great idea. What topics do you most want to cover? Would you ask other history youtubers to participate?
Mr Terry is the goat
starvharv just uploaded
Yup
If you are interested in this topic, there is a great Podcast called The Iron Dice by Dan Arrows
Wait 8 out of 10? That sounds like a very large percentage for a non-denominational political party.
I saw the thumbnail and thought oversimplified uploaded
Hottub history with Lazerpig
People should send this to Oversimplified so they can see it
i would 100% support hot tub history.
Can you do part 2 ?
There’s “being influenced by” and then there’s basically plagiarism 😂
Yh exactly
Part 2 released yesterday.

You do know you can also just do a podcast in which you have conversations with historians, call it "Hottub History", and NOT involve actual hottubs, right?
How else are people gonna donate without seeing half naked wet 40 year old men then?
part 2 already came out
Part 2 has come out
I am wondering, as we in Germany think about the German Revolution happend in 1848.
I wanna say that I'm 100% behind a bunch of average looking actual historians discussing history in a hot tub as a YT channel. If it were a thing, I would watch it. And FWIW, I'm a straight woman. I don't care. Information first!!
There was a revolution that was basically a succeed but Germany took too long discussing what they wanted and the old regime reestablished themselves
Making toast in a hot tub podcast.
Cool
Make a part two pls, this is one the most important parts of history of how a democracy turns to yet another dictatorship of not only fascist means but national "socialism", this though is a tragedy of betrayal of the state power of fighting for democracy and human rights with the Spartacus movement, Rosa and Karl are heros that were betrayed and killed by proto-fascist a great tragedy and warning for us all
still waiting for the reaction to the second part
Tomorrow!
@@MrTerry Cool, thanks for telling me!
14:16 Hey man just like a certain famous American says, "Every Man A King!", The Germans were Longist before Huey were even born.
Edit: LMAO I can't stop laughing when he calls Liebknecht German Trotsky.
i wonder if oversimplified know this
If you want a great series on this period, I can't recommand _Babylon Berlin_ enough. It is quite fictitious, but you can just feel the coming of the end of Germany's "Republic" as the 1930s rool around. :/
Ww 1 in Google translate is out
This shows why if you let people who knows nothing about legal policies write up policies themselves, it's damning.
Case in point, article 48 and the new proposition 24 in California. It's not exactly the same but it has the same problems underneath that it's written by buffoons to serve buffoons.
In the problem with Article 48, it looks like it's martial law but in actuality, with the Freikorp being the actual private military of the president with it just being 0.01% of the Heer/Wehrmacht or whatever it's called during WWI and post-war, it's just a dictatorial process in the making in disguise of democracy. If they're not happy with the decisions and votes, Article 48 would be raised and waved infront of everyone with the whole private military coming crashing down on the dissidents who goes against the Chancellor or president. In fact that's what happened countless times later on.
Proposition 24 in California was a different case but same outcome. Due to the crime rates in California being surprisingly high as always, prisons are often over capacity and worse still, there's not much land left to build more prisons. So in the previous law book, it states that any crime above $250 is considered a federal offence which would land you time in a prison. I don't know which smart fuck came up with the idea but in order to reduce people being incarcerated, they straight up increased the threshold for the limit from 250 straight up to $950 and anything below it would just be considered a misdemeanor where you would not be sent to prison for robbery and theft but simply stay in a holding cell for a day or two and released thus you can rinse and repeat again. With that new proposition being passed, surprise surprise, crime rates went up 200% with major stores now locking their doors and instantly just leaving California for the time being as everyone's just acting like it's they're in a COD:Warzone game where everything is up for looting as the cops won't take the time to stop them and the store personals are too swamped to even stop the mobs.
I think oversimplify might be dead at this point. He hasn’t done the Walt Disney video yet.
I just wish they did a different art style. Like, even a _little_ bit different, yknow?
Not going to lie I almost click on this video because I thought oversimplified made another video
Can you watch ruining ww1 with bad transition it’s out
part 2

Honestly I would watch hot tub history
I think this guys is good too lol
I don't like this video it inaccurately portrays Wilhelm II, as he hated the war and sought peace at every stage of the war. He was known as the peace Kaiser, for his anti war stance
You should have kept the subtitles since he has a thick accent for us viewers😅😢
that video goes more into details but is left wing biased. they forgot to tell that most violence were done by left wing/socialist supporters all over Germany which also result in a lot of disorder. also forgotten. those left wings/socialists were (just like today) the ones who spread most antisemitism/antizionism. the NationalSOCIALISTS (which were just a variation of a socialist movements (and like most intellectually throughout Europe Marxists of different sorts) bridges such socialist/workers with another focus. and no, it wasnt that Hitler was that specific racists (that was common at that time, Slavic stoke to Slavics, other Ethnic groups to their own, nationalism all over Europe - and of course more in less structured regions. It was also during WW1 that Germany, Austria were - in relation - more friendly to Jews which is why many Eastern Jews fleed to West-Central and Western Europe (also due to economic regions). And because they were more strange than Western Jews they also rose some resentments). Anyway, Hitler became anti-Jewish because many socalists were Jews and ANTI-German (while many other Jews were not - thats his main mistake, to generalize this pattern - not a 'tactical mistake' (but of course an anti humanitarian crime) was to pickup on the already existing anti-Jewish resentments (which again, were very common especially under the workers - which Hitler himself noticed when visiting typical left wing/SPD/KPD events or unions). Today the history is not just in this regard twisted. Same goes for 'right wing'. There are no right wings. There are only left wings who call other ones 'right wing' (since the old French revolution/old French national assembly seat orer) - which left wings tried to keep as inspirational tradition. In fact the NSDAP itself called other ones, the 'bourgeoisie' in this tradition 'right wing' - just like every left wing party. And the NSDAP was a mixed-left wing party! (just one variation among the other antiliberal socialists movements of that time. More focus on national aspects due to the lost war, loss of regions, unfair treatmennt after WW1 etc. - and still under the different opinions about unification unsettled, similar to Italy and many Eastern Europen countries. Also Mussolini was a Marxist, just like the first Fascism movement in Sicily was left wing (peasant movement). One also has to keep in mind that at that time 'nation' as new organisation form (against feudalism/aristocracy) was also during the French revolution and after that part of the 'progression' - also connected with the idea of fixed borders, ppl government themself etc... is is a STRAIGHT HISTORY FAKING to try to sell that as 'right wing' in every way. and there are also no Nazis called 'right wing' from News papers (one can look into the archives - you will not find anything). AFTER WW2 the neu-marxists who continued to support antiwestern/antiliberal/antidemocratic socialist dictator ships around the world (which all continued to be antisemitic/antizionists - look at Lula in Brasil/Chavez-Manduro in Venezuela, all left wing parties in Europe, the US, Kuba, the black racist antisemitic/antizionist try-parts system in South Africa (ANC, communist party, union party) etc. etc. its also till today that LEFT WINGS are the real racists who want keep this old 'sorting' alive - just re-framed it that idiots dont notice that ... this SORTING is the real racism! people really need to use their brain ...
Hrm. Extemely good quality video, but I must admit about half of the comedy/quality for Oversimplified is the delivery. It makes me wonder about these two combining together, having Oversimplified be the Narrator, but the both of them working on research, scripts, animation, etc etc. This guy fully gets what makes a good Oversimplified VIDEO, but his delivery is off.
How many likes for hot-tub history??????
Well, we do have to differentiate between communists and socialists strongly here. The original socialistic, or social-democratic political party was the SPD (still exists to this day, and the current chancellor is from that party). They did support WW1, fearing that a retreat would mean total economic and social destruction of Germany (which is believable, considering their actions against the rise of Hitler before WW2). From the social-democratic SPD, the then new communist party, that was more radical and against supporting the war, the USPD and the Spartacus legion formed. So while yes, communism failed, socialism did not. And it's important to differentiate between SPD (social-democratic Germany) and USPD (independent social-democratic party Germany), socialists and communists.
2:39 How is it ironic? Communism and Socialism are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Communism is right wing and socialism is left wing
@SonOfMuta
Well, that's an interesting proposition. I usually hear people saying that Socialism & Fascism are on opposite ends of the political spectrum. This is the first time I've heard that claim about Socialism & Communism.
Perhaps you'll explain yourself a little bit, or tell me where I can find more of this point of view?
At the very least, you should briefy define Socialism and Communism, or cite their important differences from your point of view.
That's a first I've heard anyone say that. Could you explain how communism is right-wing and socialism is left-wing. Because last I checked, communism is a far left ideology and is usually a subset of socialist ideology or the left wing.
StarvHarv posted a new translation video about WWI
I hope oversimplified shuts this guy down its just straight up plagiarism
No I don't think I will support a copy cat channel
