Ay congrats, I've been trying to catch up on the lore in destiny since I started on destiny 2. Seems like a lot of great experiences I missed and hopefully D2 can start creating some of their own soon.
Austin S mynameisbyf is honestly your best choice. He has a 4 hour video going over lore from the start of the currently known destiny universe all the way to Shadowkeep and it’s nuts, he misses nothing.

I remember first playing destiny when I was only 12 years old when I got it for Christmas in 2014. I have to thank my uncle for bringing me into this game as we used to play hours of it every time he came to visit. Being 19 now, I still play destiny every day and is my favorite game to date
The chills i got from going to " the children are frightened anyway" to " the children are no longer afraid " brings so much joy to me as a destiny 1 guardian
9:54 "The Darkness is coming back. We will not survive it this time." That line hits a lot harder given everything that's happened over the past 6 years, especially now that Savathun and the Pyramid Ships are here in the wake of Cayde's death and fracturing of the Vanguard. In one month we see what Europa has in store for us.
I remember playing the beta, I instantly feel in love with the game, i played that beta every second I could. I don't kno what it is now but destiny isn't what it once was. They need to open up the universe of destiny and add free roam to tons of new worlds, little side quests that millions of people haven't even found yet. There's so much potential.
I loved how everyone bitched and complained about Destiny 1 when it first came out. Lack of story. People complained about the Gremoire, etc etc. and now 3-4 years later, it was Epic and everyone misses it 🙄
The story in the DLCs lacked a lot. Vanilla to Rise of Iron (Taken King and Rise of Iron had basic story beats, some interest stuff with hive and Siva) D2 vanilla and DLCs Proceeded to shit the bed with vanilla and first two DLCs ( just like D1) and it shit over lore stuff like Ana bray and Rasputin. Forsaken actually had a story again but was kinda stupid, same with shadowkeep. I miss joe staten, at least story dialogue and presentation was never canned, except with Miranda Keyes.
Looking back, these cut scenes during the missions were pretty great. I can remember a lot of these lines from rerunning story missions. Great memories.
Coming from D2, never played D1, as soon as I heard the Ghost speak at the beginning I recoiled. I've played with the current voice for so long that hearing something else disturbs me greatly.
Boy oh boy! The goosebumps will never stop. Every scene is filled with overwhelming nostalgia. I miss the days of farming for the perfect armors and weapons. Picking random guardians in the tower to help them level up. Running raids with your fireteam. Remembering that your guardian actually spoke and not just "little light". Last but not least, when every mission felt like an accomplishment because they gave gear or weapons specifically to that content. The grind for a gjallarhorn or the vex mythoclast. D2 was all down hill for me when cayde was killed. He was the best out of all the vanguard.
SebGoesBananas same, they need to go back to the way things were with D1. D2 is nothing compared, I wanted D2 to be amazing but bungie has proven time and time again I cannot count on them. But at least we’ll have our memories from D1, and everything in between.
I’ll admit that destiny 1 felt more rewarding l, but the armor and weapon system in d2 is far superior to destiny 1. If they would implement hard mode and other aspects to warrant replayability, destiny 2 would be the best
It’s crazy to think that now, after 6 years, we will soon finally encounter the darkness and whatever hell it brings with it. I remember coming home from school on a Friday night and trying to beat the spider tank just before Sepiks and it taking me just over 2 hours with some random guys who I never would think would become my close raid buddies. “Life was simpler back then” is a phrase that people always throw around, but it really was easier 6 years ago. Now I’m graduating and starting a new part of my life. To the brothers that stayed with me from that spider tank till the darkness’s 2nd arrival, you are and always will be my fireteam. Thank you for everything.

best game I've ever played. so many memories from September 2014. joining my 1st crucible game, Toland's legacy, my 1st exotic from Xur,(plan C), my 1st time descending into the infamous vault of glass, never seen so many vex in my life, had no idea what to do or where to hide. Opening the exotic chest and getting my 1st exotic from it, many many tries later(patience and time), defeating Atheon and receiving the vex mythoclast from my 1st hard mode victory. man I wish I could type everything I've experienced from this masterpiece of a game and all the friends I made :(
One thing that always got me is the astronaut in the first cutscene clearly slips far too much and is definitely about to fall off the mountain in the first angle only to cut to another set of frames that are entirely different and his feet catch solid ground.
Im so happy I bought this game back then even tho Destiny 2 was about to come out in a few months XD. I never played any raids but I finished all the DLC's and then played Destiny 2. Loved the campaigns!
From a mechanical design standpoint, it's a work of art. Even if I dont follow the story exactly, I admire the design...amazing work! I worked in Unigraphics nx for 8 years , among other different systems, Hypermesh..Inventor..

You kno, I remember the beginning of destiny when the beta was out and I was so hyped, it was such a fun game. Now I put destiny on which is very rarely and I have no idea wtf to do anymore. Im not in a fireteam, I've never been big into crucible or multiplayer. It's like that fun journey game I first played is gone. Destiny jus isn't fun, it's confusing. They added a bunch of different things but it's all about power level and getting higher, more powerful, do this, do that and blah! In the past 6 months I think I played like once or twice about 5 months ago. I miss how the game was, how I could jus put it on and get a fun weapon or jus jump around and explore the destiny worlds. I miss you destiny baby, come back home 😥
I remember how controversial that "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" line was when the game first came out. Bungie may have been a little too reticent with details at launch. It felt like ages before they were able to flesh out the world and characters to the level players were hoping for.

"loyalty to a queen, and a sister." 58:40 Siva could explain the end of shadowkeeps salvation replica of our guardian... "the corruption puppeted us against one another" 1:04:20 and does this explain lightfal... if the traveler abandoned us after we did its bidding?
My all time favourite game, I have been playing it since the 1st DLC. It was around then I created our clan The "Gunnaripyaanuones" (Gonna rip ya a new ones). We are still going strong as we await the latest Destiny 2 DLC "Beyond Light" we are at 95 members, (we have to do a purge every now and then to boot players that haven't been on in a prolonged period.. We have a terrific clan of good sports men and women, we help each other out with challenges and have a great camaraderie. I've made friends here that I know will be with me the rest of my days.. Thank you xTGE for putting this all together. I agree with you yes RIP Dinklebot.. his dulcet tones added so much to the game, it was a sad loss. losing Cayde was also a terrific loss I'm sure all miss his humour.... A lot of this has changed if you didn't remember even then your guardian didn't talk at all, this game was updated and was given dialogue

It's like that fun journey game I first played is gone.
Destiny jus isn't fun, it's confusing.
They added a bunch of different things but it's all about power level and getting higher, more powerful, do this, do that and blah!
In the past 6 months I think I played like once or twice about 5 months ago.
I miss how the game was, how I could jus put it on and get a fun weapon or jus jump around and explore the destiny worlds.

I remember how controversial that "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" line was when the game first came out. Bungie may have been a little too reticent with details at launch. It felt like ages before they were able to flesh out the world and characters to the level players were hoping for.

My all time favourite game, I have been playing it since the 1st DLC. It was around then I created our clan The "Gunnaripyaanuones" (Gonna rip ya a new ones).
We are still going strong as we await the latest Destiny 2 DLC "Beyond Light" we are at 95 members, (we have to do a purge every now and then to boot players that haven't been on in a prolonged period..
We have a terrific clan of good sports men and women, we help each other out with challenges and have a great camaraderie. I've made friends here that I know will be with me the rest of my days..
Thank you xTGE for putting this all together. I agree with you yes RIP Dinklebot.. his dulcet tones added so much to the game, it was a sad loss. losing Cayde was also a terrific loss I'm sure all miss his humour....
