Being a Dumpster Diver, I took the trash up today as an excuse to look in the dumpster, and low and behold, found a working Router with bit, and looked a little more and found the little compressor just like yours right next to the router. I live in a mobile home complex, and someone sold a trailer and left everything in it and this new owner has been dumping good stuff in the dumpster for 4 days. Compressor seems to run good, cleaned it up, looks near new. Saw your Video and was intrigued by how you checked yours out. When you get the Rectifier & the Capacitor I'd like to see the rest of your video. Great Video, but I'm not an electronic guy, but if you show me, I can replace parts. Thanks again Jason. Love these Videos. I subscribed and clicked on the Bell.

I love Mouser Electronics, since I live in Oklahoma it's literally next day shipping. However it sucks to order a single part, they need to have a small packet drop it in the mail option. Normally if I need a small single component I try Amazon with a Prime account it's free shipping.

Perfect! I have the same issue with mine. Fan runs but that is all. So what i need is four (4) 1000 volt 3 Amp Diodes? I found a 10 pack on eBay but want to be sure I get the correct ones.

Great video. I was confused by this simple circuit board. I found almost the same compressor without the DC motor and without the main switch. (I was surprised that three wires go to the switch.)I have the fridge's AC compressor and trying to make this work together. I want to bypass the rectifier. How is the best way to do so? thank you in advance.

A question for you: If the motor has a label saying it's AC, and the fan runs when the bridge rectifier is removed, what part requires DC to run?

My Harbor Freight 3 gallon air compressor has the same issue. The rectifier is stuffed inside the motor and not on a circuit board.

Do you have to oil any part of the compressor motor on this unit? I have the same one and it smells like it's burning up at times.

That's a very common failure in those and the 1st thing I would have checked. I just make them out of single diodes.

I have the same compressor. Left it in the back of the truck and it got rained on now it’s dead. Bout to tear into it and finally see if I can fe5 it going again.

I have a slightly newer version.
Mine runs but doesn't compress air anymore.
Suspect something has gone cattywampus in the compressor.

I picked up this exactly same compressor at the curb. But it doesn't compress air well. Maybe leaking from piston

I simply bought a bag of 20, in case they blew again, off ebay that were 3 amp diodes. In fact i'll sell you a set from my left overs, email me!

Do you have any more of these rectifiers? Could I buy one maybe 2 from you? What’s your email? I have the same problem with my fp200300av compressor, blown fuse etc. and if replacing the rectifier worked for you then I’ll try fixing it the similar way. Thanks! Nate

      It's a Hakko 808. They are not cheap ($350-$400)

Why didn't he just take the 2 wires off the cap, discharge it, and check the reading at the capacitor?

Hi there not sure if you fixed this yet, but i think as it has a dc motor the rectifier is for the motor, the fan seems to be a/c, i would draw a picture of a bridge rectifier, i suspect you would get continuity across some of the terminals as the current goes through the diode...so might not be faulty...i might be inclined to put the bits back in, disconnect what you can and see when the fuse blows, it look like the capacitor has push on terminals, you could pull them off, maybe disconnect the wires from the board and see which one is blowing the fuse...from Fred in UK.

If it's not building pressure, toss it. CH doesn't sell the parts needed to fix it, they sell the whole motor which exceeds %60 of cost of a new one.

You could just hook up the 120v to the motor and bypass all that non sense. Run the thing when needed.

I suppose if you have got nothing better to do then to fix a purposely badly made compressor. I just wish people would stop buying these compressors. Then perhaps the company will actually make their machines better. Or they will change their name to trick people into thinking a new company will do better. What a waste.

Thanks, now I know not to buy that piece of shit compressor. I seen it at tractor supply for $80, that cheap to buy must mean it's garbage.
