I own an identical car as in the video. The best way to identify which bulb has gone is when the bulb warning shows on the dash hold down on the select button on the indicator stick for a few seconds, it will show a fault code such as CC-ID 134, you can then Google that fault code and it will tell you which bulb it relates to. I had a rear brake and reverse light go at the same time, so would get 2 bongs. Following the same step as above you can actually see the next fault code by using the scroll button on the windscreen wiper stick.
I just pulled this thing out, put my phone on video, started the car, pressed the brake, stopped the car and watched the video back. Then I knew which bulb to replace😂
excellent video, straight to the point and very informative thanks!", iv got the same car and confused when it thought both of my brake lights were working, i have got the iDrive which told me which bulb it was but was still confused lol
Lovely video However im still having an issue with both interior brake lights still not working Thats same on both sides Any idea what to do?? have replaced both bulbs!
Thank you for the video! Question - Both my brake lights (right and left) are out. Only my 3rd brake light is working. I replaced the bulb already. Would you have any advice on where I should start looking to solve the issue?
Thanks!!! One of my headlight bulbs was out so I replaced it but I couldn't figure out why my warning light was still on. Just verified and replaced the rear bulb that was out. I couldn't tell it was out until I removed the rear light casing. All good now!
Anton - I should have just come straight to this Channel for all my BMW woes - Thanks Anton i have the same light so thanks to you i now know how to sort it out. Thanks again -
Thank you. Those videos are a saver. I cannot wait to get into my car and hopefully it will be the same problem which I can solve myself easily. Great job.
Was wondering mate what kind of bulb I’m terms of voltage and general power the bulb you use is running on. On my dads E90 (55) model I’m certain that side bulb is gone so thought I’d ask before checking it myself or buying a bulb
Depends which one has blown, easy to pop the unit out and have a look they are all 12volts, you wont go far wrong with one of these amzn.to/454m7Kx Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Mate, don’t know who you are or where you came from but over the course of this evening you’ve saved me at least £400 in potential investigations etc. Have you ever had an intermittent power loss with that 318? Literally split second, no problems with DPF or anything like that, like if you’ve been rolling at 40 in 4rd and then accelerate hard the car speeds up but then seems to choke? No idea where to start looking! Driving me mad!
@@aaanton11 thank you for your reply. I’ll give that a look, I don’t have the DTC option sadly (would like it!) I don’t get traction lighting up unnecessarily either or ABS. So frustrating! It’s like a little choke/kick/cough something like that. Haha, I’ll start there though, thanks for the advice!
Evening Ant. Good info as always. Great spot, difficult to see at first. Why didn't you replace those standard bulbs with a couple of DECENT LED bulbs each side as the rest of the light cluster is LED anyway? Keep up the great content mate. Stay lucky. Stay healthy. Stay safe. Alan L200
I haven't had much luck finding an led bulb that wont set off the bulb warning light, maybe I need to look harder😵💫 Thanks Alan for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
Is there no LED bulbs that you could have used instead of the normal bulbs ? I change my Aygo side light and interior to LED and I have some to replace the centre brake light bulbs when I get some sealer to seal it up. 😁
You could code out the bulb check for those so LED wouldn't bring up errors, not sure if they will work on reduced voltage though as sidelights I think they run between 3v and 6v before turning 12v when brake pedal is pressed
Some one please help me ... I have the same problem with my e90 on the passanger side... I've replaced both bulbs and the bottom strip still doesn't light up .. both bulbs are working fine and the warning on the dash has disappeared?
I see BMW set a trap and almost everyone falls into it 😂(myself included), and that it is due to the fact that they placed 2 brake bulbs for each side and at first glance it is hard to see if a bulb is burned out.

My LED lights does not light up on the car or on the trunk door. What can be the issue?
Pop the back off the light units and check the connectors or you might have a broken wire in the boot hinge wires, Thanks for the great comments👍🏻👍🏻🛠
